The issue? "YOUR CASTING IS SHIT AND I HATE YOU" is not an issue, it's a petulant flame. Could you y'know, leave the room while the grown-ups are talking? I've got some megablox you could play with.

How fucking TB of you.

And that will never change. This community has too much bullshit that needs calling out and someone has to do it. Fuck the flamers, fuck those that protect them.

with bullshit in the community you mean things like ganging up on xlord based on "facts" posted in a reddit thread?
i know you apologized and everything but you mention certain standards that not even you can live up to.

i understand that harsh word fell in this thread. but i kinda understand waxangel and his point about casters not talking about other casters until this point (ok we have a few exceptions like incontrol talking about kellymilkies).

At least they mentioned they're not able to bring up unit tabs, so they must not be in-game obsing. Is this going to change at some point? If not, then I don't understand the purpose of in-person casting.

Yeah they must be casting from a restream then. Which makes it absolutely pointless to even be in Korea if they don't have proper access to the game. They're essentially doing the exact same thing we were. I have no idea what Kespa is thinking and I'm hoping this is just a temporary situation and they will actually accommodate the casters and provide them with the tools they need to do their jobs.

The audience drop is a definite factor. I enjoyed TB and MB casting together, even with the technical glitches and stream crashes. I can state that the first day I watched the English cast post-TB/MB I went to bed early (earlier?). Yes I could have muted the stream, watched the Korean stream, etc. but none of these options interested me at the moment.

It pains me to see such a large viewership drop for THE LEAGUE and I don't want to even consider a repeat of the BW Korean/foreigner scene.

I hope for an improvement in the casting situation of some sort, but I fear importing well-known casters is a long-shot at best since most of them have stable, long-term commitments. Of course, this is both good for the casters and the scene, but not for a potential solution to the English casting of Proleague.

Tyler said it best. This is KESPAs fault. They COULD have invested enough in a proper English setup in such a way that would attract casting talent to actually go out there to Korea. Heck they could even have contracted it out to an external organization to cast from a studio. ESL has a studio, MLG has a studio, NASL has a studio. Give em an in-game obs and a camera feed and you are pretty much golden. We were casting from a restream they were providing us, we had no in-game obs, we weren't allowed into the game to watch at all. There are far more solutions available than merely "pay 2 casters a bunch of money to go to Korea". I don't blame either of the current casters for taking the gig, but I do blame KESPA for handling the English broadcast situation poorly up to this point.

I am not trying to volunteer you, Tyler or any other prominent figure, but has anyone spoken to KESPA about the options mentioned above? From what I've read, KESPA seems very stubborn but if a cost-effective method was presented by someone well-known in the foreigner scene that would increase viewership this might even change their stance.

Quite true. I hope that changes, because otherwise it's just the same thing that was going on back in the BW days, on the down low with re-streaming casters. And with casters that people seem to not enjoy as much as the old ones. Except maybe the stream doesn't crash as much, and you can pay for it now. (Not digging on the price - consumer wise, it's great.)

So both the online casts earlier this week and the offline cast this week were done from a restream? That's puzzling to say the least O_o.

I have pretty low standards for casters. They just compliment the game, they don't really make it or break it for me.
I think they can improve, but I definitely like newer people casting than the same since early-2011.

Total Biscuit since it seems you are following the thread i just have one question. How are any comments you have made on the issue in this thread in the best interest of proleague? cause thats what EVERYONE is concerned about after all right?. None of you dont want it to fail, incontrol husky and whoever else, and so the right solution must be to post about it on a public forum, which already was already turned into a shitstorm over the casters.

If its a matter of survival of the proleague, then you HAD TO know that posting stuff here (goes for all prominent casters) will not help it out in absolutely any way. There will be no mass epiphany nor protests that will accomplish anything from these posts. If you are truly only concerned for the life of PL, then you send those comments to kespa, and give some useful advice to the casters. I mean you guys know what the situation is like there, so instead of whining on forums (which accomplishes nothing) share some of the experience you guys have, but WITH THEM, not the fucking forums.

But of course you guys know all this (i assume), which is what begs the question of why all the sudden caster involvement in other caster bashing on public forums, a situation practically without precedent? Dont say for the good of proleague, cause that doesnt make any sense.

And thats how it should be. But are you for it that two new comers cast the prestige pro-league? IMO thats the point.

Not liking your behavior doesn't make me a hater or a flamer.

You're right. Not contributing a single worthwhile sentence to this thread and focusing your efforts entirely on ad hominem attacks on me makes you a flamer.

Nah, but most people get offended easily on the internet, i guess he is saying it would be easier for you to just relax and don't answer the flamers. But to be honest, i don't care, my e-skin is thick enough to don't feel offended or overreact at the aggressiveness on your posts.

I agree entirely with Tyler's point, the casters are not to blame, they would be stupid if they could had accepted the job and didn'd do it. I have t say, i watched the last KT's games, and the casters didn't even know who was the yellow, or the red player, and that isn't entirely the caster's fault, but mostly how KeSPA had set it up.

I got to say, that while Incontrol didn't really say anything about the casters, but Husky pretty much said implicitly that those casters should had refused that job because they are the only ones benefiting from it. I understand why he say that, while standing on a higher moral ground where KeSPA should just TRY HARDER, but the truth is, those guys maybe love SC2 and want to cast, and such an opportunity is huge while most casters are already "established". I wouldn't blame a guy for taking an opportunity, i would blame the guy who didn't care enough about the english broadcast in the very first place to give us the quality such event deserves.

Yes my english sucks :d

. I don't even play DOTA 2 (I didn't know anything about it) but I watched it all weekend. It is sad that SC2 doesn't have any good casters like that

"I don't know anything about DOTA 2 but the casters were incredible, even though I have absolutely no frame of reference or any knowledge that would tell me whether or not they are any good!". Riiiiiight. If I rolled my eyes anymore I'd pass out.

You don't think the community is entitled to good casting? We are customers of eSports who support the casters, players, tournament organizers, etc's life styles and expect a good experience in return. What am I missing here? Of course it's "entitlement in action", wtf? Why shouldn't you be thankful that there are people left to support what you do?

The DOTA 2 casters were incredible because they kept me excited for an entire weekend for a game I have never seen or played. It was fun, I had a great time. I watch SC2 on mute. Why do I need a frame of reference to enjoy myself? Seriously, go watch the DOTA 2 finals from DH. The casting is great.

I think unlike others, I don't hold it to such a high regard. I can see why people emphasize its importance and their concerns, but for the foreign scene, there are plenty of other outlets to draw in new viewers and such (too many to be honest).

As purely just a spectator, the importance of which casters should cast Proleague to give it the best professional light is beyond my realm of care. I like what I'm seeing and it's fine :B

Reminder that one day we will look back at this and realize we could have saved e-sports, but instead we had too many casuals calling people 'entitled' and 'egotistical' because it was easier than addressing the problems like adults and Kespa will close up again and be Korea only.

At least we can thank the based Korean re-streamers.

Though I did subscribe to the PL stream, when the new casting began, I just started watching the Korean feed instead.

I'll add in my 2 cents. Personally, I do not enjoy the new casters, in that they do not speak well, they do not describe the game well and the "gg" yelling is quite grating. That being said, I can weather that storm because I love watching PL and a lot of the matchups this season have been quite entertaining. On the other hand, my mother watches tons of Starcraft, and I'm sad to see her to not tune in to PL because of the amateur casting. She says listening to them makes her feel too embarrassed, and I can see why.

I do not think that these issues are the new casters' fault; this is all KESPA's fault imo, but that makes the issue all the more difficult to approach. As a consumer, I am motivated both to boycott PL in the hopes that KESPA actually listens to the foreign audience that will keep their league afloat and continue to watch out of love for the game and interest in EG-TL's progress. This sort of cognitive dissonance worries me for the future, at least a future that includes KESPA.
