This is just weird, clinton talks to cain once a week?
2 more weeks and the most horrible candidate in history will be elected president. Why did biden not run? wasn't it common practice that the vice president ran for president after 8 year term?

I definitely feel like there's a lot of recency bias here because I'm pretty some past presidents were way way worse. How would you rate Bush vs proposed Hillary? Unless you mean Trump but even then I feel like he'd be completely ignored when he proposes policies. He bring enough of his people in to do some crazy stuff though...

Biden didn't run again because his wife and daughter, and then son passed away recently and he got tired. Can't blame him.

http://people.com/celebrity/joe-bidens-family-tragedies/

Okay I actually read the article... can we please stop blatantly taking quotes out of context? Like seriously this is ridiculous the amount of times people just take the worst phrases they can find. The article actually paints Kaine in a much better light than I expected from your tone.

Kaine says he's not yet in Clinton's trusted circles so they only talk every several days to once a week, but he's not too worried now because he believes Clinton picked him because he's not in her circle, so he still thinks he's a trusted advisor.

You can spin that into either Clinton believes that she shouldn't be biased to people in her circles, or she wants Kaine's supporters.

Kaine still remains somewhat of an outsider in Clinton's world. She has developed trusted relationships with several aides over decades and Kaine is a new addition to the mix.

He's at times been out of the loop on major developments, such as not knowing about Clinton's pneumonia diagnosis in September until days later. The two campaign together infrequently, but communicate by text message, email and phone. Sometimes they talk every few days, but it could be as infrequent as once a week, Kaine said.

Their scheduled joint appearance in Pennsylvania on Saturday was their first event together since Labor Day.

But Kaine said he's not worried about lacking a voice in a Clinton administration and expects to be a principal adviser to her on the most difficult issues if she wins. He said he thinks Clinton picked him over longtime confidants specifically because he was not a member of the inner circle from way back.
"I'm not worried about, you know, getting my two cents in," he said.

Kaine said his experience as Virginia's lieutenant governor and as Democratic National Committee chairman during President Barack Obama's first term has showed him how to be a strong adviser and asset for Clinton.

Kaine might be well-positioned to work with Republicans, having won three statewide races — lieutenant governor, governor and senator — in historically Republican Virginia, although the state has started going Democratic in presidential contests. Now in his fourth year as a senator, he said he's already talking with Republicans about working together after the election.

Clinton is stepping up efforts to help Democrats recapture Senate control but Kaine didn't make a specific pitch for a Democratic Senate. He said he's more focused on finding policies Republicans and Democrats can agree on.

"I have very good relations with Republicans in the Senate," Kaine said. "There's some people who really want to get some good work done."
There is no one like you in the universe.

It was clear from my tone in the post I was poking fun at a social media screw up, rather than citing it as the final smoking gun proving it all.

That 99% of these "Twitter bombshells" turn out to be bunk has led me to be rather unwilling to consider them to be worth paying any attention to.

All right, fine. My attempt to poke fun at Russian state media fell flat. We can't win them all.

Speak for yourself, when Donald Trump gets in you'll be tired of winning.

Partly because HRC successfully scared off all but the insane or insanely brave from taking her on. But mostly because he's actually a human being, unlike so many in his line of work, and was deeply affected by his personal tragedy... he's had more than his share.

It's really a shame, because I would have voted for him. At the same time, I don't think, if I were in his position, that I would have run for president either.

Yeah. Agreed on both. Him versus Trump would have been something else though.

But while he would have coasted through the general, the primary would have been a bear. It would have been a lot of the DNC and establishment against a lot of the Obama camp. Obviously, Biden's high reputation for decency and trustworthiness would have provided a clear contrast with HRC (or Trump), and he would have picked up a certain amount of the "anybody but Hillary" crowd who formed a chunk of Sanders' support, but he wouldn't have represented quite the same level of shift from status quo that Sanders did. And with Sanders in the race, Biden would have been fighting on both flanks. Still, it would have forced Hillary from her "another Obama term" claim and might have enabled him to get a large part of the minority support Clinton claimed on that basis (and the basis of electability, where he would also have had the edge).

In any event, I think it's fair to say either Sanders or Biden would be leading this race by an even greater margin at this point, though it'll still be a blowout.

8 years ago I looked at Obama vs McCain and thought how happy the USA could be to have two such candidates, but also that McCain was a good candidate wasted in an unwinnable election. Nowadays, both have lost much of my respect, but I still would probably have picked either of them over the current candidates. And now I almost can't believe I said that I would actually consider voting for a republican.

Is there any serious analysis how another republican might have done against Hillary? My impression from far away is that someone like Pence would have had a good chance at winning this election.

Probably because no one gave a fuck about Kasich and thought him not being Clinton was enough.

Clinton really needs to calm down with her Russia conspiracy theories.

Except for the bit where the US government and every expert says it has all the signs of being a Russian hack.
A statement that, considering the current tensions between the US and Russia would not be made lightly.

You know, just minor details.

It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

that is exactly why the Gov. made that statement; to escalate tensions, get more people aboard the hate train.
anyway, this dude https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Binney_(U.S._intelligence_official) says that "a disgruntled U.S. intelligence worker" did it; Putin also said he didn't do it:
“But I want to tell you again, I don’t know anything about it, and on a state level Russia has never done this.”
.
when in a he said she said situation you just choose your side; no need to feel righteous about it tho.

If Russia is somehow working with Trump then why did Trump run an anti-Putin ad calling him an "opponent" of the US?

The political organization of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, an influential Democrat with longstanding ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, gave nearly $500,000 to the election campaign of the wife of an official at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who later helped oversee the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email use.

Campaign finance records show Mr. McAuliffe’s political-action committee donated $467,500 to the 2015 state Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe, who is married to Andrew McCabe, now the deputy director of the FBI.

best case scenario for you dudes is to put Clinton in jail and have Bernie win the presidential, else you're fucked.

Edit: also, get a load of this one http://www.thenewamerican.com/reviews/books/item/24463-impeaching-hillary
Impeachment also explores how the two military misadventures in Libya and Syria lead directly to the creation of “a safe space for ISIS, a new killing field. Obama and Clinton have the blood of tens of thousands on their hands.” Indeed, Impeachment argues that the growth of ISIS is directly attributable to the interventions in Syria and Libya and resulted in increased terrorism both domestically within the United States as well as in Europe, and caused the worsening refugee crisis. Impeachment delves into how Obama’s foreign policy interventionism, with Hillary’s guidance, has brought us to the brink of war with nuclear-power Russia by covertly starting the Syrian civil war. “Turkey, a U.S. ally, has already shot down a Russian plane. Had Russia chosen to retaliate against Turkey, the United States would have faced pressure to join the fight and further escalation would have been likely. As of July, 2016, no one knows how any of this will end. What we do know is that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton helped it begin.”
for a book, is not half bad.

To throw off the scent?

That doesn't seem like a very well-thought-through ad anyway. If I wanted to make a case to voters for trump, and had to choose an aspect in which trump was at least arguably superior, i think just about the last one I'd go for is "likelihood to make the US a punchline around the world." That's, like, the number one thing Donald Trump has already almost certainly done and would continue to do in office.
