When he went after the khan family, that was the only time I've seen him actually take hit in the polls I guess it depends on what you mean by "lost" I'd say he did poorly, and maybe a bit worse than average; and hillary did well, and a bit better than her average. But I feel that "winning" in the context of the debate, really means whether you improved or worsened your odds of winning the election; and hence is mostly going to be assessed by the poll numbers. I don't have a good sense of how typical people will respond, as I, and everyone I know, are atypical people.
I hope he gets his shit together. He has should address attacks with a sentence or two and go right back on offense. Stop defending the birther movement, or who you called fat with lengthy explanations that aren't very coherent to begin with. He has so much ammunition but limited time, and he really needs to take his gloves off for the remainder of the two debates.
In the first 30-40 minutes he was doing great, stayed relatively composed and was on offense. Then he became very defensive and lost control. If you are explaining yourself, you are losing. These things have nothing to do with policy but are all optics, and he has plenty of zingers but failed to use them to make her look bad.

I'm not sure what "average" is in this case, though.
Politically, in America, you'd expect about a 50/50 split between Hillary and Trump based on previous polling data in 538 and other reputable sources, but I don't know what the benchmark ratio is for NA/EU.

I'd rather people win on matters of policy than optics, but sadly that's not the world we live in

There are not all that many "Europeans" in the US. Mostly just recent immigrants. And the European right is our left, which leads to obvious liberal tendencies.

When you say "European right," who exactly are you referring to?

What do you mean by mainstream but not populist? Aren't a lot of the political problems facing Europe related to the fact that the aforementioned distinction is collapsing much like it has here?

I'd assume he's talking about Merkels Party (CDU) or something else like that when referring to "European right"

Mainly in Eastern Europe, as long as the French don't elect Sarkozy we should be good

Well I definitely think that one of the reasons why TL is more liberal than the average American sample is because there is decent European representation and not just Americans, sure.

You may have missed his embarrassing interruptions during those 30-40 minutes.
Hillary consulted with psychiatrists, experts on narcissism, and played Trump like a toy.

With some exceptions of course.

When a handful of posts on Teamliquid looks like an obsession, Trump appears to be winning.
Thanks for the rule of thumb Zeo
