How do you guys think the DNC vs. RNC speeches and oration have compared so far? I think the best RNC speakers were Trump's children, but not even they were anywhere near as eloquent or inspirational as Michelle Obama, and I think that Bernie's and Cory's speeches were incredibly well constructed and high tier compared to the RNC too... and this is only being able to select from the few speeches so far on day one of the DNC compared to everything the RNC had to offer. I don't know if the DNC can keep up several quality speeches each night, but barring a complete meltdown or scandal, it looks like the DNC speakers are higher quality.

Both Michelle and Cory had better speeches than anyone who spoke at the RNC, so yeah

That's the problem that I did underestimate.
Trump has to win this race alone,he got almost no popular figures and well known politicians who will campaign for him. And even the politicians that support him, they only support him halve. Clinton has many, that much is clear now.
Maybe he can win by himself but if all the democratic vips go campaigning for Clinton I don't see how.

Given current trends, with a few tweaks to his approach, the Republican nominee could win Pennsylvania for the first time in a quarter century. In recent years, the state of Pennsylvania has been pithily described as “Lucy’s Football” — as a place where, however favorable the winds might seem, the Republican party’s aspirations are always thwarted. In this piece, I will make the case that, while this trend has certainly been apparent for the last couple of decades, it is by no means destined to continue forever. In making this case, I will look at the recent electoral history of the state, examine recent changes in voter registration, analyze demographic data provided by the U.S. Census, hone in on primary-season participation at both the county and municipal levels, and take into account recent polling (as of July 16, 2016). In so doing, I shall demonstrate that not only is Pennsylvania a rare brightening prospect for the GOP, but that it may in fact prove uniquely fitting for the party’s 2016 nominee, Donald Trump.

Why Donald Trump can win Pennsylvania- National Review

I agree with ideas, but Pennsyltucky isn't big enough to outweigh Philly, Pittsburg and other metro areas which are growing larger and more liberal. Trump's unique potential is countered by two big weaknesses: a lousy ground game (a lot of GOP gains were due to shoveling $$$'s into the state) and his abysmally low share of the minority vote.

I agree that the speakers were stronger both in skill and tone of the message. The lack of doom and gloom was refreshing. And the DNC has more to talk about in general, with more accomplishments under their belt for the last 8 years.

The NPR politics podcast is also saying that they spoke with reasonable number of Bernie supporters who don’t agree with the booing and heckling. We will see how long they keep it up for. I sort of hope they realize that they made their point and maybe try to boo less and talk to people.

Well it's 100% Trump's fault too. When you make everyone your enemy by belittling and hating and spreading fear, you don't get many allies. That's why he got stuck with Mike Pence as VP; no one else wanted to be his runningmate lol.

They'll have some technically good speeches every day -- particularly the headliners. But the ones that will matter will be those on the last day. That's when there will be maximum eyeballs and attention. For as rough as the Republican convention was, Trump still turned it into a big win with good performances on the last night. Hillary is going to have to do the same. Ultimately, the call is to vote for her, not the people speaking before her.

I understand that that's hyperbole, but do you think all he does is shitpost? If anything, plasmidghost was the shitposter, considering he was just trolling and pasting stupid Reddit one-liners (that's what he said he was doing, anyway)

GGtemplar and plansix are the main shitposters. It wasnt hyperbole. Plansix had about 150 of the 300 posts, ggtemplar probably like 75-90.

I felt like i was just reading them shitpost back and forth and everything else got drowned out.

if anyone thinks either of them wasn't shitposting, sorry but you're in an echo chamber

Eh, I guess you and I have different standards for shitposting. Quantity might reduce quality, but I still think they had plenty of quality posts too
