He's the 2016 version of Huntsman.

Kasich may have made the most salient comments, but he was ignored time wise, especially in the last half of the debate.

Comparing Kasich to Huntsman is pretty disingenuous, I don't think Huntsman's constituents loathed him with a fiery passion and I think in his policy area of choice (foreign policy) he was exponentially more knowledgeable.

It's also clear Huntsman doesn't mind Obama too much, what with serving under his administration.

Neither of them has a snowball's chance in Texas in their respective elections though,so there's that.

Edit: I think the media will pitch the Trump doesn't know his own campaign site angle really hard. He'll exploit it for more airtime in the end, though, so he'll be fine.

Rubio, Trump, Carson, and Cruz somewhat come out winners.

Bush, the rest losers. Big. Especially Bush.

Kasich sure did get a lot of time for being last in the polls.

That only adds up to a little over an hour? Wasn't it like a 2 hour debate? Does that only count the direct candidate time and not all the back and forth bullshit that was happening?

Rubio came out big in this one. I'm expecting it to be much closer between him, Trump and Carson now, though I suspect Carson will lose a bit to him, and Trump will continue to hover around where he is.

Bush looks defeated. Cruz did alright. Kasich did just well enough to stick in. Huckabee and Christie need to give up and step aside. Paul's numbers probably won't change, ever. So it doesn't matter if he quits now or later.

Trump and Carson are kind of a joke.
Jeb, Cruz, and Rubio are going to get nothing done.
Huckabee is just too crazy.
Christie just comes off as an ass.

Nobody in the Democratic or Republican primaries is going to get anything done without getting a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a majority in the House.

The thing that matters most is Supreme Court justice nominations. And maybe Department nominations.

indeed, that's why my platform is to talk about things you can actually do as president, by focusing on nominations for posts, as well as oversight/making sure people do their jobs well. It also might help a bit with separation of powers if the president didn't do, or have to try to do, congress's (how to pluralize?) job.

Carson just totally butchered his tax plan with Chuck Todd. This is brutal.

I agree with those who are saying Rubio, Cruz, and Trump did well. Carson would have come out positive if it wasn't for that awkward and lame closing remark. It was basically "Thank you everyone, and btw fuck PC." What the hell was that?

Cruz and Rubio easily came out ahead of the rest. I still stand by Rubio winning the nomination at the end of the day.

Jeb did almost irreversible damage, I see next to no path to him towards the nomination now tbh.

Trump did good enough to stay near the top.

Carson seemed a bit out of it, flubbed on the tax question and I agree with caelym, closing statement was awful. I see his numbers dropping after tonight.

Fiorina did good enough for another temporary poll boost, but she's going to have to do start doing something outside the debates to really gain any momentum.

Christie I thought actually had his best debate. He might start to sneak up in the polls, seemed to capitalize on weak moderators at right times along with Cruz and Rubio.

Paul was forgettable again, seemed more interested in talking about his filibuster tomorrow than his presidential aspirations. Kasich said some nice things again but I don't see his numbers changing as a result. Same with Huckabee.

Americans’ appetite for more gun control has increased slightly over the past two years, according to poll results released Tuesday, and the National Rifle Association launched a campaign calling for the federal government to better enforce existing regulations and put, as the NRA’s chief put it, “thugs” and “gangbangers” in prison.

An Associated Press/GFK poll found that 58 percent of Americans support stronger gun laws, compared with 52 percent in December 2013. But the poll showed that Democrats and Republicans as well as rural and urban Americans remain sharply divided over what should be done to reduce the 30,000 gun deaths — 20,000 of them suicides — reported in the United States each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

About 80 percent of Democrats surveyed expressed support for stronger gun regulations, compared with 46 percent of moderate and liberal Republicans, the AP poll found. Among all surveyed Republicans, 20 percent thought existing gun laws should be less strict, and 41 percent said they favored no change.

Americans living in urban areas, especially the Northeast, were more likely to favor restrictions, with 60 percent saying new laws would be a good idea. In rural areas, just 40 percent said they wanted new laws.

If Fiorina starts to gain any serious traction, I expect it'll draw attention to her complete ass record at HP. If the two big achievements on you resume are "I ran one of America's greatest companies into the ground" and "I sold $2B of stuff to a guy by giving the guy a $2B loan" you don't deserve to run McDonald's let alone the country.

Except most people don't make a $2.1B loan to a company with $1.6M in revenue. The company would literally go bankrupt from interest payments alone.
