What mousepad material would you say be best for starcraft/rts usage? Like Cloth/Glass/Aluminum/Hard plastic etc For me personally I'd want my mouse to slide faster What types of mousepads do the most pros use? (beside the sponsoring brand, but material itself) Does the type of a mousepad really plays a big role on RTS gaming, or is it all about preference and whatever the most comfortable to each one? I have a steel series qck + mousepad which is rubber bottom and cloth at top, but it died in me real quickly like 6 months, almost impossible to use now. Should I order up a new and a fresh one, or try something else? tata

I find cloth to be the most comfortable over extended periods. Not for the mouse, but for my hand.
|
I use a piece of paper for mine.
|
I use a sheet of hard plastic with adhesive on the bottom.
Works 100% as good as commercial mousepads.
|
Did you already wash your QCK mouse pad? It should last longer than 6 months. I have mine for years and the cloth is still not degraded in any way. I wash it by hand with shampoo.

I have the over sized SK gaming mousepad from steelseries. I guess I would call it synthetic material. Most pro gamers have one like mine (like to ppl on SK, EG, fnatic...)

@Ropid yeah I did, there are bits with almost no cloth even left on it, missclick a lot of units while in game now, accuracy is just terrible @ everyone thanks for posting

If your accuracy is terrible and your mouse movements don't feel the same then yeah it's time for a new mousepad. Cloth vs Hard mat is all preference - razer has a pretty good detailed guide on their site somewhere. I been using cloth ever since the beginning and I like it - getting a hard mat next week though to see if I like it better.

It depends on the mouse, as to which mousepad to use.
For example, the way it tracks, the Sensei is best used on a reflective hardmat.
Go for something that keeps you consistent.

If you have like a card game playmat (like a magic playmat) ive found there really good plus they are really large.

everything is about what you are comfortable with that is why many Korean pros use old mice that they have always used
|
I can only give you feedback on hard plastic / cloth.
When I switched from plastic to cloth, they seemed just about equal (hard plastic mouse scrolling slightly more smooth, completely negligible though).
Cloth is a bit more comfortable to leave my hand on for extended periods of gaming.
