What kind of comparison is this? It's not even remotely comparable. It would be like the english teacher said this near a crowd of people and then this random anon-crowd took it upon themselves to visit his workplace and talk to the principal to get him punished for it. The task of punishing this behavior in the professional circuit is not yours.

Doesn't Blizzard have a language filter automatically on when you install the game? Isn't it your fault for turning it off and then getting offended by what people say?
Honestly.

I don't see why he get angry for being thrown away after a racist comment. It might be a bit of an overreaction but it's really easy to not have to deal with it, just don't make racist comments on stream.
I'm not really a fan of destiny and it's not because of anything drama related, i just don't see him being really good. But anyway, it's a sad news for him..

Pretty sure he's referring to computer games, not sports, where you're actually interacting with real people face to face. I don't think you'd expect Destiny or Orb to ever walk up to an actual black or asian man/woman in a gaming venue and say that to them in anger -- which is why no one except people like you give a shit.

Of course not, that would require courage.

See, I've been saying that people excusing the use of racial slurs are assholes and cowards, and also passively engaging in the destruction of history through the misuse of language... But I didn't care what happened to destiny. I didn't care if he care if he got fired or whatever... He certainly didn't need to be "blacked out."
These issues are each bits of evidence as to why Esporsts will never been accepted in the mainstream. There are two many subcultures and internal conflicts. You have those that just want to make money (casters, irrelevant players who are known for personality and not accomplishments), corporate interests (sponsors, tournaments), TL's need for growth and preservation, we have casual gamers, recreational gamers, obsessed gamers, and pro gamers. The biggest issue is that we have the dark side of the gamer crowd: the emotionally unstable homophobes and racists, the ignorant, and the uneducated. We will always have these people. You can't get away from it, and you can't ban them all.

He's not being racist towards them, just a dick. And it wouldn't require courage, it'd require a severe lack of social aptitude, or an acute sense of racism -- or both. Very distinct differences that have gone over your head time and time again.

It's rather funny that a huge controversy blew up in the fighting game community recently over a player making sexist comments but people still feel that it's ok to defend racist speech in Starcraft 2 no matter what the intent is.

How does saying it in a game online make it justifiable while saying it in person is not? You've been unable to explain how that would make any difference.
He's not being racist towards them, just a dick. Not mutually exclusive... it's both. How is using a racial slur, especially the one that specifically refers to the person you're insulting, not racist?
And it wouldn't require courage, it'd require a severe lack of social aptitude, or an acute sense of racism -- or both Again, there is no contradiction there. It would require all of the above.

The fuck? We're not defending racist speech. We're voicing outrage over people going to sponsors over the most trivial of shit.

Because I don't think he's racist against asian people. He just said the most vicious insults he could think of at the time of his rage, and in a sudden lack of creativity, spouted gook. The world will end. AFK hiding in my bunker.

You know, I never thought about this. I just started up a custom game with the filter on and tried a host of different slurs, and while not all were blocked, "gook" definitely was, so why does this user consciously choose to turn the filter off (it is ON by default) and then get offended when people use foul language online?

Yep. I really don't care when I choose my keyboard that one brand happens to sponsor a team, who employed a player who said a racist word 3 months ago. No one else does either, they just go out of their way to be offended.

You conveniently unquoted the follow up to its the internet that clarifies how little of an impact it has on anyone except the people acting offended. And when I say impact, I mean to the point that they literally look at a particular brand of mouse and cringe in agony at the thought of the racist word that this brand now endorses apparently. Cause no one actually does that, they just wanna see Destiny gone for their own personal satisfaction.
You seem to be confusing the arguments of whether or not its okay to say racist words, and whether or not lynch mobs are entitled to barrage sponsors over fucking up and saying 1 racist word once -- not going on a tangent about how much they hate the race, they just say a bunch of insults that included a racist word. With no chance to apologize.
Apparently we agree he's not racist. Let's both agree what he said was bad. The drama that followed was way over the top.

It wasn't just calling out. Rather than simply not support him, or agree vocally hes a douche bag for what he says, or any of that, they did what community members found to be the most effective way to get what they want and barrage sponsors with fake threats of boycotting their brand. No one associates Razor with having said that word, they associate it with Destiny. You don't have to watch him or like him. There ARE people who enjoy him, despite how much you may disagree with Destiny or his fans.
