Exept that you can say "HEy im wearing 200$ jeans!" Maybe there is no difference, if you're blind. There might be a difference. MAybe, here i am not sure, all expensive stuff is nice and comfortable. But you gotta look some to find nice cheap stuff. I dunno about you but i prefer to waste a couple of hours and save myself some money. I've looked about as hard as you can humanly look for cheap clothes that fit and look as nice as more expensive clothes do. They simply don't exist. To be honest, I don't have $200 to spend on jeans, so if I ever found anything that was similar to some $200 jeans, or whatever, but way cheaper, I'd jump on that motherfucker.

I mean, honestly, caring about your appearance is one thing. It's a reflection of self-esteem, pride and can be a form of individualist expression. Then there is just plain vanity. What disturbes me most about this thread are posts which say that $200 (AMERICAN!) is not an excessive amount of money to pay for a single article of clothing. There really is not that big of a difference, yes they look better, but not that much better. Someone dropped a few quotes from Fight Club in this thread, and while I enjoyed that movie I found its anti-consumer rhetoric to be a little bit over the top. After reading the quantity of these posts I am begining to reconsider. Yes people make snap judgements about you based upon the clothes you wear, and if someone is dressed like shit you automatically take a negative view. And yes, if you enter a jewelry store in a hang-ten tshirt you're probably not going to get the same service as a person in a Hugo Boss suit. But try the flipside; I consider myself fortunate that I have a group of friends and a broad social circle that would think me a pretentious fuck if I spent more on my outfit that bills and food that month. Try walking into your average pub, diner, restraunt in clothes that scream 'look at me - i have money - my life rules' as opposed to a normal, nice outfit and see the response. I can't speak for anyone else but I can easily spot the difference between a person who lets their appearance reflect the respect they have for themselves, and those who try to mask their lack of self-esteem with expensive outfits. I'm willing to bet theirs just a few of the latter in this post. Thanks, now I won't have to write this post ![]()

you pay a fuck load more for stuff thats (not even) half as good when it comes to quality. then you might come up with the design aspect. well i can tell you, most of what those expensive brands sell in stores is hardly distinguishable from cloths that cost only 1 tenth. so in the end its all just a way for those with money to brag about "oh look at all the money i can waste on clothing" and a way for those without a sense of fashion to not have to make their own choices but simply pick only clothes of certain brands, by paying just a liiiiiittle more... its a great opportunity for those less fortunate/secure/intelligent/etc.

LOL. . Haha before you make a quick moronic judgement without knowing anything about me, I know more about fasion than her trust me, My mum was a designer for more than 20 years and my dad was a manufacturer for more than 20 years. We had our own brand for more than fuckin 20 years. She knows more becuase she vaguely poses in front of the camera with the clothes on designed by someone else? In addtion, models don't make a fortune unless you're a somebody, meaning supermodel so I really doubt she is able to spend 20 times more than me when I probably make heaps more money than her. There are like 240897520852542 models in the states.

1) What you look like directly correlates to your social status. 2) Mommy and Daddy are buying those clothes for them. When you get to college, you'll see the return of the hooded sweatshirt and you'll find yourself wearing stuff that is comfortable over outfits that cost half a grand. You might have a couple nicer outfits for when you go out on the weekends, but besides that you won't find yourself wearing anything important most of the time. In my time at college, I think I probably wore pajama pants, a hoodie, and a backwards hat to 95% of my morning classes. Now that I'm out of college, I've noticed that I now have money to afford a more expensive wardrobe. When you go to clubs, the superficial appearance theme returns and you need a few decent outfits if you don't want to look out of place there. Beyond that, I have my casual business attire (shirt/tie/slacks) and when I'm not wearing that, I just wear your run of the mill t-shirt and cargo shorts.

If you are in a dorm with community showers, definitely. I was fortuante to never have that. When I lived in the dorms, I always had a bathroom either to myself or shared between 4 or less people. With only 4 using it, you can easily control how clean it stays so you can walk in it barefoot. If you're really edgy about spreading of disease, definitely have flipflops to wear in the shower. It won't be nearly as clean as your bathroom at home. 4 college guys are typically a LOT more prone to avoid cleaning the bathroom for weeks at a time.

I used to buy name brand jeans before I realized that there is no percievable difference whatsoever. They are both made in the same place, except in China there are 1000x more styles and sizes. Buying jeans in Canada/US is a pain in the ass, the general population is way too obese and its hard to find good waist sizes. When you buy name brand you are buying the brand. I don't know about Sean John, Seven7 jeans or whatever, but there usually IS a perceivable difference in terms of quality. That being said, I think certain articles of clothing are overpriced even though they may be slightly better. One good example would be Lacoste polos... ugh they are ridiculously expensive. But if they were on sale, at say $50 US I probably would not object to buying a pair.
