Greetings ladies 'n' gentlemen and Salam Aleikum to you muslims
I have been peeking through the "Gay Starcraft Players" threads and I saw some unity there, and I was thinking "Hell, why don't I make a thread like that" I want to see if there are a lot of muslims playing Starcraft 2 and what kind of leagues they are and if they want a practice partner?
Up until now my TL account has only been to lurk around and watch live streams, but it's time that I make a thread. I want to see if we are many who play starcraft.
Please don't flame in the thread, I want to have nice civilized discussions, remember what it says in the Qur'an muslims, God dislikes attackers.
1st Question ; Do you go to friday prayer?
2nd Question ; Do people BM you because you're a muslim? (That happens to me )
3rd Question ; Did you know it's Muhammed (SAW) birthday today?
I can also make use of this thread to people who want to know more about islam like, if they've heard something about Islam and want to ask if its true, step right up and ask. I won't bite, or blow myself up because suicide is forbidden in our religion.
Funfact : Did you know that Moses the jews prophet is our prophet aswell, and Jesus is our prophet aswell?
I realize there's some people who hate my religion, therefore I ask of you please don't turn this thread into a discussion about religion. This thread wasn't created for that. Follow the thread, don't go off topic.
What do you feel is harder between doing everything "by the book" and respecting every 5 prayers a day, not drinking alcohol, etc, or not doing it and potentially being viewed as a "bad" muslim?

Hello and thanks for the question. The thing is nowadays, people are so obsessed with materialism, we all like our earthly things, and who can blame us? Islam condones spiritualism and that means, we don't need anything earthly, we don't need no label clothes, but this is harder to pull off in reality. So of course to follow the stream and be like the majority of the people and not follow the Qur'An fully only on the points that you want to is easier. However if you take up a life of pure islam, you'll feel a calm aswell, in Islam you are required to do all the 5 prayers and fast and give money to the poor, but many people find this hard to do and according to the Qur'An this is because the lack of "Iman" (Belief in your heart in god) or that the devil doesn't want you to do this, so he talks you out of it (Subliminally, subconsciously)
Summary : Of course it's easier to live your life outside of the rules of the book, but many of the rules in the book are just laws that existed before they were instated to the countries. Suiciding for instance, stealing, killing innocents, killing a fly or snapping a twig. Most of the regulations in the Qur'an are just laws that came before the laws if you catch my drift, thanks for the question.
Funfact ; Did you know that it says in the Qur'An that we muslim are brothers with the christians and the jews, we are all the children of the book. (Christians have the genesis, jews have the torah, we have the Qur'An.)
I am a Muslim (proud one) and I am from Palestine.
1. I go to Fajr Prayer aswell (thanks to God). 2. Not really, I got one BM as far as I remember. 3. It is Mohammad's Birthday, and it is an official holiday here.
Another fun fact: 1. There is a day, called "Ashora'a" Where Muslimes (Sunni) Fast all day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasting), do you know why? Because on that day, God saved Mousa (peace upno him) and his followers (Bani Isra'il) from the sea and Pharaoh, so Muslims Fast on that day as a thankful to God,
On February 04 2012 20:12 cydial wrote: Do you actually believe in the wizardry and what not in your religion or do you believe in it out of fear of social suicide?
In Islam we believe in witchcraft, black arts. The ability to communicate with djinn (Look up djinn exorcism in youtube to see a muslim exorcism) mainly because I've seen what witchcraft does to people, if you're paranoid about getting a spell cast on you, avoid eating food other people cook, don't let anybody get a hold of a photo of you, or a hair. With one of these you can officially be hexed, this goes on for the bigger part in Marocko, Tunisia, Algeria. Beneath King Solomon's temple were some scriptures from one of our prophets, he had figured out a way to summon djinn, he wanted to keep these scriptures from people, but zionists invaded the temple and took the scriptures and treasures. That's how the witchcraft got into the world today. I've seen a guy who has read these scriptures tell me detailed of what happens when you do it etc. he showed me some freaky stuff to be honest, something a man himself can't perform. I'm very well aware that in the current state the world is in, people will think I'm crazy if I believe in witchcraft and stuff, but I've seen proof and you can read about it in the Qur'An. Lastly, I don't care what people think of me, I'm not living my life to please the people, even though I do subconsciously because what I've been told, I'm a laidback guy.
Aleikum wa salam bdair2002, very happy to see you aswell my brother.
I am also a proud muslim alhamdulilah
I try to go to fajr prayer but I'm most of the time sleeping. Friday prayer overlaps with my school so that's kind of hard aswell.
Salamat al el falistini. How is it going down there in Palestine, may god help you.
I am wondering does neo paganism exist in muslim counties? Are people, besides in Egypt, even aware what their believes were before islam? Also do guys that listen to metal run around in T-Shirts with Odin or Thor's hammer etc over there too?

I like whatever music genre as long as it sounds good, I like Metallica, Nickelback and so on. But I don't wear metal t-shirts or anything like that. Also wearing a sign of Odin or Thor's hammer is Shirq, meaning you're praising another god, and that is one of the biggest haram you can do.

Ok. So I read the authors previous posts here on TL. To sum it up: He thinks 9/11 was a hoax, he thinks the Bin Laden raid was a trick, he thinks Hitler didnt kill as many jews as claimed and he got banned for posting shit in the gay thread. Now to my question.
Ive read that Muslims are forbidden to ask questions. Is this true or is it misinformation? If it is true, Id imagine that most people dont abide by this rule. What are the punishment for doing so ?

You can ask many questions as you want. A cornerstone of Islam is knowledge, and you're not gonna get far without asking.
And while I'm here:
1. Yes 2. All the time, including my friends and random people on the street once or twice. You just live with it 3. Yep
Funfact ; Did you know that it says in the Qur'An that we muslim are brothers with the christians and the jews, we are all the children of the book. (Christians have the genesis, jews have the torah, we have the Qur'An.)
Does the quran not also call for muslims to never beffriend muslims and christians?
Qur'an (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."
Don't BFF jews and christians.
Qur'an (5:80) - "You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide."
Punishment of hell upon doing so.
Qur'an (3:28) - "Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah.
Loophole, you can act nice to Jews and Christians but only if you are faking it. You must never show them kindness on the inside.
But maybe that's in the translation. Maybe in Arabic this should translate into "everyone is best friends forever." Even though even scholars:
Renowned scholar Ibn Kathir states that "believers are allowed to show friendship outwardly, but never inwardly."
Page one also has a reference to how zionists (let's just call them what you mean, the jews) are responsible for unleashing the black arts on the world.
Anyway, let's not pretend any of the 3 abrahamic religions is saying that the other 2 are just as cool. It's one out of 3, if you get it wrong, you burn in hell.
The only one to mention the other 2 by names is, logically, the youngest of the 3.
I don't think many people who call themselves Muslim keep to this rule, in the western world anyhow - like how Christians don't stone their children to death etc. From a SC perspective tough I wonder whether, for those who do keep to this rule, it would be okay to play teamgames with non-muslims?
On February 04 2012 22:20 shaftofpleasure wrote: Why is there a need for people to incorporate themselves with an idea like religion, sex preference or race?
It's pathetic. Who gives a fuck if you're a muslim, gay or black?
If you've ever been in a position where your social identity is a minority, you would know how much it can mean to people to connect to each other. As a white, heterosexual man in Sweden, I don't often come across this feeling. But when I do, it's a quite strong feeling. I think these threads are excellent.
Since the OP has been BM'd because of his religion in games, I think it's obvious that people "give a fuck" : )

And what are the consequences?
Well if you're a muslim then you have already decided to worship Allah, the same god for the jews and the christians. Going off and worshipping another god when you're a muslim is very hypocritical, don't you think? Well I guess the consequence would be that you're not a muslim anymore since you're not really following the Qur'An
"Ok I have a question.. Can you be a humanist if you are a muslim, and if you do, will your fellow muslims resent you?"
Why would they do that? Islam is about love and unity, we don't hate each other, we don't harm each other. Like a wise man once said, there's good people and bad people, you don't need to generalise further.
"Ok. So I read the authors previous posts here on TL. To sum it up: He thinks 9/11 was a hoax, he thinks the Bin Laden raid was a trick, he thinks Hitler didnt kill as many jews as claimed and he got banned for posting shit in the gay thread. Now to my question.

I didn't shit on the gay thread, as I said to the moderator that warned me, you're supposed to express emotions on the internet and happiness is an emotion, that's what I meant with lol. I hate Bin Laden but yet I still don't believe he's dead solely based off the reason that they searched for him for like 10 years and spent a lot of tax payers money, yet when they found him, they don't provide body pictures and sink him into the ocean, I'm sorry bro but democracy is about asking questions and not believing the information you get fed by the government, I'm sorry if that's how you live. I don't think Hitler killed as many jews as is claimed, yet I still believe he killed a lot. I still feel sorry for the jews, because as previously said they are our brothers in religion.
Of course you're allowed to ask questions as a muslim, do you think we're a fascistic religion? Our religion is all about love and knowledge.

Qur'an (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."
-You just committed one of the biggest haram's, you tried to change the qur'an to fit your argument. The verse really goes like this, allies can mean in war, doesn't mean friendship ONLY.-
"O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people."
The disbelievers are the atheists and people who believe in any other religion than christianity, islam and judaism.
Don't BFF jews and christians.
Qur'an (5:80) - "You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide."
Again, you changed a verse from the quran the verse goes really like this, disbelievers are atheists, and those who ally atheists in their fight against religion.
You see many of them becoming allies of those who disbelieved. How wretched is that which they have put forth for themselves in that Allah has become angry with them, and in the punishment they will abide eternally.
Punishment of hell upon doing so.
Qur'an (3:28) - "Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah.
The word "rather" explains the whole thing here, better to have an ally which is alike, than an ally who differs from you, this even applies to opening a partnership company with a friend, you have to have somebody who agrees with you most of the time or you're going to run into conflicts? Not true? Thank you next.
Loophole, you can act nice to Jews and Christians but only if you are faking it. You must never show them kindness on the inside.
Dude, now you're saying that every muslim hates every christian and jew on the planet. In our book the book that we muslims follow, it says that they are our brothers. Why would I hate a brother? Stop taking verses out of your pockets please, we are discussing with facts here.
But maybe that's in the translation. Maybe in Arabic this should translate into "everyone is best friends forever." Even though even scholars:
Renowned scholar Ibn Kathir states that "believers are allowed to show friendship outwardly, but never inwardly."
In islam, you can decide which Imam and scholars you want to listen to, I personally would never listen to this brutal scholar.
Page one also has a reference to how zionists (let's just call them what you mean, the jews) are responsible for unleashing the black arts on the world.
Now you're putting words in my mouth, jews are not zionists because they can't be both, even jews protest against zionists, I will have to report you for offensive and abusive behavior. Also this is a thread about Muslims starcraft players, it's not a political thread.
Anyway, let's not pretend any of the 3 abrahamic religions is saying that the other 2 are just as cool. It's one out of 3, if you get it wrong, you burn in hell.

My question to you is, what kind of messed view do you have of muslims? Dude islam is about love, read about it. I'm discussing like a mature man here, and I expect everybody to do the same. "Why is there a need for people to incorporate themselves with an idea like religion, sex preference or race?
It's pathetic. Who gives a fuck if you're a muslim, gay or black?"
That's the right spirit, it's true we don't need to generalise people at all, every man and woman is the same. Yet I was wondering if there are more people like me, who are a big fan of starcraft 2 and follow islam at the same time.
----------I'm already being BM'ed subliminally in this thread, please this thread is about finding people like me and asking simple questions, but you're jumping on me like vultures trying to tear out my beliefs and find contradictions.--------------
Please refrain from discussing my religion or other religions at all, you can read the thread title. Please don't post offtopic, I don't have the energy to day in and day out make right for my religion just because many people have on the edge of dangerous opinions about it. I didn't come to teamliquid to discuss religion, I do that on other sites. Now that's been said, even though Islam is the worlds second biggest religion I was kind of expecting more replies .

Muslims care if you are gay. In Iran they really care about knowing whether you are gay or not. Helps them decide in picking out the rope they are going to use.
Which is a little un-islamic because if they are really religious they would throw them off a cliff or rooftops.
I just think it's disturbing that the person to open the muslim thread is a guy that believes:

I don't think I have a "messed" view of Islam, I'm just very ignorant about it. I'll admit I don't know a lot and I haven't read the Koran (yet). It was still a geniune question, it's a verse from the Koran and since it's the perfect word of god or the inspired word of god I'd like to know how you deal with it. DW about me, I am reading up on the subject but it's a lot of work and haven't gotten very far yet

The main problem with Islam is that the Qur'an was written in a language no one really understands. Then the Hadith was written 200 years after the death of the prophet and no one can verify if those sources are accurate. Why would we need more written word to worship than the word of god himself? Did he really miss that much out of the Qur'an. The Hadith is Shirq. It's an example of people using religion to control people, mainly poor people at the time.

I went to highschool in Botkyrka(subburb in Stockholm, 99,99% imigrant population) for about six months due to a special sports program that existed there, i was the only ethnically swedish person in a school of about 300 students, and the second "white" person, a polish guy was one year above me and he was the first.
And yes this feeling of "not belonging" is very strong and potent, my classmates didnt care but people from other classes often called me "Jävla svenne" etc(fucking cracker roughly translated) and i eventually left the school mostly due to the traveling distance but i would be lying if i said the minority thing didnt affect it aswell.
American History X term comes to mind when the main character is in prison: "In here, you the nigger". Anyway no real purpose to my post, just wanted to say i've felt the same feeling and it is not pleassant, event if people treat you well you still feel like you don't belong.

Iran doesn't follow Sharia laws, you can check out a documentary about how policemen rape women and how the citizens of Iran are being tortured, this is not Islam, this is torture and inhumane.
The situation that you refer to is actually very religiously inspired.
You see, the revolutionairy guard is hardcore religious, so they are not allowed to kill virgins. So when they have a women that needs to be executed, but is a virgin, they need to create a loophole.
So they force her to marry her captors, after which her "husband" rapes her. After the rape, she isn't a virgin anymore, and they can kill her.
I don't see how Iran doesn't follow sharia law. They say they do and they don't seem to violate it on any mentionable scale.
Torture and inhumane treatment are not seperate of religion. Afterall, when i die (me being an atheist) do I not get sent to hell where I will be tortured and treated inhumanely?
I never said we should kill all believers, what guy have you been arguing with? Not me, because I haven't said these kind of things.

It's like me going and killing innocent in the name of Idra, and then Idra getting blamed for everything.
You don't seem to be very familiar with sub-branches of islam.
One of the main ideas in Qutbism (what Osama and his ilk believe) is that only muslims that truly follow the Quran are true muslims.
Thus, shia muslims and non-believers are all the same and not innocent and open target for murder.
Even Sunni muslims that believe can be called unbelievers by them if they don't follow the quran as hardline as they want them to follow it (which is to the letter).
So they aren't killing innocents in their sub-branch of islam.
It's like me going and killing innocent in the name of Idra, and then Idra getting blamed for everything.
That only holds to be true if Idra explicitly said that you should kill everyone who does not believe that Idra is the best SC-player in the world.
That's so easy to say, care to prove it? Where is something like that mentioned in Quran and please don't bother googling and copy pasting verses which doesn't even exist or are out of context...
It's like me going and killing innocent in the name of Idra, and then Idra getting blamed for everything.
That only holds to be true if Idra explicitly said that you should kill everyone who does not believe that Idra is the best SC-player in the world.
The Quran doesn't say that you should kill people who don't believe in the quran, have you even read the quran? You're just pulling verses out of your pockets right? I already told you, killing innocents is against the religion, and you know what is also haram? Pride, when you think of yourself higher than other people.
YAY, let's go and break laws, and then when we get arrested lets blame it on the laws yaaaaay!
"I think (and hope) that most muslims wouldn't consider that representative of their religion."
That's my personal beliefs, sorry if I don't willingly eat the information that the government feeds me and think I am free.
"The situation that you refer to is actually very religiously inspired.
Afterall, when i die (me being an atheist) do I not get sent to hell where I will be tortured and treated inhumanely?"
That's what my religion says, if you want to avoid this and you believe in it, simply become a muslim.
After reading the quran for at least 2 days, you'd see that Iran isn't following sharia laws. That they say they do is completly different. I can say I am black but that doesn't make me black does it?
"I think any topic which celebrates the prophets birthday should not be surprised with religious discussion.
Look at the gay thread. People dicuss what it's like to be gay. Why can't we discuss what it's like to be muslim in the muslim thread?" You're absolutely not discussing what it's like to be a muslim or discussing even in a polite manner, for some reason I feel attacked and insulted. Can't we discuss this politely? I don't know what you're trying to achieve
Plus is it so hard to grasp the purpose of the thread? Why switch it to religious debate when it is not meant to be...you're always free to create your own new thread and take the bs there.

How many days do you think Khomeinie read the quran?
More or less then 2 days?
What makes you a better authority then him? Isn't that like me having read about quantumphysics for 2 days and then telling a PHD proffesor with 60 years of experience in the field that he is wrong.
The difference ofcourse being that religion is a tad more subjective then quantumphysics.
I am a christian but I have always been curious of the Muslim religion I have one friend who is Muslim and there is one rule in his house. When you go up stairs there IS NO CUSSING because there is some type of scrolls up there.. I remember I got in a lot of trouble with his mother one time. I have questions about the Muslim religion that I may ask from time to time later. I hope this is ok. I have complete respect for Muslims and almost any religion I am not just a hateful christian or hateful American just so you know :D To be honest I really think all paths to god are right, and thats very hypocritical of Christianity , but thats more of a personal belief.
Also I used to say this to my Black Muslim friends back in high school asalamaleka. Now is that for all Muslims? Or just the African Muslim? Because I know there is a differents in some things between African Muslims and Middle Eastern Muslim well I think there is maybe someone can clarify.

Well Khomeine hits himself, you're not allowed to damage your body in Islam, because it's not your body, it is borrowed from god.

Greetings to you, what a gentleman you are. I understand why you're curious, feel free to ask about what you want. I have complete respect for christianity aswell. We worship the same deity, you're my brother. I think God likes you if you perform well in life, and have morals.
I have a question i actually honestly wonder about: This whole "peace be upon him" muslims have alot of phrases like this and also "inch allah"(lol spelling, if god wants it so or something) which they repeat alot. What is the purpose of these? just to show your respect to allah or mohammed when you mention them? And i get saying it when you speak, that kinda flows naturally, but to specificlly write it seems kinda odd?

So is that a yes?
Do you consider your 2 days of quran study to have made you a better authority on the quran then Khomeini? Someone who has most likely read the quran every day since the day he could read.

Well it's kind of to show respect, we do the same with all our prophets Jesus included. That's because we have respect for these people and we show it verbally, because they're not alive and we can't show it physically. I personally write it aswell and I know many people who do the same.
"Do you consider your 2 days of quran study to have made you a better authority on the quran then Khomeini? Someone who has most likely been reading the quran every day since the day he could read."
The 2 days were an example not a statement of me reading the quran for 2 days, reading the quran everyday of your life and 500 additional years don't matter if you don't follow it, and I even think it is even more haram because he knews how haram it is and still he does it. Khomeini is in no way a representative for the religion and neither am I. Only Muhammed (SAW) is, and you can read about him and his stories in the quran.

Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"
Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

Sure 4, Vers 76: Diejenigen, die gläubig sind, kämpfen um Gottes willen, diejenigen, die ungläubig sind, um der Götzen willen. Kämpft nun gegen die Freunde des Satans! Die List des Satans ist schwach.
Sure 4, Verse 76: Those, who believe, fight for Allah. Those who don't believe, fight for Satan. Now, fight against the followers of Satan! But Satan's cunning is weak.
I just beat you with your own argumentation. Because what I read in the Quran is what you will read aswell. I'm no believer, an atheist, thus I'm officially a friend of Satan and thus have to be killed. Now, if you say, fighting does not mean 'kill', than I have to disappoint you and quote Sure 4, Verse 89: 'When those who don't hear your call to conversion, turn their back to you, attack and kill them, wherever you may find them!'
As you see, my argumentation is the correct one.
e: also I think it was obvious that this would become a religious debate. Anyone who has been on the internet for more than 20 minutes will now that the topic of religion is always going to cast a religious discussion.

want me to go on quoting?
8:12 is really like this "[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.""
This is out of context so I can't tell if it's hinting at a war between disbelievers and believers, and that god is going to stand beside the believers so no need to fear or not.
3:56 is really like this "And as for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.""
This is explainable, you deny god, he is going to deny you in the life hereafter where you are going to get proof of his existance. Everybody can believe when they have seen, but Islam emphasizes that belief without seeing is hard for humans therefore they are loved by god.
You can quote how much you want bro. If you want since we live in the same country we can go out over a coffee and talk about religion. I'm in Göteborg

As you see in my quote, I didn't say Allah I said Quran, don't be so speedy to try and break my argument. Now your quote is forever living here where you you missread my first reply. Well you can be a friend of satan how much you want, whatever floats your boat. I let god run his course.
Please don't alter verses from the quran it's one of the biggest sins, the verse really goes like this
4:89 They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.
If they turn away from the path of god, then seize them and kill them. This was usual with all religions back in this time. If you're an atheist and you're trying to convert me, back in those days we would have to war.
On February 04 2012 23:06 shaft_dat wrote: I used to be Muslim, does that count?
1- No 2- No 3- Yes
The main problem with Islam is that the Qur'an was written in a language no one really understands. Then the Hadith was written 200 years after the death of the prophet and no one can verify if those sources are accurate. Why would we need more written word to worship than the word of god himself? Did he really miss that much out of the Qur'an. The Hadith is Shirq. It's an example of people using religion to control people, mainly poor people at the time.
Of course it counts if you use to be a muslim, I don't know if what you said about the hadith's is true.
However, I hope you don't have a problem with me asking, why did you leave the religion?
Hadith is written by the decendents of the followers of the prophet after his death. They're like a memoir of what he did and said. So much of what Sunni Muslims believe comes from this.
The reason I left Islam is because I stopped believe in God. I see it like how you grow up and stop believing in Santa. God is what you tell your kids so they behave well, and it started by rich leaders of nations wanting to control the poor. For example quotes like "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven". That's either from the Qur'an or the Bible, I don't remember.
Also if you read the Old Testement, that shit is fucked up and violent as hell. They needed the New Testement to keep up with the times. And you say the Qur'an has never been altered, which is true, but people (muslims and non-muslims and terrorists etc.) have translated it to suit their own needs which is just as bad.
I'm a Mathematician, so I think logically and can take a step back and assess an argument impartially. This is jut the conclusion that I came to. But I understand if your religion makes you happy. Just keep in mind that it's human nature to want to believe in a higher being, as it aides in survival back when we were cavemen/ tribal folk. There have been literally 1000s of Gods created over time, eg ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, tribal worshipping of the sun the moon, mountains, all before Islam - then all of us sudden one guy comes along with a book and everyone acts like nothing ever happened before that.
I have a question not necessarily focused on Islam but you rather. I see you are from Sweden, so are you a Swedish Muslim (probably not the right term) or someone who has lived most of their life in Sweden but from a different country? I am just curious Also, what is Islam's view (if you are not sure how to answer, then, what is YOUR view) on agnosticism? Since I am agnostic, I would like to know.

I don't think I could reason with you, sorry. I don't even want to get into an argument on TL, because I detest religion and all that it stands for, which tends to lead to heated arguments.

I live in sweden and yes you might say I'm a swedish muslim, I was born here but I've been in my maternal country (Iraq) twice.
I don't know the view about agnosticism, but if the higher power that you believe in is God, which is the same god of judaism christianity and islam. Then you believe in God. Then you're not a disbeliever.

Why do you lead heated arguments? We can discuss like civil men. I don't like insult rich discussions either, who does? But alright I can see your opinions and beliefs.
That's what I meant when I talked about people quoting out of context. Wow you can google stuff, how fucking smart you are Scalepad I wonder how you missed out the preceding words. I wish people actually gave it a thought before writing ignorant comments.
Ayat 109:6, "To you be your Faith, and to me mine." We don't even have to bother arguing with haters it's just out of the love of our religion. Islam gives a direction and a basic purpose in life. One can choose to ignore that and live a complete materialistic life untill he hits his grave. God blessed you with life, one rejects him and then wishes to expect God to welcome him with open arms?
The main annoyance I have with the muslim community is that they don't take much responsibility for the "bad eggs" that are among them. I've engaged many muslims about this and almost always I get the same answer: "These people are not true muslims", and in their eyes that ends the conversation. I do not agree with this approach. You have to acknowledge the good and the bad about your community and actively and openly rally against it or it will grow.
I usually compare it to football (soccer) team-fans and hooligans. Although the hooligans are usually only a minor part of the fan-base they have to be acknowledge, by the team, as a problem. Teams spend a lot of money and resources to actively address the problems their hooligan fan-base is causing. They have learned, especially during the 80's that ignoring this part of their fan-base empowers them and made them prosper/grow.
I acknowledge that this is not purely a muslim problem.

Refrain from starting flamewars unnecessarily.
What a lovely verse from the Quran, but people won't show these verses because they show the good side of Islam, and people want everybody to think of Islam as evil and bad.
Agreed refrain from starting flame wars, or even flaming in the first instance. This thread is not about discussing Islam in the first place, it's about finding muslim starcraft 2 players. Why aren't moderators regulating this thread like the gay starcraft thread? They're very similar, to find a minority in the community. If any moderator is reading this, can you please regulate people from going off topic? I didn't start a thread called "Islam" with a reply saying, discuss everything you want about islam, this tends to me having to defend myself and my religion, and I have to reply to 5 different people arguing with me at once, when the thread wasn't even started to argue.
Rustug there is nothing to discuss, these people are not muslims period.

That's the main problem that I have with religion. All they do might be good for themselves, but they never take the responsibility for what they do to others. Christians molesting children, Muslims killing innocent people, or some Inkas that sacrificed children. Nobody ever says something like 'Sorry, my religious brothers and sisters are wrong' no! You can deny all you want, the root for all that misery is and will always be religion. Not because religion is necessarily bad, but it causes people to do bad things.

The bad people who claim they are muslims are in fact not muslims. Why should our religious community take responsbility for people who don't even follow Gods bidding.
Do you think women are treated unjustly in Islamic countries? and do you think maybe the way women are described in the Quran has anything to do with this?

Yes they are muslims, they interpret that what is in the Koran different than you and that's what makes them just as right in their beliefs as you are. In the Koran there is in fact written to kill non believers. YOU think that is means with kind words or something; But THEY think it's just as it is written there. They are just as muslim as you are. They do what they believe in, and the root is the Koran. You can't just say they are not muslim, because if they believe they are muslim, and act upon what they read in the Koran, they are indeed muslims. And that's why you, as a fellow muslim, HAVE to take responsibilty.

I'd like to take a quote to prove how valuable our women are too us.
Eve was created from a rib taken from the side of Adam, signifying that she was not to control him as the head, nor to be trampled under his feet as an inferior, but to stand by his side as an equal, to be loved and protected by him.
The word woman and the word man are both in the Quran 25 times each, for equality. Some women are treated unjustly, this goes on in the whole world. Including Sweden a very modern european country, which gives men more pay for the same work if for say a woman worked there. What do you mean with "The way women are described in the Quran"?

There's no way to missinterpret "Killing innocents is haram" or "God dislikes attackers"
Therefore they're not muslims, you're wrong period.
"Also don't both sides say each other are not really Muslim? just wondering?"
Why would a guy who claims he is muslim (But is really not) that preaches to kill innocents and stuff, claim that a muslim who is following morals AND the Quran, where he has etiquette which is written in the quran, and wouldn't hurt a fly or break a twig because you're hurting life forms, is not a muslim? What retard kuffars (Disbeliever) have you been speaking with? Trying to change the quran and stuff.

The OP stated Muslims saw Jesus as a prophet. Does this mean you worship him as such??
My Humanities professor as well as my World Religions course were very clear the Muslims recognized Jesus existed but he was not the prophet. I'm pretty sure one of them even quoted out of the Qur'an where it states Mohammed is the one and only prophet. Can the lectures I recieved be that off from what Muslims actually beileve?

To my knowledge they all use the same book (old testament/torah) also. They just have different interpretations. This leads them not to like each other. I have heard Hasidic Jews say that Reform are not "real Jews" ect.

i only read abit of this thread but if i read quotes of the Quran ( if theyre true ) that state you cannot friend up with Christs or Jews i just feel im back into stoneage. Read the posts I did, a guy came in baring the same discussion you're bringing, I refuted his argument, I don't want to say the same thing twice.
What do you think of muslims trying to affect the laws of the non-muslim country they live in? Examples of this would be to limit the free speech to stop people from openly insult Mohammed despite its being accepted to insult deities ? Or removing animal cruelty laws to allow the production of halal meat? Since these movements exists I think its natural for ordinary people to not like muslims.
You were right earlier when you said that it doesnt matter if a person is black, white or what or w/e. It does however matter if hes a muslim or not since its going to impair his ability to think freely to some extent since he can only work within the pre-constructed framework of the koran. Therefore Islam is a threat to an open society. What do you think about this statement ?

Worship was a bad word choice, should of went with recognize him as such, in religious teachings. Also, as you've stated again Jesus is a prophet, why not recognize him so, as you would with Muhammed. Is it solely because Muhammed is more recent? This is what I can infer from the preceding quote attached.
BTW thank you for the thread and your time in answering our questions.

I think it is wrong, because it's not their original country. Islam condones free speech to a certain extent and so do every country, you're allowed to say what you want as long as it doesn't insult anybody. If you actually read about halal slaughter you'd know that halal slaughtering provides less pain for the animal because you're cutting off the pain receptor to the brain first, it's basic anatomy. I can see things out of other peoples perspectives if that's what you mean, do you think muslims are brainwashed robots who just follow the quran?

Not gonna judge you all but where I live, muslims seem to be much more nasty and hateful towards non-muslims than non-muslims are towards them.

There might not be a way to misinterpret those statements. However there are many ways to misrepresent innocents as people who are in some way not innocent and are guilty of something and there are many ways to make attackers appear as defenders - thus justifying murder and violence from a religious standpoint.
Words are fickle. People will read them as they choose, one way or the other.
Sad to see the way this thread is going. It would have been better if you had kept this thread about Muslim SC2 players and invited any debate about Islam and Muslims as PMs to yourself.
Anyway I'm a Muslim originally from Pakistan currently living in Saudi Arabia. Platinum league (approximately since my 1v1 account has been smurfed to Master League Hell) by my almost GM cousin.
1. Yes and I try to keep up with the other 5 a day too but haven't quite gotten there yet. 2. No since I have never really lived in a non Muslim majority country. 3. Yes.
I would still implore you to take the questions about Islam/Muslims, interpretations of the Quran into private messages since keeping them in the thread will only result in a flamestorm.

*Protected by him
Like a father protecting his daughter from lustfull eyes by forcing a burqa or niqab on her.
The word woman and the word man are both in the Quran 25 times each, for equality. Some women are treated unjustly, this goes on in the whole world. Including Sweden a very modern european country, which gives men more pay for the same work if for say a woman worked there. What do you mean with "The way women are described in the Quran"?
You make light of the suffering of women in islamic countries. You would compare a country like Pakistan to Sweden?
In Sweden they earn slightly less and this gap is closing very fast.
In Pakistan research shows that as many as 90% of husbands beat their wife.
In America, women earn slightly less, again, the gap is closing. In Saudi-Arabia they must cover themselves and are not allowed to drive.
I thought you said islam was about love and unity. You don't show much love or unity for your sisters in islam when you make light of their plight and compare their situation to that of Swedish women.
There's no way to missinterpret "Killing innocents is haram" or "God dislikes attackers"
Therefore they're not muslims, you're wrong period.
The Qutbism followers do it without breaking a sweat. Because what means innocent?
People who preach against god are not innocent. Atheists and different faiths. People who twist the words of god are devil worshippers. All Shia muslims. People who call themselves muslims but are not a 100% dedicated to their faith are working against god. All muslims that are not on their side.
Islam is not as clearcut as you like to make it out. There are many different streams of islam. At the head of each of those branches are people that spend their entire lives learning about islam. Some of them can recite the book entirely out of memory.
But in comes you. You supposedly know better then people that can recite the quran from memory, cover to cover.
Because those muslims think exactly what you think.
Why would this person preach that he is a muslims when he clearly doesn't understand the texts.
The difference being that most of these fanatics have spend a lot more time with these scriptures which makes their views carry more weight then yours.
I'd like to ask something else. I watched an interview with Fadel Suliman who asserted that Allah is the same god as the god of the jews and christians but that the koran is the one true book since there as flaws and inaccuracies in the Koran. (Would you agree to this?) He also said we should look at the New Testament to be an upgrade (I think he compared it to windows vista coming out after windows xp) of the Torah and the Koran to again be an upgrade of that (Would you agree to this?). Assuming you (and other Muslims) would hold this same vision, why aren't you all Mormons?

Oh hey a moderator, thank god I've been looking for one, can you please regulate the thread a little like the Gay starcraft thread, because there's a few trolls and some people who throw insults in here and go off topic.
To your question. I believe simply in the Quran, the prophets, god and the hadiths. Religion isn't something you upgrade, god wouldn't need to upgrade his word that's why the quran is unchanged. God would've made XP so good you wouldn't need Vista. Christians jews and muslims have the same god yes but there are some differences in basic beliefs between the 3.
"Like a father protecting his daughter from lustfull eyes by forcing a burqa or niqab on her."
These people don't even give 2 shits about what I write, you're in such a hurry to get out your own opinions. You're not allowed to force somebody to wear a hijab, and none of the prophets (SAW) wives wore a Burqa or Niqab, so I feel that is unnecessary, but it could be safe, if a woman is so beautiful (Talking Jessica Alba beautiful) that she is in danger of being raped, she can wear the Niqab or Burqa to hide her beauty, but she has to want it herself same with hijab, it is haram to force one upon females.
"In Pakistan research shows that as many as 90% of husbands beat their wife." A muslim is not allowed to beat his wife, he is only allowed to tap a sewak (A kind of wooden small toothbrush) on her cheek to show her his disapproval of her actions IF she did something wrong, now I'm talking about a tap that doesn't hurt, just to show like "See what you made me do" yet the prophet (SAW) didn't hit any of his wives.
"In Saudi-Arabia they must cover themselves and are not allowed to drive." Yeah cars existed 1400 years ago when the Quran came out and it clearly says in the Quran don't let women drive cars and then on then next page is a blueprint for a car.

One can best take Jesus as an example to explain the views.
Jesus, according to christianity, is the son of god.
In Islam he is just another prophet.
Islam does not discredit Jesus but it doesn't hold him in quite the same esteem as christians do.
That more or less sums up their view on the previous religions of which Islam is the latest copy. They don't deny that it's true, they simply deny that those books are the final verdict on the story of god. They believe the story came to it's conclusion with Muhammed.
Some substreams of Islam believe that there will be another imam who will usher in a new muslim caliphate. The last and final caliphate that will stretch across the globe. Twelver shia islam.
But in terms of prophets it was Muhammed that changed god's laws for the last time. And only prophets can change god's laws.
i not understand how you can be bmed in sc2 by religion, do you tell your enemy your religion or anything ? for me i think sc2 should be ahead of religion, race etc and just be fun. shouldnt be used for political/religional things
please no pro/anti islam debat here, it would hurt and only get everyone banned

I do not think all muslims are brainwashed robots. In fact I have several good friends that are muslims and they are great thinkers. The problem is that some people will follow blindly and even if it doesnt it will still build their sense of right and wrong. A sense of right and wrong that might not always be up to date with our current society. I agree with you completly on the first part. I have no problems with muslims in general but there are lots of cases where muslim communities do not interact with their surroundings in a healthy way and therefore makes it almost impossible them a part of their new country. Christianity has the same fundamental problems and Id imagine that their belivers would be terrible to deal with in the middle east for example. The problem with muslims in the west, as I see it, is that they have their set of belives and ideas thats different from the surrounding. That makes for clashes. The religion makes it impossible for them to change their standpoint and the tensions just keep on building. People talk of a multi cultural society but I think there has to be some sort of common ground for a society to work to its full potential.Thats why I think religon enhance a lot of problems. If we had no religion I truly belive we would have less conflicts in the world.

Stop trying to pretend like you are some poor victim and everyone is out to get you.
This victim mentality is ridiculous. Think about this. Maybe people are disagreeing with the content of your character, rather then the color of your skin.
Maybe people have a problem with a book that has plenty of questionable content. Pointing out these flaws is not a hate-crime.

I'm Sad to see that there isn't any real discussion possible in an open forum. I'm not answering any more questions, some people have shit all over my thread, if I were to discuss any further I would have to do it like gentlemen with people of equal intelligence and respect.
People on the internet care too much about bashing religion wherever they can.
Any thread having to do with religion in the slightest will derail inevitably.
I noticed this the hard way today, some people have trouble understanding that we are all humans, we are all the same animal. Some people just have some issues I presume, taking out their anger on the internet.
I read this thread now and my first thought was like: why do you have to make a own thread only for muslims?
If you really believe we are all humans and equal than this thread shouldnt exist imho. also you wrote like: if u want to learn something about islam just ask ... people caught u offguard there and u flamed back coz u didnt know how to respond.
also you wrote something like u want to find muslims who are playing starcraft aswell in order to play with them. This is the Internet. The good thing about it is nobody cares if u are black, white, chinese, muslim, jew, gay or whatever - nobody cares. and than u come and ask for other muslims to border yourselfs out and are curious why this thread ends in such a slaughter.
If u really think that all people are equal and shouldnt be treated as races then u shouldnt post in this thread. Thats my opinion

No comment, if I'm being flamed like this without people knowing anything about me, what if they knew about me? I thought you citizens of TL were mature enough to have a thread about a certain religion on your site but apparently it's a witch-hunt for muslims. You can read every single post I have made in this thread, not once did I flame, but I was flamed if that's what you mean. Yes people were asking questions with good attitudes and I was answering them, but when people come in pre emptively deciding to insult me and to refute my religion. That's when I stop.
Also no need to lie to ourselves and say that everybody is equal on the internet, we all know what kind of enormous racism goes on on the internet simply because the fact that it is not regulated.
Happy birthday Prophet Muhammad (SAW) for the third time I will not accept any questions.

So...
Just people that:
1) Agree with you right off the bat. 2) Ask you a question that you then proceed to answer in a fashion that most islamic scholars would call lacking.
Now this is silly, you open the thread and suddenly say you won't answer any more questions... If you are willing to portray the true face of Islam than do it in a nice way. Being a crybaby now will deteriorate the image haters have of Islam, and you want to improve it, no?

Well pretty much everyone have a opinion about islam, being a world religion and all. There's often a general negative attitude towards it, as lately it's been synonymous in media with suicide bombers, terrorists, female genital mutilation, honor killings, medieval view of women etc etc. There's an abundance of evil actions in the name of Islam, so of course there's going to be a counter reaction.
I don't think you should take that personally. I don't think anyone is flaming you, but some are asking for your opinions about these things.

You've opened-up a thread as a muslim representative on an open forum which is properly moderated. You have been engaged by well-minded people who want to know your views on muslim related matters. Now you feel attacked because you don't like the discussion.
You want to see a threat that has flame, try reading the discussion about girl pro-gamers and then come back here and tell me again you are being treated unfairly.
TL mods would have stepped in if you were attacked/flamed.
There are too many haters of Islam, I don't even care anymore to try and change their opinions, but it kind of helps that Islam is the worlds most growing religion in the world.
