I seen this topic posted on a few forums. I am Interested in hearing what people on this forum have to say about the subject. As i feel The people here are more skillfull and have a better understanding of the game here. To Me at The Newb to decent Skill lvl TvZ Seems Rather Unblanced to me as it take alot more skill to use Lurker then it takes to use M&Ms. At the pro lvl i think its a bit more balanced as guys like YellOw and H.O.T make it look rather Ez. The only other slight Unblance i see is at the pro lvl in PvZ But its seems very slight to me if at all. All in all i feel Bw is Very balanced But i think its interesting to see what people like Naz will have to say about it.

I believe the races are perfectly balanced, except Zerg has a slight edge over Protoss which can be ignored when the Protoss plays flawless.

The rest of the matchups I believe are balanced perfectly, the only thing that effects them are the maps. The maps are what make Starcraft the way it is.

How about reposting menrea's Nazgul interview over here? Nazgul discusses his view of balance in there. FWIR he felt that maps are more significant than anything else in determining race inbalance. It's a few weeks back on www.broodwar.com.

As to my view, I think Terran is easiest to play at lower beginner levels. Mainly cuz Terran's use less expos... less to worry about, and less micro (mostly troop placement and slow push). For other races I have trouble controlling multiple battle groups, and setting up and powering a ton of expos. Yes, I am a newb.

Personally, I think Terran is the hardest to play because all of the units have relatively low life and you need to micro a lot to make use of all the Terran units, i.e. Siege Tank placement, mine placement, microing speed vults to suicide mine, microing speed vults to hit and run vs zealots etc. Granted other races uses micro too, but for Terran it is essential. But at the highest lvls of the game I feel that the game is pretty much balanced because the players are good enough to exploit racial weaknesses.

Although, I like Terran because all the units are ranged, even Medics and Firebats! Ironically though, the SCV has no range, while the other peons have a range of 2.

very close to balanced.
most of the "imbalances" are map-based.

on a rampless pretty flat medium sized map sc is super fun to play.

Hardest to play doesn't mean not balanced or anything. I'm kinda sure that at some level, protoss might be "the hardest". It's mostly of skill and map

I think the races are basicly balanced but I think some of the units could use a bit of tweaking as they are inefficient to use. The maps have the biggest effect I think but there are a few minor adjustments in unit cost/mana costs etc that could improve the game. I don't think terran is the hardest race to play myself as all races have micro but terran has less micro in combat as once tanks and mines are placed then they are placed ie. no need to micro them any more. Sure terran build requires a bit more micro but I think the lack of combat micro more than makes up for it.

ps. SCV's have more hit points than other peons which prob explains the lack of range

Have you ever though the scv is the only units on which all those spells work: Lockdown, irridiate, broodling.

well thats the price it pay's for that extra 10 hp.

The thing that irks me most are without doubt tanks and storm compared to broodling. its a freaking shame.

20 hp!!!! :p I think P is slightly weaker than Z because P HAS to play near flawless in order to beat gosu Z (you cant lose a battle basically). If they dont then Z gains map control/expos like crazy and then overruns P. (this is of course a general statement, and exceptions will always apply)But really, imbalance is only a factor at the highest levels of play.

my opinion:
-terran is the hardest race to play- just way more micro and mistakes are almost always fatal
but i think the general idea is that balanced are way, i mean way more important that if the races themselves are actually balanced
and on that note i think terran have got it bad in this years wcg maps
zerg i think have got it good

I think that Terran is the best race, and also hardest to control.
Protoss, i dont know why they isnt the best race: Psi Storm, Corsairs, "Build and then move on", The absolutly most hp... So, why cant Protoss Eat zerg?
Zerg, requires a freakin drone to build a building. Low life units.

Whats the problem?
