While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

Also later on they revoke his seed and slander him publicly.
Yes the Naniwa defenders are certainly the ones that are butt hurt....
GOM has shown us how immature and childish they are and I for one is gonna vote with my wallets, no more tickets for me
Why is nearly everyone from Sweden defending him? Blind nationalism eh?
Why is everyone from Korea hating on him? Yeah.
which is why he wants to remain in korea amirite? he must love all the hate he's getting there.
Good comeback. Really. He is in Korea because he wants to compete with the best. Compete being the operative word here.
funny how he mentioned in a interview he also wanted to get a korean girl friend. you must be mad.
What is it with you and the completely random retorts? He likes the look of asian girls. So does half of TL if you look at the beautiful women thread and/or the wallpaper thread. He would not be in Korea if it was not for the level of the competition.

Droping mules or building CC on your defeated enemy base is not? For me that is the middle finger equivalent in videogames.
Double standards everywhere...
Holy crap didn't even think about this...wow does this makes GOM look like hypocrites. I'm officially done with GSL...still.
But were those games actually played out?
This is the main thing, this wasn't a form of BM that was meant to insult the opponent in the way dropping mules is. This is BM in the way that insults the tournament and insults the viewers.
If you play for any team or any sport, you are expected to give your all no matter what your standing is, no matter how far down or far up you are. When it becomes blatantly obvious that you're not playing to win (and reaffirm that post-match), then you are not living to the professionalism that is supposed to be integral in any competition.
You must not really watch sports then...the Indianapolis Colts certainly aren't giving their all. The Chicago Cubs at the end of every year don't even play their stars.
Warning would of been enough. Who really gives a crap if he worker rushed in a meaningless game. I didn't even bother to watch that game because there was no stakes at all.

well, when the next gsl is on air i will not tune in... simple as that
i won't watch some hypocrites with double standards. GOM now looks a little bit more kespa...
What double standard? Care to explain?
people don't know what the word hypocrite or the phrase double standard actually mean
evidenced by plenty of posts in this thread.
I don't see any double standards at all. You can't point out the double standard either.
Coca wasn't punished by gom, whereas nani was.
Coca wasn't punished by Gom because Slayers were savvy enough to act immediately to pull him from the tournament. They can't punish someone who isn't in the tournament so what do you expect?
Yes they can but they decided to leave it to the team to decide on the punishment the same should have applied to this situation.
On December 14 2011 20:12 Talic_Zealot wrote: It seems to come down to every person's idea of respect and how important it is. The punishment may be harsh, but I am disgusted by how many people don't seem to have 'respect' as a part of their ideology.
Like this has anything to do with respect. This has everything to do with the retarded tournament format forcing player to play unneeded games. Most people would have done the same thing or some terrible allin playing with 1 hand. I don't see the difference.
Wait so Naniwa's blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism had nothing to do with it? Unneeded games are still entertaining and part of the tournament's structure. And no most people would have not done what Naniwa did.

He drone rushed Nestea in a meaningless game, gg's. For that he gets kicked out of GSL because:
Warning or disqualification - 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때 - During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours
This "abusive" behaviour was apparently SO HORRIBLE compared to all the BM we've seen in the GSL so far. T_T
Wrong rule. There is a rule where if a player is determined to be unfit of being a progamer they can deny them participation.
Being in Code S is a privelage, not a right. It can be taken away if you do something stupid like that to GOM.
Oh shit there is an even more obscure rule? :O I would say bring on Kespa but I guess they are already here. "Only players liked by Koreans allowed to play in GSL"
I know its such a bull Shit Rule....
"GomTV can deny your participation if you are found unfit to be a gamer."
Wtf kind-of rule is this? Could it be more ambiguous
On December 14 2011 20:08 Nosferatos wrote: lol, talk about trying to find some obscure exuse to kick him out, gsl fucked up big time. Joke tournament that'll never get a cent of my cash!
hahaha
now breaking a rule is an obscure reason
A completely obscure rule that could be applied to almost anyone in code s at one point in the gsl games?
The only thing Naniwa can argue is that the game was meaningless from his point of view (no money to gain/ no opportunity to advance), so he decided to throw the game (Yes, worker rushing has a zero percent chance of working on a competent opponent. No amount of micro can beat a professional player who has more workers than you. Trust me on this one.)
But the game was not meaningless from other people's points of view. There were many fans who were looking forward to a Naniwa-Nestea rematch. Hell, the Quantic twitter was hyping up the match 5 minutes before it started. I think it's fair to say that some (not all) paying customers were disappointed by not seeing a legit game from Naniwa.
From a professional standpoint, Naniwa has to realize that there are important things outside of the game. One of which is being respectful in a foreign culture. Sure, in the US/Europe, people tend to not care about random walkovers/forfeits from players if they are tired or if they don't feel like playing the match. But in Korea, it is expected that a professional gamer will play out all of his matches simply in order to respect the game and his opponent.
At the end of the day, did Naniwa do something horrible, like match fixing? No. And could he have just 4-gated or proxy-2-gated and saved everyone a lot of trouble? Yes. But the real issue here is the lack of professionalism/cultural awareness on the part of Naniwa. He has to realize that when he is in Korea playing in a Korean tournament, he has to show respect and play the game out (even if his heart isn't fully in it). That's what separates a true professional from an amateur gamer.
Also, GOM is running the tournament, and that tournament is the best tournament in the world with the highest levels of competition, so I will still be supporting them.

In GSL they play for audience! Not for themselves. Do you think in normal JOB you can say to your boss that you have bad humor and dont wanna work? NO!
Naniwa, no matter what he think, should just sit in that booth and give fight with all his heart! To respect Korean audience, NesTea, GSL stuff, online audience etc.
This match wasnt meaningless, if not for Naniwa it has meaning for audience, probably for NesTea... This is not a playground for 3yo kinds, this is professional tournament, for professional players. His duty as a player was to give his best in that game!
This. So much this Naniwa needs to grow up. ESL, IEM, Complexity, This. Not to mention he didnt do good in code a, hed get shit on in code s, especially when he wants to probe rush and not try.
Yes it was. Do you really think that Naniwa and Nestea would have a good match after they both had tough 0-3 losses and nothing mattered anymore? They would never even play up to half of their ability so the matches would be boring and mean nothing. I do want to see Naniwa vs Nestea but then when there's actually something on the line, like a spot in the Ro6 or a spot in the finals like in the MLG global invitational.

I am from Sweden and I have learned from young age to respect other cultures even if I don't always agree with them. I guess thats what is being raised in a civilized western country. Maybe we are wrong and should be more like Korea, force every immigrant to behave just like us swedes or punish them in every single way we know of. Would that be fair?
Are you seriously retarded? Can all the swedish people here please stop ur retarded biased bullshit, u dont have anything to say so u spit out the most dumb shit u can think of. I'm from sweden aswell and this is just embarassing
Shitty move by GOM, not even admitting some fault. By the same rule, dozens of korean players should be punished for ceremonies in game or on the stage. Punishment far, far outstrips what occurred, and indicates clear bias. Had this been a liquid player (Jinro during group advancement anyone?), or Idra, or Huk, its hard to argue that the same would have occurred.
