It's about time. I think Sen is one of the most under-hyped/under-rated Zergs out there. He is incredibly good.

WHAT?!? Why are GSL suddenly handing out Code S invites left and right? Is this something that will happen every season ?

EDIT: Awesome for Sen, GL!

Sen is deserving and everything but does NOT deserve the spot. He hasnt won anything and doesnt participate in too much tournaments either. if this is true it feels like GOM just trying to appeal to foreigners while choosing players close to korea

Why not hold some mini tournament or just invite someone from blizzard cup, i really didn't think gom will go with the invite route... really disappointing

what the... another player drop out? i feel sorry for the koreans who struggle in code a every season, idra and sen don't deserve this. idra is understandable though, its a good business decision for gom, and they can justify it by saying he dropped his code s earlier this year. sen though?

This is bs and de-legitimizes getting a code s spot. If you don't have to play a match knowing your potential code s spot is on the line, you shouldn't get code s.

Ok...first of all congrats to Sen, he's a very good player and I believe he is capable of getting a spot even through the qualifiers. That being said however, just handing spots is incredibly unfair to everyone in Korea who has had to work really really hard and spend grueling months trying to go through a low prize pool qualifier to have a shot at code S.

I'm pretty sure in the new format Gom has 2 Code S spots to give away.

And according to that, NaNiwa got the first one due to MLG and an "unknown" Code S dropped which means IdrA got it, which means SEn has the 2nd spot.

Wow, this is bullshit. They are just randomly inviting people. It's OK to give foreigner spots to Code A or for Up&Downs but why would they give one for free for Code S. That's like spitting the MLG exchange system in the face where players have to earn that spot.

WTH is gom doing? Free code S spots? And i thought the up & downs spots were bad enough.
Idra used to be code S and then he left. I'm not comfortable with that but it's still ok. But sen is just not on code S level. He got dominated by hero, a code A player.

Idra I could understand, hes been there before, got to ro8, continually did better in Code S every season etc. But Sen? Idk I feel like theres more deserving others but I can't really think of anyone that immediately comes to mind sadly. Maybe Hero or Puma lol.

Everyone needs to read the new format before they go apeshit.

08 players stay in Code S.
12 players finish Code A Ro24 and go to Code S.
10 players in the Up&Down matches go to Code S.
02 players get invited to Code S.

Everyone assumed Naniwa was one of the Code S invites, and I think he was, so either this means he was dropped after yesterday's incident OR someone else dropped out and Naniwa, Sen and Idra will all be in Code S.

Stephano doesn't want to play in GSL. There's too much money and easier competition outside of Korea.

He may not be quite the greatest player ever, but he brings with him a big fanbase and more interest in SC2 in Taiwan and China, which makes for great business.

Because Sen and Idra are more popular than those Koreans.

So they get the spot while those players must kill each other to survive. If Sen/Idra fall out, I wouldn't be shocked if they're invited right back.

He's finished third in a lot of big tournaments, usually only losing to top koreans or the eventual winner. Plus, blame the day9 curse

this hits home >> FANBASE!

if they considered skills for bliz cup and stuff then yeah stephano and such. but here GOM just wants a popular name that brings in foreigners to cheer for a non korean...someone like whitera, dimaga, or sen.

ie if GOM took in TLO and put him in code S, he'd be outclassed like no other....yet he would have the world behind him and cheering for him

Do you know who win 3rd place in BlizzCon 2011 behind MVP and Nestea? How about who win NASL season 1 behind top 2 Koreans and who win NASL season 2 behind top 2 Koreans?

Please do some homework before you post.

With the punishment on Naniwa' by GSL and now his foreign spot is open, it's only natural to replace that spot with a decent foreign player.

I think both are kind of questionable.

Not "kind of". Extremely questionable. A qualification based tournament, but special exception is made based off popularity? Wtf GOM, this is more damaging to GSL than Naniwa's shenanigans, this harms the integrity of the entire event.

Sen will win 1000 GSLs now, as Sen means 1000 in Japanese.

GSL in Korea, Sen from Taiwan, translation from Japan? I approve!

Nice to see some more Zerg in Code S, as my favorite matchup is TvZ =), and Idra in Code S makes me feel nostalgia.

So, who's the second guy that dropped out and though what means did Sen get chosen for this second code S spot?

Edit: Coca?

Even though I feel the punishment for Naniwa was pretty harsh, I do enjoy watching Sen. Good luck to both of them!

Wait...

What criteria did they use for selection? Are they litteraly just sending a code S spot to Sen because he's a popular player? I like Sen and hes a great player but hes never actually put out winning results. Stephano surely would of made more sense. Although I suppose if GOM was a purely rational organisation not driven by emotion then Naniwa wouldn't of been kicked out in the first place.

Sen probably meant it in his own language tbh.

"Sen" is god/deity in chinese.

If you are watching Blizzard Cup, Artosis has just confirmed. Sen is taking Naniwa's spot, as simple as that. GOM is making an example out of Naniwa. GOM can get all the viewers from Idra and US subscribers, it could care less about Europeans.

Not to mention that Sen defeated Naniwa at BlizzCon. Naniwa finished 4th while Sen finished 3rd.
"If MC wins this, his name would not be SK MC, it would be ST MC, ST for Saint, performing miracles." - Artosis.
