Could sc2 possibly have a vulnerability? or was this a coinicidence?
I was just playing a game, as zerg and a terran tried to all in me with hellions marines and tanks, i stopped it fairly easily, and then i said to my opponent "was that supposed to be an all in?" and he said no , and i asked why he brought scv's then. ETither way it was a failed attack.
There was a bit of back and forth i didnt say anything too offensive. Then all of a sudden my units are acting funny and i cant select them, and they seem to be selecting and moving a bit by themselves, first i plug in my mouse thinking that mmight be the problem, when its not i try and type and as im typing my keyboard starts typing on its own so i cant even form sentances. About ten seconds after this happens my opponent goes "why arent you attacking..." and i manage to type out virus before i leave.
Then he sends me a message saying "thats what you get for talking back" "fag"
after i excited out of sc2 it ws still doing the same thing, although i could control my mouse it was clicking by itself and inputs were constantly being made on my keyboard. I restarted my compuuter and when it came back it seemed fine for about a minute or 2 before it started again. I managed to get to system restore eventually and set the restore date for 6 days back and it is in the process of restoring (im on my laptop)
Im pretty sure no one could do such a thing through sc2, does anyone know if this is even possible, by what he was saying it pretty much sounded like he was the one doing it. His name is jim raynor and i beleive i have played him once or twice before and we may have exchanged words then as well.
If there is a vulnerability allowing this in sc2 that is pretty scary, otherwise it could purely be coincidence, what do you guys think? Either way it was pretty annoying, I was going to win! llol

This thread can be shut down i think though if a mod desires, i think it was a coincidence, just a very awkwardly timed one =(
Edit: I just looked at his match history and it is highly unlikely that he is a hacker as he has about 10 consecutive losses in a row today ,and 2 losses after he played me even, in retrospect i probably should have checked something like this first unfortunately my computer was undergoing system restore when i wrote this on my laptop. So sorry for this premature post, mods please close when you get a chance.

yes u have a virus, or had a small stroke - but i dont get why u connect it to a game vs some allining terran.... just scan your computer with an antivirus
|
Yeah theres no point to describe it, just post a replay. Maybe you had a huge lag spike and your units were moving 5 seconds after you told them too.

Yeah I would like to see a replay....

Ill post the replay, im honestly thinking it was just a coincidence though, i just wanted to get some community input to see if anyone else had an experience like this.
It just seemed like a very convenient time for a virus to start kicking in.
And i do have antivirus , maybe not the best one though im using microsoft security essentials it got a decent reviews and its free so i thought id check it out.

But yeah, a replay would be nice to see.

Sounds like a coincidence, I've had my computer freak out on me like that before. It wasn't a virus, not sure what it was but a reboot fixed it.
Also, Terrans can bring SCV's without being all in....... ;p
|
Very mysterious story indeed, but it just doesn't make much sense.
He send you a virus through Sc2 that causes your mouse and keyboard to randomly malfunction? I'm just not buying it.

man, this guy is ruing esports:D but this is yust way to sad, its only a game-,-

Ok, but how do we know this isn't the same guy posting on your account after seizing control of your system? You can not be trusted.
But yeah this sounds more like a bad drug reaction.

We must see the replay, we must!

Chances are he typed that line after he was winning because your computer had a malfunction. Also chances are you're a troll. An exploit of any kind is possible just very unlikely.

sounds unlikely. could be some kind of hardware failure. but yea replay

yea i wanna see this replay

The virus was getting to your brain

I can't imagine it actually being possible to transmit viruses through Starcraft 2... I just don't see any way it is possible.
Also I think you were in my division most of last season

Im honestly thinking its a coincidence, i did a restore and my computer is fine now, seemed pretty wierd though. I honestly didnt think it had anything to do with him until afterwards when he said "thats what you get for talking back" i cant remember his exact words now but it definitely led me to beleive that maybe he had something to do with it.

i must have perceived it as a smiley face at the time , beyond that i think im pretty spot on with the timing, couldnt have been more than 10-20 seconds after my computer malfunctioned before he said anything.

after watching the replay i dont think he had anything to do with it, and whats up with his wall
|
Again, though im not stating that this guy is some kind of hacker genius who did this, he seemed like kind of an idiot actually and any exploit through sc2 would be pretty new and relatively unknown which leads me to beleive this was just a very poorly timed coincidence

Again sorry for this waste of space thread, i was a little boggled by the convenient timing of this virus at the time, but thinking about it it was probably just a really wierdly timed coincidence.
After a system restore my computer seems fine as well.

As for what it might have been, you were being forced to type "4sv" repeatedly if your replay is anything to go by, and a google search of "4sv virus" turns up a bit of information. I highly doubt it was delivered to your system through battlenet.

I think im gonna challenge him to a rematch, and if it happens again, well thats 2 coincidences too many for me.

I've seen the replay in both your point of view and his. His apm never dropped to 0, he was active on game before and during you having the virus, there is no way he could have hacked you in 0.5 seconds. Also, from his point of view, i was also wondering why you weren't attacking. When you told about the virus he seemed suprised. I think he was trolling you in post game chat but I'm quite sure he didn't send a virus to you..

I've trolled with way dumber shit than that He had nothing to do with it just a simple malfunction you probably actually only needed to restart your computer/ replug in your keyboard.

He was evil though! i should have taken a picture of what he said to me afterwards it was malicious. I dont even think i was that rude to him. I asked a simple question
Hmm ill look up the 4sv virus, i formatted my computer recently and i had internet explorer open, and i know my flash wasnt up to date so im thinking it could have been a flash exploit as i havent really downloaded much since the format.

lol are you serious? your hatch was hotkeyed to 4, and if you were using standard then 4sv was you trying to make an overlord. i'm pretty sure it was just some kind of massive lag, and 4sv popped up when you were trying to type. then the gibberish was you trying to press random keys on your keyboard earlier and they appeared after a massive amount of lag? if not then i have no idea.
