I know that in Az, it costs a lot extra and is hard to do, but anyone over 18 can have one. I have 2 shotguns, a pistol and 2 rifles, don't really want to get into what they are tho EDIT: for those wondering why in the world would anyone want to buy a gun, have obviously never had the joy that comes from shooting. Sure some are for self defense or for collecting, but i think going out shooting is so fun. I am really good friends with a guy that was a sheriff and on swat, and i can tell you that those are some of the funniest things to shoot. Sure it is dangerous to own firepower, but as long as you are not an idiot, it can be safe. I think owning a car or truck is a lot more dangerous, specialty because of the amount of horrible drivers out there. | ||

They are, to some people, decorative. To others, it's target practice at the shooting range. To others, self-defense. To some, all of the above. I was raised in a home with guns. I was taught from a VERY young age exactly how dangerous they are - in other words I'm a gun safety nut. I know exactly what it can and will do if I point it at something and pull the trigger, and am educated in its use and capabilities. I am, given this knowledge, more comfortable in my personal security and my ability to defend myself if the need ever arises (and I hope that it never, ever will). I don't know how thorough an answer that was as I am from an area with this is the norm and I've never really had to defend this position before. Feel free to ask any more questions. | ||

Seriously, I don't blame people buying guns for their collection, I am just worried about people selling them. How can you even sleep, knowing that someone might do some mass murder shit because of you. I don't care about semi-automatics for self-defense, but automatic rifles, really? Even if someone is eligible to buy weapons doesn't mean he won't go rambo one day. Buying such guns is also illegal in a lot of countries, where animes are not. Since Teamliquid is international and accessible by everyone, I don't think this is the appropriate place for this, and you should have known this would only bring debates (even if you said "no politics" in the OP). | ||

Obvious reason being that they are expensive and a prime target for thieves - plus it is your responsibility to keep them safe and out of the hands of others therefore telling the world that you have a sick collection of weapons including semi-automatic rifles is probably a pretty stupid idea. | ||
