I collect Smith & Wesson Magnums.
Barrels: 2", 4", 6", 8 3/8" Finish: blue, chrome, Parkerized, etc... Type: .357, .41, .44
Currently at 70 total. All safely esconsed in a gun safe at a nearby gun club.
I enjoy shooting a few of them, appreciate the mechanics and worksmanship, and the different feel when shooting each variation.
As some of you know I work the Emergency Dept of a Trauma Center... and no, I don't find it ironic that so many of my patients are gunshot victims...
...because just as the Stella Artois I'm drinking right now won't contribute to any drunk driving accidents (because I'm not driving anywhere), neither will any of my guns shoot anyone, because I use them both responsibly (oh, and not at the same time, btw).
I think the point people against guns are trying to make is that it's easier to cross the line and kill someone if you just have to pull a trigger, than to actually walk up to them and either beat or stab them to death. It's actually a huge difference. There are tonnes of statistics and examples regarding this, so it's not even worth arguing. I guess it's one of the charming things with America. Like Englands old monatary system. It makes no sence whatsoever, but it's kind of exotic as an outside observer. + Show Spoiler +2 farthings = 1 halfpenny 2 halfpence = 1 penny (1d) 3 pence = 1 thruppence (3d) 6 pence = 1 sixpence (a 'tanner') (6d) 12 pence = 1 shilling (a bob) (1s) 2 shillings = 1 florin ( a 'two bob bit') (2s) 2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crown (2s 6d) 5 shillings = 1 Crown (5s)
Personally I don't own a gun, but when I was like 14 or so I used to go with a friend to a shooting range and fire pretty weak rifles and just practise accuracy basically. Nothing fancy about it, but it was actually pretty fun. There was this samurai-like shooting teacher who threw yoda-like quotes of wisdom regarding holding your breath while aiming and whatnot around him, so it was something special for sure ^^

So true.... It's sad that people point to the number of gun related crimes as a sign of a problem in America, while ignoring the overall violent crime numbers. Of course we have more gun-related crime, we have a lot of people and a lot of guns. But crime occurs with or without guns. I'd feel no safer in downtown Sydney than I would in downtown Los Angeles.

The nicest weapon i've ever fired (Steyr Aug)
It just fits PERFECTLY into your shoulder. The bubble scope is nice and its balanced so nicely that you experience very little "bob". So much nicer than M16/AR15 imo.
Edit: i need a thesaurus and more words than "nice" -___-;;;.

I've fired bullpup rifles a couple times and while they are comfortable and compact, I can't get over the trigger pull. I'll take a longer M16/C7/AR with a nice trigger pull over a bullpup,

To my understanding banning for OT posts is common on TL. It would be like going to the Idra fan club thread just to say that Idra sucks. At a certain point a line has to be drawn. Can Idra kill you? probably not. It is not the same, whether people argue it or not. I disagree with a lot of the gun laws in America as I personally believe they cause more trouble than they solve, but I could be wrong. Having said that I like this thread and there are some incredibly beautiful looking guns that have been shown. If they couldn't kill people, hell I'd probably collect them myself
The point is that it derails the thread. You could might as well post trollfaces or yesterday's proleague results or the second coming of Jesus; they all do the same thing in term of bombing the thread with shits that shouldn't be in here.
I don't own any guns (yet), but those Pardini sport pistols look sick, i might get one of those.

Hopefully going shooting for the first time this month, pretty excited for it :D.

Um, my dad owns a 20 guage shotgun, does that count? I'm 16 so I don't own any personally. I just wanted to say that this thread was a real bug zapper lol.

I've always been fascinated by real guns. Miracles of engineering, especially (semi)automatics. But alas I will never own one, due to the almighty dollar and the fact that I have approximately 2342412341234 hobbies already. And for all of you with the short-circuited brains that go straight from guns --> murder, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeet_shootingOne of the million ways to enjoy and appreciate these amazing devices and the skill/art to use them without killing your fellow man. If you are really strapped for money a Mosin Nagant is only $120 or so dollars and has cheap ammo. I think getting even a single cheap gun and a bit of ammo should be a high priority. I'd probably recommend an SKS over the mosin 7.62 is cheap and it won't dislocate his shoulder when fired. Mosins fire 7.62....
I'm sorry to drag this up many pages later, but Mosins fire 7.62x54R, which is a far cry from the 7.62x39 that the SKS fires. World of difference there.
Edit: For reference: + Show Spoiler + Second from the left is 7.62x54R, far right is 7.62x39.

Having a gun definitely gives you more power to harm ppl than a knife or your bare fists.
I guess there's just a massive cultural gap between some countries. I have never even thought about buying/getting a gun in my life but I guess If I stayed for quite some time in a country with a strong gun culture I'd be very tempted to get one if I knew my neighbours were armed like Rambo.
I almost always back up TL moderators but I think that was harsh. Yes it's off-topic but it was an gut reaction to something that can be seen as extremely shocking. It's almost like an american reading "How many Bin Laden posters do you guys own ?".
A warning would have been more adequate. Just the humble opinion of a long time TL user.

I would love to get a Pistol or something. Shooting targets and stuff like cans seems really fun. Also, it makes sense since I plan on becoming a Police Officer.

While not 100% secure (nothing is), it's not like we've got AK's and Shotguns and HPR laying around our living room. Hahaha. I think you give licensed owners too little credit. Besides, don't stereotype us...we're not all "Kill all sons of bitches" kind of people. Do some people fuck up with guns? Yeah. Does that make us all horrible people? No. Go make a guns debate thread if you're gonna bring that crap here. This is our thread to enjoy and brag and gawk at everyone else's toys. Alright, bad day at work rant done. On topic! I'm at a hotel right now far away from home so I'll just have to google photos. if I remember, I'll take pictures at home! ![[image loading]](http://www.aliparsa.com/brno/kar98k.jpg) Story time! My Grandfather (like many of ours!) served in World War 2, and brought back a ton of souvenirs that I inherited. And Love, I'm a huge WW2 nut. I love everything WW2 related from pre-war things to conspiracy theories. Interesting note here (I had a historian talk to me about it!) that when soldiers brought things back from Europe, the customs had to go through and do things like de-brand the weapons, and that sort of thing. Somehow my grandfather smuggled this through and they didn't reforge the barrel to take off the Eagle+Swastika branded in the barrel. My father never showed me it when I was younger and the thing is in pristine condition. It's awesome. Same with the P38 AC 43 ![[image loading]](http://www.tradebit.com/usr/sgtrock/pub/9001/walther-p38.jpg) I practically have a full uniform too...Kinda funny when making first impressions...if I leave my closet in my basement open there's like a full SS uniform down there and everyone is like...the fuck? Haha. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/LNBzx.jpg) This was my grandfather's. Springfield M1C, unfortunately somehow the scope got beat up. Sadface! The sling is in desperate need of attention but...when I feel like it. I don't have any current weapons, really. I'm more into the older stuff. Middle aged stuff in gun years, haha. I'm looking to get a Thompson, been dying to fire me off one of those. Guy at a range in Nevada had one and I was freaking JEALOUS. If I didn't know how 'spencive ammo was I'd have asked to fire off a few rounds. My dream gun that I'll never have... Pancor Jackhammer. ![[image loading]](http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/1/1f/Jackhammer.jpg/350px-Jackhammer.jpg) Oh man I would just...oh man. I know it's only got a few prototypes ever built but the whole thing is just...oh man, gunboner. BRB.
What is the first rifle in your post? Karabiner 98k?

I own a shotgun and a ruger (for hunting). But Ive mostly used a Sauer rifle (competitive shooting)
|
I've only got a Ruger 10/22 right now. I'll probably buy a Browning Pump off my dad someday. Eventually ill probably get a match grade AR-15 for competition shooting. As far as pistols, I can't get any yet, but I'll probably get an XMD or a five seven or something, then a 1911 and a .44 magnum.
As far as what it takes to get an automatic weapon, at least where I live (UT) you have to get a class III weapons permit, which is a few hundred dollars and comes with a fairly thorough background check. You also have to get permission from your town's sheriff on why you are getting it, some are quite against it so that can be a problem. Other than that, they are just really expensive. A MP5 for instance, which was made like what, 30 years ago, costs around $16k. Since they banned the production of automatics 20 or so years ago, there's just not that many going around, hence the high prices. (I'm fairly sure this is right, but I don't have any sources)

Funny thing is a man's survival rate is higher on the other end of that gun.
I don't own any guns, but I want a Maybe in 10 years when I have something worth stealing.

no you can't own automatic rifles. i'm assuming that the rifles you see here are modded to be semi-automatic. i've always wanted a gun. preferably a pistol. i have no idea why. i just find the mechanics of a gun really fascinating.

That's not quite correct. It's specifically designed so that civilians can't shoot each other with automatic rifles, or semi-automatic rifles with less than six rounds per clip. Never mind all the other guns...
