The focus should be to be more effective with you have, not trying as hard as you can to get your numbers up. I can't even begin to name off all of the players I've seen with rather high apms who were still nothing more than average skilled.

Avg APM high was a 10 minute tvz game on neo gamei with 401. That won't ever happen again =/ And people who said "who cares?" and then flaming stuff, or people like the guy above me who despise apm threads, this isn't a thread where we're trying to prove how apm reflects skill or not. The creator just asked for the number. Lighten up a little. =/

Maybe somebody said something quite like Im going to say now, but I didn't follow the whole topic from the beginning. The main problem with APM is that many players trying to get as high as possible, but they are archiving this goal following wrong way. Some people try to remember, that they have to be fast during the whole game. Not only to increase the average APM, but they also follow the simple logic, that higher APM leads to victory. The result of such behavior is a game with really high APM, but full of stupid repetive-clics, or even more stupid selects (1,2,3,1,2,3), etc. If you wish to be faster, try another way. For start, try to make your APM as slow as it is possible. Try to reduce the amount of stupid clics. When you are sending a scouting peon click once on the target location. If you are trying to reach some raising builng with that peon click once near the location. I saw that many people clicks dozen times for a single move. It will increase your APM, but I won't make the peon go any faster. The same thing about any moves. Try to achieve as low APM is it is possible. Of course not by waiting a second between every gateway selection/goon build command, but reduction of unnececery clics. Just analize your games and find any redundant actions, that you could live without. When you achieve this not try to go be faster. Not by stupid repetition, but just make faster all things you already do. You can have APM like 200, but after removal of all stupid actions it may turns out, that you really are about 70. Not because you are slow, but because you waste your time on mindless clicks. Stupid moves give you 250 APM, but you will be owned by somebody with 150, who dont do crappy clicks.
