Maybe it'll be like a HORSE tournament, except they're going to replace Stud with Starcraft II

Yeah I'm trying to find it but some asshole put starcraft in his tags for pokerstars on youtube that have nothing to do with starcraft, but it used to be there. It was a real early episode too.

Nice. SC2 can grow in the west if it does not in Korea. It's beneficial to us foreigners.

I'm sure it has something to do with the EG announcement, which isn't due for a while. I don't know when we'll find out, but I'm hoping it's soon.

Maybe this announcement will be a new reality show by G4 with EG players teaching Daniel Negreanu to play SC2 and become the first non-korean GSL champion. Daniel Negreanu becomes progamer!
That would be simply amazing.

I'm really really excited, especially since I live in socal! Yay

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but I don't think Esports are really going to get that big in the US. Parents here generally think video games are for lazy kids and think video games are just games. How would an American parent react if their son told them he wanted to become a pro gamer? The son would probably get laughed at and get zero support. Also, it isn't that glamorous to be a known WoW/Starcraft player here in So Cal. I would be crucified if my class mates knew I spend my spare time playing Starcraft. There could be some money in it of course, but I'm not sure how successful it would be. It might be successful with the hardcore crowd, but what about the casual crowd?

I still don't think america is quite ready for e-sports. Too much emphasis on consoles and football.
Canada, on the other hand...

possible nfl strike in a couple years, or did that blow over? i like football, but that would be one of the best things for esports to grow

Oh shit instant EBONER!!!

Sports guy here....
The NFL CBA(collective bargaining agreement) expires soon so the 2011 season might be a lockout.

Yeah, you obviously think that now because it's never been tested. Maybe this announcement will help convert the more casual gamers or something of that nature, we don't know. I say we wait for the actual announcement before coming to conclusions.

interesting theory
Gretorp announced that he quit his job and was going to become a full time progamer as his occupation, but I didn't understand why he would need to also move to California in the process.
|
Well whatever it is it has got to be huge. Since they are treating this like a national security secret then it better be big, if not then I and probably everyone else will be disappointed and lose interest fast.
