is there a guide with list of counters?

I don't know if they have it for other races or if it's really that useful. I agree that there's really no such thing as a "counter" but you should still really be able to know if going against Banelings and Zerglings with your Marines is a good idea.

Fr33t United States1128 Posts November 02 2010 19:24 GMT #9 Start out by playing 3v3's/4v4's or maybe some co-ops. You'll learn what counters what way faster than reading the entirety of TL. Much more fun than all that reading too. However, if you are intent on reading, Liquipedia is a great place to start for general information, check it out. Also, you don't have to be a noob to ask questions btw

Seide United States831 Posts November 02 2010 19:27 GMT #10 I like the absurd amount of effort and thought put in by the OP of this thread. Brings back the good old memories of WoW Blizz forums. Some units perform against others better, you can see this in the help window. Otherwise micro and positioning plays a big part, so having a complete list like that is a bit worthless unless you are planning to play some nexus wars or something. Banelings technically counter marines, unless you are BoxeR. -_- It's not like Liquipedia, doesn't have a unit role section for nearly every matchup. Put in some of your own effort man instead of opening a 1 line thread, it's not hard.

orotoss United States298 Posts November 02 2010 20:17 GMT #12 A good thing to know is units that are considered light or armored, and units that do bonus to light or armored. Also, rate of fire helps determine counters. For example, immortals are armored, do bonus to armored, have hardened shields, and fire very slowly. They counter any armored unit (roach, marauder, tank, thor, stalker, colossi) and are generally countered by fast hitting, low dps units like marines and zerglings. Banelings do a ton of damage to light and have splash, so they counter groups of light units, like marines, zealots, and zerglings. Units with splash damage typically counter small units with low hp. Tanks counter all ground units except immortals. In general, I would suggest you go to SC2 armory and study the armor status/bonus damage of different units. It is also good to know that units with multiple attacks do worse vs. armor upgrades. For example, thors shoot four missiles at air units, so a battlecruiser with 2 armor is blocking 8 damage while a battlecruiser with 5 armor is blocking 20 damage.
