Simply put, I got angry with my opponents for not leaving the game even though it's 2v1 and he's got 1 mining base compared to myself and partners' 200/200 food. So I started bantering and swearing at him until he threatened to report me. So pretty much, can you get banned for foul language?

I dont think you can, you'd have to really threaten him, ´not just a few bad words.

Also, why did you start swearing just because he didnt surrender? Seems kinda odd to rage if you're winning and he only has 1 mining base?

Foul language is regarded as unacceptable by Blizzard; wouldn't recommend throwing it around, but it seems most people get away with it.

wheres the problem? 400/400 vs a one mining base player? just overrun him. no reason to talk with your enemy. silent ownage is still the best!

From the EULA: "Account Suspension/Cancelation.
BLIZZARD MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR DELETE ACCOUNTS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU."

All that has to happen is someone has to report you in-game and someone who reads the reports will decide that he feels that you are indeed breaking the rules and then you will be banned. Good luck.

It's probably best to never say anything to anyone. Maybe the lack of chat channels is a good thing, after all.

Didn't know that...A few days ago I was playing vs a terran that I beat early with just lings and he just lifted off his buildings and move the around all the map. Of course I BM. He told he reported me

It's not so uncomplicated as you are making it to be. One guy just can't ban people because someone reported him with not so much reasoning.
If the OP has a lot of complaints on his belt then it's a another story.
But there is a line even in swearing so I of course would suggest that in future you would restrain yourself.

Also no, lack of chat channels isn't a good thing :o I don't want that some immature people ruin it for everyone. If someone consistantly wants to offend other players he deserved to be banned, but some of us actually can play the game and chat without being total assholes.

Edit: I don't get it when people start to offend other players even when they are clearly being a dick with lifting buildings etc. Isn't it excactly what he wants, to annoy you? Why not just continue to kill him and move on.
If he cheeses you and you lose just leave, if you are not in the mood for GG.

If you're afraid of getting banned for swearing you probably throw some really unnecessary insulting words at him. If you cross the line you can get punished for that of course. So you better behave a bit. I don't understand why people have to go complete ape shit anyways x.x

As much as Blizzard warns about being rude or insulting other players, they aren't going to have the resources to consistently ban people for it. This isn't WoW, where they have customers paying for services, such as having extra personnel around for support in these types of situations.

There is no way Blizzard can monitor this stuff continuously unless they are getting paid for it. Just imagine the amount of money and resources they'd need for this. You can't just say someone insulted you and then get them banned. There is a burden of proof here, and Blizzard would require a lot of man hours to shift through hundreds or possibly thousands of complaints.

you cannot be banned for telling a player to shut the fuck up.

you CAN be banned for telling a player you are going to kill them, rape them, do harm to them or threaten them or anyone related in any way.
