As for the whole "check their replays, the Koreans are awful" argument; we had this early in the beta, then East and West actually played and the Koreans were shown to be better. Now we've gone a few weeks without Koreans and foreigners facing each other, it seems the same argument has resurfaced, despite there being zero evidence to support it.

Western kids sitting in their bedroom playing for a few hours after school/college can't compete with full-time pro-gamers who live in team houses and practice for 12 hours every day. A lot of the good westerners play a ton. You CAN fit in eight hours of play with school/college. Just not easily. Plus with the way the game is headed, you will see full time pro gamers in the West. Now there is an argument for skill, and progamers like Nada definitely have that. But whether that skill is any greater than anyone else is entirely debatable. Also of note, if anyone's going to be good at this game, my moneys on China, not Korea. We(America) beat Korea in the US vs China vs Korea showmatch thing in beta, but China beat us. From what I recall, they had the best Warcraft 3 players, and I see a similar trend in Starcraft 2.

Look at the video Artosis did of Upmagic who played for like 3 days and was keeping pace with Idra. Upmagic isn't even close to how good Nada was. The mechanics aren't exactly the same. Sure the skill in progaming is, but hitting a key and hitting A for marine is vastly different than clicking on a building and hitting m. So macro is entirely different, and different expectations are required. For example, if you're staring at your buildings a changeling could slip into your army, or you could miss a cloaked unit.

But it's fucking NADA. Nada forever. I hope he wins and kicks TLO's butt in the process.

You do realize that these people put 12 hours EVERYDAY into BW for MANY YEARS to get to where they are. So you expect them to come in sc2 with 1 week and just own? *sniff sniff* i smell SC2 newbie .. you do NOT UNDERESTIMATE Flash's Ruler .. ever .. I despise Fash so much but you think these gamers are just all practice?? its in their blood like all the posters above me .. its mechanics .. mindset .. guys like flash have them built in their circuitry .. thats why these progamers are dubbed robots, bonjwas, GODS in these fields .. because mere mortals like TLO wouldn't be a problem .. and you give Flash 3 weeks on top of that .. this isn't fanboyism .. humans like JD, Flash, Nada(in his prime), are true players.. TLO is just a gamer .. i dont even like JD/Flash that much .. i hate rooting for the top dogs ..

Timing attacks, scouting certain builds etc. If you see a Terran getting their second gas after rax and before factory you KNOW that they're going banshees with cloak, and only practice is going to a) tell you this and b) help you to counter it. I agree though, any S-class (or possibly even A-class) with 3weeks of practice would rape any current SC2 players. You CAN fit in eight hours of play with school/college. Just not easily. Get dimaga, TLO and Jinro in a practice house playing 10-12 hours a day, and you'll see the same level of skill as the Korean teams. That's all it's about- Practice. Just like anything else in life. In the past, gaming was not taken as seriously in the west, and it still won't be as serious as it is in Korea, but we will see a good number of western players actually dedicate their professional lives to SC2. We can already see that, with TL going to Korea.
