Hey there people in TL. I know some of you may be going 'oh man... not another mouse topic...!', but hear me out first.
I have palmar hyperhidrosis. My palms sweat regardless of whether I'm playing games or not but of course it gets worse while I'm playing.
I'm looking for a reasonably priced gaming mouse that's good enough for playing RTS which DOESN'T have rubber coating on it. Had a Razer Krait and the rubber coating wore off just after a few months of use. =(
I'll appreciate any advice and suggestions. Thanks!
eh rubber coating? Looking at my mx518, I don't think it has rubber coating on the palm portions, i believe it's brushed aluminum or something....also probably wrong section as well.
I used to actually have a mouse with a fan inside it, but it only lasted about 1 year, although it WAS only 15 bucks. They still make some from what I can see, try searching your nearest electronics super-outlet, or look online at the larger electronics suppliers.
The mx518 is great for sweaty hands. The only problem is that the red circles are where crap starts to build up after a while if your palms profusely sweat like mine do. It's easy to remove, but it's crusty and stuff.

what kind of deformed freaky hands do u have where ur palms would be touching the far end of the mouse, where most normal non-gorilla people would have their fingertips?
I use Microsoft Explorer 3.0 It's a great mouse. There is a thin coat of rubber where you have your thumb but it doesn't really matter. Also, it has a reasonable price.

The palm is where the sweat is coming from, but since the shape of a mouse has the palm raised from the fingertips, the sweat will collect at the ends of your fingertips, being one of the lowest points of your hand.
Hmmm I've seen the MX518 around but not sure of its quality. It sucks to have sweaty palms. My laptop's keyboard have a layer of... gee.. i don't know what it is.. =.= but anyway thanks for the tip so far guys. I'll have a look at the MX518.
The Logitech Mx518 as suggested if you insist on being tethered to a wire. The logitech G7 otherwise. It is a great finger tip mouse, especially if you have sweaty palms. It also is extremely accurate and responsive. Before any ill informed trolls bother, the wireless "Lag" that gamers hated disappeared years ago. I am a competitive FPS player, I above all should notice this if it existed anymore. Hot swappable batteries make this an even bigger win, no stupid AA batteries to deal with.
Also something you may want to consider. I have a friend who does this and has the same issue. Glove A friend of mine uses one of these and keeps an absorbent pad in the palm. He removed all the supports out of it, since he wasn't using it for bowling. It does a great job of keeping your hand drier and your mouse cleaner. It has the added benefit of making your clicking more precise since your fingers aren't subject to sweat slipping. It doesn't have to be this specific one, it is more of the style then anything.
As for your recent quality concern..Logitech quality is generally pretty much tops. If nothing else it is far more quality then what Razer puts out.

My only concern for using gloves is that it'll stink after a while. But it is something that I'll consider. That's a very informative post there! Thanks a lot.
Razer Krait is plastic, but when I sweat on it a lot it starts smelling like banana for some reason. It's not an unpleasant scent and I find myself sniffing my mouse in times of boredom.

It is machine washable, so just toss it in the wash every so often.

They could call it a gaming condom!
But in seriousness, I use one of those basic Microsoft optical mouses. They're nothing extraordinary, but they're reliable and just plastic. If the weather is quite hot, I have to clean the mouse off every once in a while, but since they're plastic, a damp cloth does the job in like a minute.
I keep a towel by my computer anyway, to wipe my hands on between games.

I've had a MX518 for 4 years, and it has been working flawlessly the whole time except for one detail, the cord. It seems to wear down at the point where it enters the mouse, and after a year or so the mouse randomly lost connection to the computer. The solution was to open up the mouse and change the positioning of the cord inside the mouse, so it can start to wear down other points. I know other people have had the same problem. Overall I think it is a great mouse, you should try it.
I have a Logitech G9x Laser, and I love it, its the best mouse I've ever owned, and I've gone thorough 3-4 Razor models, Roccat Kone, Roccat Kova and alot of the mx models from logitech etc.

Dude, the Krait has some sort of rubbery coating on it. I'm trying to avoid using those mouse. lol.

Most logitech mice have rubber grips on the side for thumb/ring/pinky finger, but the button and palm portions are some sort of matte or polished plastic it seems, so just shop around on their site and see what you like

Really? There's only rubber on the sidebars which you can take off anyway...

I had this one, I was pretty good and in CALeague with DotA with this mouse for a little while. Just it died after a year.
I use the Mx518 (just switched over after my G5 cord ripped) and am absolutely loving it. I find it has a great design for fitting the hand and you won't have to worry about the quality, it's more than okay for gaming, especially SC. As mentioned by an earlier poster, the mouse is completely plastic so you won't have to worry about ruining the rubber coating.

People REALLY need to stop recommending Logitech mice to this guy, they are all very small compared to most mice (and great for their intended market that is average computer users, and light-medium gamers), and he would have to place his entire palm over any Logitech mouse to hold it properly as a result 'finger-tip mouse' as someone said is not the case. You still have to rest your palm somewhere, and for the OPs case resting it on the mouse is NOT an option.
The Copperhead & Diamondback (Razer) have rubber buttons, but the actual hand-rest is plastic.
I'm currently using a death adder, and the hand-rest isn't plastic. It honestly feels like a small rubber coat on the top. I'll try finding information on it.

There is so much FUD in this post it is almost comical. Seriously, the guy asked for good information of a serious condition. Don't go around posting bs like this in the future, thanks.

Back to the real story....um, this is pretty interesting. I don't know about the mouse with the vents..that may just spread the sweat everywhere else, OR even get in there (somehow). I believe the glove idea is your best bet (and most convenient).
