If you told me your AIM I could probably find your real name in like half an hour. The problem is that people have no awareness of what they do on the internet. Maybe now some of them will take notice.

If you think everyone against this is just a cowardly fool then give your name or address in this thread. Being able to protect your identity in a public forum (especially one aimed at hormonal kids with a lot of time on their hands) can be considered rather important. I don't find using your real name on a forum to be a disastrous idea on the face of it, but on a huge forum like the blizzard one I think it's absolutely idiotic that you're being forced into it.

Makes people accountable for what they say. People just wanna go around making fun of people, complaining about shit, without any consequences. When that shit is tied to your real name, you better pay attention to what you are saying. Unfortunately, people will just pseudonym in the future- Too bad there isn't a way around that. You would get way better quality.

At the same time it's going to drop general traffic immensely. Maybe that's a good thing...

on a side note: they should really just hire teamliquid staff to ban trolls on their forums and mod it, they do a real good job here... i mean.. at least if you work for blizzard you get paid...

Maybe the discussions would benefit from that but in general it's just another step towards blizzards final goal: TOTAL WORLD DOMINATION!

I'm assuming that we're talking about new forums for a new game here. Not a sudden change to the existing accounts of users with hundreds or thousands of posts.

Too bad I have to make a new account for every game I get, since I can't get Blizzardhelp if I get hacked (good luck proving that I am foreign exchange student Lawrence Mason from Scotland), but they don't really leave any other option available. Lets hope they hack my WC3 account first :p

Look. The problem is that Gaming still has a very bad stigma about it. Hence, I want to retain full control of WHO I show that part of myself to. End result is that I will not post a single word on the battle.net forums.
