If Stork wins all games following games need following results.
Jaedong < UsK UsK > Bruce
This will give UsK 3 wins and 1 loss and with beating Jaedong he would finish first. If thats not going to happen, Stork has to drop a game.

Horror won Lamer so he will advance if they both will be 2-2

"1. 3-0-0 0pts [image loading] [image loading] Jose "CaStrO" Castro -------> Advances"
CaStrO is not qualified yet.
Edit: MidiaN>DIMAGA. So now CaStrO is in for sure .

MidiaN > DIMAGA acording to Elsi

Jaedong is 4-0. He won over UsK. This means Stork will have to drop a game.

Last year vs sAviOr bo1 now vs Luxury Best Of 3! Biiiiig difference, GO DISSY!
Also Mondragon won't have to play Luxury until semi finals (if he manages to get that far)

I cant believe Ace just made it... I'm so happy right now. :D
Too bad Stork will probably drop a game not to face JD too early and this way he faces Ace next round. o,o

I really hope the english vods are posted soon.. I remember in the last WCG - we had to wait forever and even then GGL didn't have all of the vods. Plus since djWHEAT isn't at WCG anymore, I doubt even GGL will have any of the vods..

castro lost on purpose is the talk?
dunno though
kwark, come and say hi^^

Castro on purpose? Why should he? There is stork, Draco, lx and he probably will face stork. So...

maybe he is counting on Stork to drop a game, and therefore wanted to play the firstplace in that group..

I have a feeling someone in Group F (NonY/TTTT) will purposely drop a game to avoid the lower bracket with Koreans.
EDIT: Oh, they can't meet until the semis. Well still.

It is not a problem to change your surname. One of my friends changed his surname: he also took the surname of his mother.

Does anyone know where one can find decent quality VODs? I just watched Baezzi's upload of Jaedong vs Bruse, and it was frustrating 'cause I couldn't read the chat.
In addition, it'd be nice if it were our great english commentators as well.

Ret is out, castro still in...
Yep, karma's a bitch.
Go castro!
PS. castro arrived late and wasn't allowed to play Ace. That's why he got a loss. Just clearing that up.
|
|
|
I was the one who 'beat' foru. Lost 1-2. Androide 2-0'd Silent_Control the same year I did in 2005 Singapore.
|
Thats still pretty good taking 1 game from the eventuall champion!
|
i hope Stork get's eliminated :D haha
and Draco advances :D
|
|
|
There is no non korean who has officially beaten foru or xellos in a BO3 series yet. A lot of them were close like sen and storm 1-2 foru
|
Stork would throw a game and end up 2nd and luxury end up first. They gonna plan this to avoid each other. 3 koreans will be in top, bottom and center of the brackets.
|
Fuck I wanted Dimaga to advance with Castro!
GW to Ace though, I think hes a weaker ZvP/T gamer than those two.
And damn ret, lose to Bruce?

I second that.
IIRC it wasn't Dimaga or Castro who beat JF and Dreiven in the ESL, but Ace.
And hell, even I could take a game from Castro and I'm by no means an accomplished foreign level superstar or something

So I think Nony is guaranteed a tiebreaker at least, if ETBrooD and ChinaTTTT win the rest of their games. Should advance otherwise.

He was but since #2 and #3 from WCG Russia (Brat_OK & localhost) had visa issues the following two players after them qualified and were sent instead. Pomi still went though, but now along with Androide and Bruce.

no use though. If DK and LX win the remaining games, they will tie stork 3-1. Stork will still emerge as 1st seed.

this blows. bottom half has all of my favorite players in it. its matchups will be interesting though - probably the winner of Mondragon v NonY vs the winner of Stork and Jaedong
pretty much the top foreign PvZ and the top korean PvZ? winners to duke it out for the right to play luxury?

NonY is looking solid: play through Horror and Mondi = semifinal spot against winner of Jaedong-Stork. Hopefully Tyler can give us some great games against the Koreans (assuming he can beat Horror and Mondi, which I think is likely but will be very tough)!
I want to see the cheese he mentioned during the TL podcast.
|
So does this mean that Korea can no longer take Gold, Silver, and Bronze?
|
Mondragon's zvp is one of the best foreigner matchups of all-time at WCG. I mean, he's 3-0'd Zeus, 1-2'd Reach and had a pretty damn good series again Nal fucking Ra. It's one of those matchups that you just don't expect to lose against a foreigner, and often good enough to give the koreans a run for their money. Historically, some other matchups I'd consider around the same level (at their primes obv) would be Testie's PvT, Draco's PvT, Elky's TvZ.
I know Elky did lose to Blackman, which shows that the "invincible" aura can be defeated. But until it happens, I don't think you can in good conscience predict that it will fall before it actually happens.
That said, if Nony wins it would, imo, be a huge statement and allow him to absolutely hit the ground running when he gets to Korea.
|

At the same time, I think the cadre of US zergs would agree that PvZ is NonY's best matchup. I'm looking forward to a good series.

nony has been training to be a professional.. his PvZ is top outside of korea imo. Mondragon had and maybe still has the top ZvP outside of korea but he hasn't beenplaying as actively..I favor nony.

Yea the best zvp
but what happened in the game vs stork in the last wcg?
he survived for like 5 or 6 minutes?

I don't dispute that Nony's PvZ is his best matchup. I might even give you that his PvZ might be the best outside Korea (JF, Drieven and others might have a legitimate beef with that). And I definitely expect (and hope for) a good series. I just don't think there's any good evidence other than the consensus of "American zergs" (who are not insincere in talking him up imo, but you're just naturally going to feel confident in the good players you see regularly).
I guess the fact that Mondi isn't playing as much should favor Nony but that has also been claimed in years past, and I don't recall his results suffering much.
I think I just try to temper my expectations of players who are active in the TL community in general, because obviously they have more friends here who support them. I think I recall Eriador calling Rekrul's PvT like top 5 in the world or something. yeah well
go up against enough S-class progamers and you're probably going to look like a scrub at some point
mondragon still has a far longer history of winning big zvp matches on AND offline than nony has of winning pvz's

cant believe ret lost..
and what happened to cloud..
also feel so bad for draco.. he deserves to be in round of 16..

Androide said in the interview that because he was a last minute substitute he didn't practice much for the event. Only (attention!) 180 (one-hundred-eighty) games in 4 (four) days.
I mean - REALLY? It would take me a month to play this amount of games. SICK.

i was watching stork today playing pvz, and as much as i like him jaedong will rape him. mix it with jaedong's incredible zvz (prolly against lux) and you know the wcg gold medalist.

luxury's zvz is considered the best in korea FYI above Jaedong

androide the wcg ninja !1!!

Surprisingly few mirrors for the Ro16. Should be exciting to watch!

Yeah, too bad Androide has a tough road ahead of him, first ChinaTTT, and if he makes it pass him, it'll be Luxury.

I was reading Zatic's live report on that game. It was clear that Stork tried to throw the game and simply failed. Stork's PvZ is his worst matchup, but he still owns 2nd tier PROGAMING zergs. He's not so bad as to have trouble against some random noname foreigner.
Luxury's ZvZ is at least on par with Jaedong's. The reason he can't win starleagues is he can't play vP. Hence he's considered a lesser player. But Luxury's amazing vZ and vT.

I totally agree. Jaedong seems to be really strong against zerg, especially in a bo3 or bo5. I'm pretty sure he'll win the whole thing.

no, stork tried to drop a game against a chinese toss. the game i was talking about was his second group match. and jaedong is simply amazing zvz, he is the one guy who made everyone think this matchup isn't luck at all.
don't take it personal, lux is a great guy, but he won't beat jaedong in a best of 3.

Luxury lost his two last best of 3 matches against zerg - both versus Jeadong (WCG Korea and MSL S4). He'll lose the next one, too.
Edit: ok, he won against July...

No
Jaedong 42-12 77.78% win Luxury 38-19 66.68% win
Jaedong vs Luxury 5-2
Jaedong is concidered the best zvz in korea, above luxury. Now its clear.

So much for a foreigner winning WCG this year

Getting knocked out of a tournament by Stork isn't particularly disgraceful, even if you're Jaedong.
Edit: And grats to Strelok. (Since it hasn't been updated yet, Strelok 2-0 LoveTT.)

I'm surprised strelok did so well, especially considering he didn't even place 1st in his nation - I knew he had the ability, but for him to beat lovett for bronze -> thats surprising.

It's simple, Stork goes into a game with a plan and Luxury's..."interesting" ZvP will totally throw him off his game.

Alot of bad players don't realize what stork did in game 3 against jaedong so I will fill you in.
He completely mind fucked him.
Showing sair/reaver with +1 core and not +1 forge is 100% (normally) indicator of pure sair/reaver -> island expo before gateways. After showing jaedong these, he proceeds to build sairs, just to nullifiy muta threat and then cuts probes completely for a dramatic 6 gate zealot legs switch. He tricked jaedong into going for a super early drop(not that he knew he would do it) AND overexpanding , his meta-game completely threw jaedong and it was brilliant, esp after jaedongs failed scout denialand storks timming push into goon/reaver the game before.
Stork gave jaedong weird information and jaedongs "shitty" drop was a result of that.
I've never minded my favorite player losing so little, but man stork really tricked him hard, and I like that!
I hope everybody who watchs this match looks for these small meta-game things they are what make the pro's pro's.

You're still forgetting the fact that Jaedong did not even attempt to scout Stork before going for the drop. He tried to do so with some scourges and failed. Then he immediately went for the drop. The drop was also scouted too.
Although you can excuse him for assuming Stork went full blown corsair/reaver, at the very least he could've suicided some more scourges or ovie just to make sure.
In the end, his choice was at the very least a risky play. Even if it can be considered justified.

storks unique build, and it was done differently then normal, created an unusual situation. Like I said stork can't be credited with jaedong drop, but he can be credited with confusing jaedongs strategy, jaedong did not scout the gateways , I agree it was his fault, but it was stork play that made him not scout as much as he normally does.

That's true. Although I was still surprised that Jaedong seemed pretty unprepared for Stork's builds. This isn't the mechanical Stork of 2007. Recently Stork has relied on unorthodox plays as much as his mechanics for his wins. And Jaedong should've been the better preparer for the match given that his coach was on-location to help him.

Stork > Bisu Stork > Jaedong Stork ? Flash
Stork doesn't want to be 2nd anymore Lets see how he fares later on with the man who killed Reaver/Carrier

Stork got another 1st place, amazing
|
Wow, I'd really like to see the Stork / LoveTT series where Stork dropped a game.
|
I checked the site and the replays aren't up.
Anybody have a rough idea when they will be?
(I need to setup a couple hour block of free time!)
Thanks in advance.

I believe Luxury. You believe in Luxury's ZvP? I feel for you, bud. A lot of people would say that about Stork's PvZ, and look where he ended up there?

This WCG bracket system is beyond terrible, if you watched stork vs legend in group, both tried their best to lose the game to avoid jaedong, for examples: stork double expanding even he sees the 4 gate from legend, legend is about to kill a pylon, which powers 6 gates by itself but he decides to not to kill it, legend dances his goons without hitting once and for shit like that, they really need to change their bracket system.
|
Legend said in NeoTV interview that this year's WCG may be his last. He is retiring T_T
|
i just watched stork vs jaedong and i love stork but i smell a luxury win. I think this "new" build is vulnerable to agro-zerg style. Of course thats unless stork comes with another nice build suitable to counter luxurys style (like that 1 gate tech on destination), but still my instinct tells me luxury.
|
Unlike going against Jaedong, Stork doesn't need a special build against luxury. Luxury has never shown good game sense against protoss. And he was Stork's whipping boy in both the OSL and the proleague finals.
|
whats the deal with ppl dissing Luxury's ZvP? hes 54% vs P and 56% vs T ...
28-23 vs P.
|
Good job Strelok!
After so many years he was finally able to go to WCG, and there is a bronze medal... beating those two top Chinese players was huge, so it's totally deserved
|
Yeah, that's awesome (i'm talking about Strelok)! And he's 9-1 against non-korean players (all TvP). Pretty impressive. :-o
|
whoa holy shit strelok beat lovett o.O
|
hey, would anyone be so kind to post the CS results so far ? :s

I was actually thinking about the possibility of 2 people trying really hard to drop a game and wondered what the result would be. I saw the Legend vs Stork replay and wow.. Legend goes cross pos 2gate zealrush he almost kills the pylon but then runs away at 90 hp and throws his units stork then double expands while legend makes 4 gates lol legend then just proceeded to blatantly throw his units away and gg's, it was pretty funny

Thx for that , and they say bw is shallow ~~

Watching Strelok play was amazing, he deserved the third place. I was standing behind LoveTT, and he was never in control of the games against him.
Luxury looked like invincible against foreigners in his first person view, he was in total control. Masscata never did anything against him and ChinaTTTT never left his base without getting massacred. In fact it was quite an achievement by Strelok to dispute his map control for a while in the second game ^^

Hoho looks like Stork got killed 0-2.
Lucky for him WCG world final doesn't count for much.

I'm not sure which WCG thread to post this, but where can I find the infamous Stork vs Legend game? The WCG website doesn't seem to have it, and it won't load any other games. Also, can I find the WC3 finals commentated in english anywhere? Those, the WCG does have, but the player flakes out.

Im happy that Nony made it to the ro8, too bad he didnt beat LoveTT. Also glad that Luxury won in the finals, even though they were pretty anti-climactic.
