oops can someone change the thread title so that there's a space between [PL] amd CJ? It makes it easier to look things up later. sorry.

|
lol you seriously believe in it ?
|
this is soooo a must watch cant wait
EffOrt < by.great ( i think effort is better but its zvsz and i want to see Iris play)
Much > JangBi (average pvp cant stand up to Much)
sAviOr > TT (no way savior is going to drop this)
Iris > firebathero (Berserker crushes silly dancer)
3:1 CJ
Id like seeing Savior crush Fbh in the ace match 2 but it wont go that far.
|
fixed
but seriously, those are my predictions.
|
I hope the destroyer plays Firebathero in the ace match, marking the beginning of the end of 2009.
|
by.great Janbi Savior FBH
|
I totally forgot about this, but Jangbi's TLPD picture should be changed =p
|
|
by.great jangbi savior Irs (hoping but probably fbh)
and hoping for an FBH vs. Savior showdown, that woudl be epic.
|
You can use [indent] instead of the underscores btw.

I GIVE YOU MY POWER SAVIOR! I SEE THE FUTURE AND YOU WILL WIN!

i'm so sick of mirror matches in pro league

That's only because TLPD isn't updated with his GOM games yet - he lost 0-2 to [T] Bogus from STX in the Ro64.
Both of those games were really wacky (cheese attempted by FBH and then by Bogus) and they make FBH 10-3 in his last 13, which is still crazy - especially when you look at his schedule. He's basically played every power Terran in SC right now.
Iris is a TvT god of old, but FBH's TvT is too strong (it's even better than his TvZ, just much less hyped).
Edit, oh yeah, predictions:
EffOrt > by.great - both of these guys are hot new Zergs, but I think EffOrt's ZvZ must be superior given all of his excellent mentors and practice partners at CJ.
Much < JangBi - neither of these two has ever been super strong at PvP, but JangBi has been showing far better all-around play lately. Also, JangBi will be practicing this MU like crazy in anticipation of his MSL semi against Kal - and he can play against Stork whenever he wants. JangBi also has the mental advantage because he's coming off of a 3-0 rape of Yarnc.
sAviOr < TT - old-school brawl! Stork gets some time off after taking the OSL, and hence we get to see former 2v2 star TT. I remember some KHAN players hyping TT for his seamless transition to 1v1, so I'll pick him here. I have no particular love for MJY, but he is pretty hot right now. This one is a tossup.
Iris < firebathero - (see above)
In the event of an ace: EffOrt > Stork - I'll assume that, even though he isn't in the lineup, Stork will be on the bench for this match. In that case, CJ can't really play Much or Iris. If sAviOr wins I think they'll send him, otherwise it will be EffOrt. I hate Stork so I'll pick him to blow the match for KHAN, vs.-type-b style.
|
I quit watching every pro game shortly after Iris' OSL semi vs Savior and his absolute dominance in TvT, I refuse to believe FBH has a chance.
|
lol i see CJ 3:0 khan
but please god, let it end with a savior vs fbh ace!
|
FBH Vs Savior for ace pure sex.
|
TT vs Savior a toss up? lol..come on man seriously. Im not even a savior fan but really thats a game savior should win.
|
On November 03 2008 08:13 ShmotZ wrote: lol i see CJ 3:0 khan

ya srsly, this is going to be utter rape, i think much is the only one that might drop a game because he's been slumping l8ly.
3-0 or 3-1, no way this is going to ace, but would love to see savior crush fbh for ace
|
effort jangbi sAvi iris or effort ace
|
|
I see this going into Ace, with Effort, Jangbi, Savior, and FBH winning. The Savior vs. TT game will be the most interesting, if only because I'm curious to see what build TT has in plan for Savior.
Btw, Stork is unavailable because of WCG correct? Not that I think it matters much, as I see Jangbi in ace match given CJ's roster.
|
WCG starts around Nov. 14th. (Nvm, I'm dumb) Besides, Jaedong is playing tonight. I think Stork is just taking a break (maybe with his gf?). He's deserved it.
|
WCG starts Nov. 5th, 2 days from now. That said I'm pretty sure all the Korean WCG participants will go together and since Jaedong's playing, Stork's probably still there too.
|
Savior vs TT is indeed a treat for those Savior fans... Even if the guy is slumping like mad, there's no way he'll lose to a 2v2 player. Maestro win +1... too bad the rest of the matchups arent looking so good for cj.
|

Thanks. That's crazy just how little they prepare for WCG. So I guess Stork is just taking a break then. Well, here's hoping Khan can hold on until Stork can play again. But at least we get to see how their young players do.

We're not talking about Bonjwa Savior here...we're talking about 2008 Savior. 3-1 in the PL and suddenly he's a favorite? I'm not so sure.
I agree it's a game Savior should win, but what I'm saying is that discounting TT is a mistake. We can only judge this guy based on the reviews of his teammates and his 2v2 play, but both criteria make him look good. On the grounds that we really have no solid basis for judging either player in this matchup, I stand by my assertion that it's a tossup.
|
My predicitions
EffOrt > by.great I don't think this one needs much discussion. EffOrt has been amazing by.great lately and his micro has really show through in ZvZ
Much < JangBi I agree with some of the people above that Jangbi is playing amazing now and just came off his 3-0 win against yellow[arnc]. This game is a toss-up but I do think Jangbi will win this game pretty easily
sAviOr > TT I don't think this game will even be close. As long as Savior plays half decent and doesn't lose to proxies and proxies gateways + cannons and anything like that, then he is just going to roll over TT pretty easily. TT is really only known for cheesing. Almost any long game that I've seen of him hes just loses in the end
Iris < firebathero I know Iris is 3-0 FBH but FBH is 10-3 TvT in his last 13 [including GOM] and his TvT is well known to be pretty high level
Ace Match
Much vs Stork / JangBi / firebathero I do think Much will get sent out or possible savior if it goes to ace match. If Khan sends out Stork then Much will get raped and possible the same if they send out Jangbi. I would love a FBH versus Much match and I think FBH will rape him. Hes probably been practicing TvP so much since he plays Bisu in the MSL in 4-5 days.
|
Haven't seen sAviOr's ZvP for a while this should be interesting, even more so considering he is up against free in gom who has been good PvZ lately (including beating sAviOr and Jaedong 2-1 recently.

sAviOr did 2-0 Jangbi recently at blizzcon, for all it's worth.
|
EffOrt > by.great Much] < JangBi sAviOr > TT Iris < firebathero
Ace: No idea, Khan will probably take it.
Reasoning, match one; By.great showed great [ha] play against Savior, however effort was far more impressive when he dismantled Hwasin. Considering Savior beat by.great 2-0, effort being on the same team as him, and efforts momentum- I think he will take it slightly.
Reasoning, match two; Jangbi is on fire. He is one of the best players in the world. Enough said.
Reasoning, match three; TT squandered his advantage against free. He looked alright up until that point. Perhaps it was nerves, perhaps he doesn't have killer game sense, perhaps its just hard to transition back to 1v1. Whatever it is, he has done nothing that shows me he will do anything but be embarrassed when Savior runs over him.
Reasoning, match four; Iris use to be great tvt. Use to be. His results since DAUM have been less than inspiring. That is not to say he hasn't shown strong play, or that his tvt isnt returning to form, but its to say that I don't think Iris can be accurately described as a tvt monster like he once was. Personal stats or not, FBH is just plain better at the moment. Sorry Iris
Reasoning, ace; Khan can send out Jangbi to take down Iris, Effort, Savior, Much, or just about any player on CJ. Stork can be sent out to snipe just about anyone as well, with perhaps some qualms over his ability to defeat a Zerg. Firebathero can beat Effort/savior/Iris. Much is his only viable threat. I mean, in general, Khan ace can sweep any CJ ace they bring out. CJ if they are in this position will have to choose their ace very wisely. Hopefully they beat Khan- because Khan is pretty lame.

I am excited to see TT play 1v1. I don't think I have ever seen it..or at least don't remember.

You don't remember his ridiculous OSL run a few years back? Ridiculously bad play. If he still plays anything like he did back then, he's going to get stomped.

GOMTV MSL season 2? That was about a year and a half ago! So much has changed since then, both specific to TT (transitioning to a successful 2v2 player and then back again, becoming captain of KHAN) and general to the SC scene that it's really hard to use those games as evidence. Even "game sense" and basic 1v1 skills can totally change over more than a year - look at FBH's TvP, he hung around 35% winrate for over 100 professional games spanning two years, and appears to have totally turned around his play in that MU in a matter of months (more like weeks).
Anything can happen, especially in the KHAN house. I hate Samsung as much as the next guy, but if they are talking up TT then I'll hop on the bandwagon.
|
Ace match should be interesting...Anyone that gets sent out from either has someone that can take them out.

disappointing game by effort he even saw that he kept making lings and didnt match him? :S
|
By.great's doing pretty well. Could he actually be capable of rounding out Khan's lineup as a solid zerg? With the new PL rules of having at least one player of each race, this could be very important for Khan's sucess this season.

Samsung 2-0 CJ

gg jangbi wins 2-0 for khan!

Never could understand when a manner pylon's good or not. THought some of them looked worthless, but then again, these guys know better than I.

It seems that both Jangbi and FBH did some miracle practicing the past offseason. Both have really taken their vP skills up a lot.
Torn about this next match. On one hand I want Khan to win. But I also want to see a series-ending ceremony from FBH.

Live reports, please. Streams are fail.
|
|
my streams sketchy, but its a normal neo req game with 2 gate pressure zeal /w ramp block vs lings /w drone drill. savior i think also got a hidden expo which was scouted.
|
TT looks ahead as savior is low on drones and lost alot of lings.
|
Savior has put himself in a really hard position.
too reluctant to make a sunken even after seeing the 2gate
then his hidden expo is scouted and doesnt have a single miner making it absolutely useless
|
this match is old school as fuck
TT goes 2 gate... savior went 2 hatch IN MAIN then gets expo that's in the middle of no where but some how gets to be scouted by TT o_O
savior drills his way through a ramp hold of 5 or 6 zeals
and now it's going on to mid game with sairs and hydras.
|
yeah theres a reaver out and savior has to fend two bases that are so far away from each other
|
ok... this is like gg, 3-0
|
TT has completely sucked his way into the worse position now.

goddamnit savior I wanted to see you in ace with FBH
|
if savior can deflect this pressure he wont be in a bad position, his 2nd is mining pretty solidly and he killed a lot of probes in a counter.
but atm it looks like he will lose his main
|
ok now he's in exodus from his main, now he's probably lost for sure
|
wow savior fights back and kills a shitload of probes but then TT lands a reaver in savior's expo and kills 7 drones at once while they are running
AND OH SHIT I THINK SAVIOR JUST TOOK OUT THE NEXUS
|
ohcrap this game is crazy, a sneaky counter from savior kills TT's only nex!
if savior can hold on, he will have this
|
hidden pylon from TT as the game turns into an elimination battle

i knew another elimination race...

Not Savior but TT needs to retire :D
|
oh shit this replay makes it clear how more amazing this match turned out to be.
zealots couldn't fit through that crack but lings could, so zeals had to be shuttled in giving savior more time to hit that pylon
mean while savior himself only has 2 buildings left, pool and den.
|
wtf? I go away for 5 mins when savior is DEAD and come back to see he's won? TT must've done something absolutely terrible to lose that game.

Anyway, time for FBH to show Iris that he needs to retire.

yea but as far as i remeber he gged a second before his last building was whiped out. so i guess this doenst count cause this is a "surrender" what i meant was that noone surrendered and it the kill of the last building made the decission who won and who lost.

17 TvTs, 11 combined other matchups. Any map that promotes mirror matchups IMO suck.
And any map that produces pure vulture battles REALLY suck.

The Return has begun. its just TT, you maestro fans shouldnt get so excited.
I was afk from the scene for the entire maestro reign. All my knowledge of him is from vods and such. His wins , the important ones normally came down to something very do or die to save a win or lose.
The toss doesn't matter, its countering 3 times while getting raped at two bases at once and continuing to counter still, that was the part that I loved.

at least savior won.. . Seriously i knew samsung might win this but i never immagined they could do it before the ace match. Effort, Iris and Much all dropping the ball just seemed way out there.
I'm really dissapointed, not so much because Samsung won but more because of the way they won. Samsung didnt play badly but imho Effort, Much and Iris just played way below their capacity.
|
i think iris and effort underperfomed, much was behind jangbi before the game started, i really like the old man but pvp is not his best mu and jangbi is just a monster atm.

Actually, Savior was the best because he clobbered everyone else.
And the toss here matters quite a bit. Given the situation, against any of the top 10 protoss in the game, Savior would've lost. Savior has not beaten ANYONE of note this season, by the way. So I'm not ready to say that he's "back" just yet. He lost to Nada. He lost to Yarnac, and he beat a bunch of nobodies. Basically he's 2nd/3rd tier zerg right now.

Baubo, Unless you missed blizzcon, savior showed that he still had "it"
Even if you think blizzcon doesn't matter much, it still means something - i mean cleansweeping a tournament 8-0, 2-0ing the likes of forgg (who he lost to in gom) and jangbi (solid pvz) and 2-0ing nada (who he did lose to) is still a big deal. Also Yarnc recently beat Jaedong of all people zvz, and if you watch the game closely, savior pretty much had the advantage until the first muta battle where yarnc's micro shone through.
Still blizzcon doesn't mean much but still...
Also midas is a pretty notable person to beat?

actually i dont think muchs pvp is bad and seeing as jangbi stepped up his pvp just recently i definitly would have expected a more even game.
|
Only just saw this since I was following Lecaf MBC... awesome that Khan are continuing their now 5 game rampage, and even better that Savior managed to keep DESTROYING. Unfortunately he is but a single zerg..
What's happening with much though? He's lost a hell of a lot lately..

imho on Blizzcon everybody played his 100% game. Cause 25000$ is not FF. So i'd say: Hello guys,Savior will destroy everybody in 2009,thank you.

Yes, he did beat Midas, I give you that. It was on Raid Assault though, so not too much credit.
I think Savior belongs in a group of zergs right after the Jaedong, July, the twins, and MAYBE Calm(but not sure). Anyway, he's certainly respectable now, but he's stiill far from the dominating meastro he was.
As for Blizzcon, they just don't practice enough for it. So although Savior won and beat both Nada and Jangbi, I don't think he's better than either one. If Savior played a Bo5 in the MSL or the OSL against Jangbi or Nada right now, do you really think he'd be favored?

maybe not but neither would I favor Jangbi or Nada. That's just it right now, nobody knows how good and consistent Savior is this season. We'll have to see, but right now he sure as hell is doing well.

2bubuo 25k $ is not good reason for preparation well ? It's now MSL and OSL where each player should play at least 20 games to win(20k$ ). It's just Blizzcon.Only 8 games and u have 25k $. Isn't it good ? From ur list i'd delete July, cause he is losing a lot right now. So babubu STFU pls

Well, if you consider the importance of Blizzcon to be comparable(or even more so from this post) to OSL/MSL, then I really can't argue with that.
*shrugs* Savior > Stork + Jaedong I guess, considering those two weren't even good enough to make Blizzcon.

No offense to savior, but the maps are helping him out this time.
He only plays on Raid Assault 2 and Neo Requiem.

He only plays on Raid Assault 2 and Neo Requiem. Requiem is a balanced map for PvZ.
Some could argue it even favors p by a little, because you could turtle hardcore, from your expo spots behind your nat, stork style.

requiem is actually slightly balanced towards pvz right now

Savior showed some imprevous new confidence i thought he was fucked at one point but e managed to pull it off with always a lower unit count and lower tech then the protoss. MJY is back

wtf savior won his game?!!! I turned off my computer at one point thinking samsung won 3-0. I guess I should stop doing that till i see the gg! So happy that savior won!
|
savior was just lucky that tt messed up things simultaneously, he wasted his mainbase, then could've easily gaurded the pylon and won the game but instead he messed up... glad that he won tho ^_^ but pure luck this one ^^ nice that he didnt give up tho i guess >.< but i dont think he did that previously either...
|
Savior didn't play great but the old no-confidence Savior would never have won that game ... that's what's important to take away here. The Overlord maphack at the end was vintage. Next time he needs to make some better decisions against a two-gate though!
|
Wow, that was the best comeback game since Boxer vs BlueK.
I'm really happy for Savior. This is the kind of game that gives your confidence back. Horribly played by TT but great endurance by Savior.
FBH just gave CJ another reason to hate him with his yawns, lol.

There was nothing spectacular about Savior winning his game. It's pretty pathetic that people have to get all excited over games like this where the opponent is a no-name in order to say that Savior is supposedly 'back'. All that's happened is he's been pit against class B players.

It was fucking spectacular:because it wasn't anything else. Not a great play by either, not dominating from sAviOr, but even if you give the victory to sAviOr out of the PURE retardedness of TT, the manner it which the victory was established (established, not GAINED) was at least spectacular.
The best games of BW ever played rarely showcase flawless play. They instead encase a very dynamic flow and a great, unstable tide of emotion, with speckles of genius here and there and also some subtle, flawed decisions that make the game become unusual. Think about Boxer's epic wins: that play he displayed 6 years ago wouldn't last against today's B+ ranks on Iccup, however it's valor is undeniable.
And many absurdely dominating games, with flawless plan/execution/micro from the likes of oov, savior, nada (when they were in their prime) aren't all that great to watch, since the respective opponents at the time never knew what hit them
my 2 cents
