Yup, Ivory is the only respectable Zerg to play this season.
I feel so relieved that Bisu advanced.
Soma?
(is amazing imo)
Honestly Soma's almost too good. It's like auroboros or some shit. He's goin so fast and hitting every mark he goes back in time and is AFK during his match and loses to some weak shit. Or himself.
I bet his off-race is BANGA.
I thought ivOry played pretty good but had some questionable greed going on and some banana peel moments.
If we get a PvZ finals where Soma's the Z I'm gonna grow a rubbery one.

Remastered fix muta splash damage? How :O
No, as I understand it remastered fixed Valkyrie splash damage by removing the occasions where sprite limits caused rockets to not spawn and hence not do damage. Affecting muta balance versus T from the other direction.

I don't believe they ever actually fixed that, they planned to but I think either never put it in or removed it because it broke something else. Either way that wouldn't have any affect on the games we see right now it's only affected when the sprite limit is reached and that isn't done early game. It's mainly in late game with 200/200 but it's mainly when there's more than 2 people.

Yea I think that's always been a misconception about the BW remaster and valk micro and sprite limit lol. I don't think valks were ever busted in pro BW scene because of sprite limit.. only hard to micro until pros sorta figured it out in 2008/2009 with fantasy build.
It does seem like valk micro has gotten a lot better in the last few years since Remastered came out (same as with muta micro), possibly due to turn rate being increased? But might just be that pros have gotten a lot better at it by having even more years of experience with it.
Backshot with valkyries was discovered somewhat recently and that has made them more viable. That's the whole reason why we're seeing them being used more now. As others have said, the sprite limit rarely (or perhaps never) affects regular 1v1.

Hahaha my wife and I only tuned it for this last group and when we saw the Ro16 list, we were like I betcha Zergs are still bitching about something.
On valks — I still clearly remember the TL writeup that had a pic of Fantasy, Oov, and Boxer. The caption was “Hyung, this little nooblet wants to use Valkyries in TvZ. I keep telling him no but he wont listen. Imma make him scrub toilets all weekend.”
So relieved Bisu got through, at least both him and Mini have the potential to do well. I thought Stork played pretty well but never expected him to get out. Impressed by Ivory also, hope to see more of him.

What's the difference between modern valk micro and what is described in this thread from 2009?
I had no idea it was discovered so long ago. That's surprising, because I haven't seen it being used basically ever in professional games until recent years.
I think no one other than FanTaSy bothered to test it, improve on KeSPA era because it's really hard to micro them, they're buggy most times which makes relying on only valks vs. muta scourge risky so it only got resurgence after Remastered came out. I don't think Remastered fixed buggy micro though, just sprite count which has nothing to do with regular games. There was sprite limit which denied valkyries shoot f.e. on Fastest maps if you will make like 2 groups of them.
p. sure i heard artosis talk about the development of remastered and how they asked kr progamers like flash if it was ok to fix the sprite limit bug which affected the valk most prominently and could cause the biggest meta shift. and that something about the way the valks shoot caused the shots to bug in OG bw even tho there wasn't literally 100 sprites on the screen from the valk missiles alone. this is a hazy recollection but to hear artosis tell it the remastered bug fix did in fact impact 1v1 viability of the valk. i can't rly vouch for kespa era popularity of valks but i think it took a while for them to catch on in remastered. like, what was the tvz meta right when remastered came out? compared to now, valks are much more popular, kind of like they were sleeper OP until the builds were refined and tested in ASL et al.
and wasn't the 100 sprite missile limit or whatever it's called like all the sprites on the screen at once including the valks, or only the valks?
i could be completely wrong about everything tho, lol
Hmm apparently Mind had some health problem and also broke up with his girlfriend and that's why he hasn't streamed in two months. Probably not in a good state mentally and not playing much, if at all. Nevertheless he registered for ASL so will show up. But group B may look tempting for some now.

Man this is really testing my memory. Can’t recall game1.
Game 2 I can’t really say what Flash’s build was, but the story here was Zero got the better of him in the opener when Flash did his typical fast scout to confirm 12hatch before he does a very fast expo. Zero hid his natural expansion so Flash’s expo timing and build was messed up. In the interview, Flash said he was mentally preparing for a loss before somehow pulling out the win.
Game 3 I’m not sure if it was a mech switch midway, but essentially Flash got a group of vultures in and decimated Zero. It wasn’t game ending but down 2-0 against Flash with that much of a deficit, it might as well have been.
JYJ could have killed multiple birds with one stone by swapping Mini for Ample but I guess he only wants to practice one matchup. Not sure why he didn't bring Killer to his group instead of Effort? Maybe he wants to use Effort to knock out Soma.
All of groups look so stacked I can't even pick up group of death. Which one? A or C? If we don't count effOrt as top zerg right now it surely looks like C is Group of Death.
I'm really looking forward to Ample's TvZ if he can knock out monstrous herO or late game unbeatable SoulKey so Bisu has chance to get out.
