Seeing other esports banning russian players/teams from attending tournaments, do BSL take any action against russia for Ukraine invasion and the brutal killings of civilians?

wow, yeah let's bring heavy politics into this, that's a great idea!
Regarding Russian players, they are not responsible for their government actions, a witch hunt is not gonna help in any way. It s not like there is a ton of money in BW vs like LoL or the main titles in the first place.
The russian players playing in BSL are regular guys like you and me. I don't see how they should be held accountable/punished for the actions of Mr.Putin.
I don't know if it's right time or place for such conversation but i'm gonna throw my 2 cents right here right now. As a russian civilian man i can't even belive in what's happening in the real life right now. Putin is a crazy guy, his propaganda and police army in Russia is too big for guys like me to go outside and screaming "Stop war", because tomorrow i will probably be in jail. But i'm planning to do it anyway in future days. Everything is going on in Ukraine right now is terrible, and i never cried in my life as much as i did last few days. I feel so sorry and so frustrated for people who feel all the horrors of war right now, but i can't really do anything with that. So i really hope everyone who seeing this messege will understand my position in terms of what's happening. Now you can ban me or any other russian players from BSL and i wont even be angry because of that but you should understand that we are just regular people without big money or audience to really change anything right now. All i khow right now, i don't wan't to represent Russia as a country in future BSL events if it's possible.
I do believe that we all should focus on helping Ukraine, than trying to find someone to blame. As much as I thnk banning russian flag is a good thing to do in BSL - I didn't have time to take care of it yet cuz I have personal matters I need to take care this week. BUT I think Dewalt, Spx, g0rynich and other russian players are as shocked as we are. I also understand argument to ban all the russian players from all the competitions to give ordinary russian people a lesson and information that EVERYONE condemn russian invasion on ukraine. But reality is that in moder information war, nothing is being presented to ordinary russian people as it is. I do believe even banning from fifa will be presented as " russia don't want to participate in football with countries who support killing innosent people...". I'm not good at giving examples, but I hope you got what I mean
That's why I think the best we can do is focus on helping Ukraine. I'm from Lublin - it's 80km from border with Ukraine. There are plety of refuges and people who need help. Beside helping with travel, finding a place to stay, everyone is trying to help as they can, there are collections of medical equipment, food, clothes etc. You can feel the war. But you can also feel the unity in people. But help is deffinietly needed.
After this weekend BSL groups I will organize Charity Event to rise funds to help Ukraine. I hope you will join guys.
I even got the name already. Ruck Fussia Charity Event
I agree with all of you and I think the charity event is a great idea, I will chip in to show my support for sure. Dewalt, reading your response you clearly are a good man but be careful I don't want to see my fav protoss in jail..
Must be an awful and helpless feeling to see one's country (or at least its leaders, army, and misinformed countrymen) do such things, and to have so few tools to actually make a difference without being imprisoned or having your tea poisoned.
I feel scale is important in terms of banning people. If it were a very large event with a lot of exposure, then I'd agree to sending a signal, even if it'd mean banning innocent people - something which should be clarified when banning. But for something within the BW community, it's frankly too small to make a big enough impact to justify the harm it'd put on the banned participants. (2 cents)
I really agree with keeping focus on helping Ukraine instead! I look forward to the charity event - our wallets are prepared! <3
Makes no sense to resort to those type of strong-handed measures in such a small community. It only singles out a number of few people that in no way are supporting the Russian invasion.
Instead, showing solidarity with having everyone play under some handle like: NOWAR-Dewalt etc... seems like a more sensible form of support for Ukraine.

kind of a crude name.. how about "No war but Brood War" or something like that.. better to be positive and professional at the same time, while giving aid to people that are in need of it.

Agreed, even if a country's name is just a label to signify a group of people living together on a particular piece of land. It's harsh to hold a large group of people accountable for the actions of a few.

Bro, you are in no way responsible for what is happenin. And even though there are legitimate reasons for i.e. banning huge russian CSGO organization funded by russian oligarch, these reasons do not apply here. You and the other russian players are not funded by any russian government body or oligarch and hence you can not "apply" any pressure by not playing under their organization banner. I agree wholeheartedly to support Ukraine in any way possible, but this cannot lead to increasing the harm on singular russian people. We are one humanity and even after this crisis, we will need to be able to become friends again. I seriously hope you and the other ukrainian/russian BW players are well and stay like that <3.

No ei vitussa.

Great post and as long as anyone maintains this view in our community I don't see any reason for any negative actions to be taken. Let us all support these people by donating money to charitable causes to help them. Peace and love, death to Putin.
