Really hope that doesnt happen in bwcl too :c That sucks, but I've yet to see a game from you guys where someones lost because of the map. I know Tech visibly complained at the end of his last game, but the map didn't lose him the game - it was super close but in the end he'd just lost too much over the course of the game. Comparatively this map pool is super conservative as well.
The thing about maps is not that they are difficult to play or that players dont know how to play in them. The problem is the fact that is really difficult to find time/partners to practice specific maps, specially when the 2 main team leagues have different map pools...
also top players are practicing for bwcl, stpl, upcoming nation wars, bsl, random tournaments like jeez or defilers... that is 6 different map pools not counting ladder map pool... a little consistency between leagues can only be helpful to the skill and entretainment value of the entire scene.
i understand that for organizers / viewers is mb more fun to have weird shit going on all over the place, but for players is kinda stressful. (unless ure Bonyth and you just stomp kids all over the place no matter the map)

@XenOsky: All of that has been taken into consideration. Just have some trust and patience.

CEST actually ends this weekend, overnight from Sat to Sun. So can you confirm you intend the default time to be 8 PM CET? If so you might want to edit the rules: it says 7 pm CEST there.
|
The time is 19:00 CET, I assume teamliquid code write 20:00 CEST coz we are still in cest, which is the same thing. Reminding to everyone the starting day (27 Oct) is the time change day CEST to CET. About rules, it's a copy paste from last season, thx for the note.

Just a small thought about this map pool issue. Back in the day we had more or less different maps between WGTCL, BWCL, Tournaments etc... but the difference is that on a weekly basis we were playing different maps on ICCUP, which 99% of the time were covering all tournament maps. This is not the case in bnet ladder where we are stuck with a fixed map pool and constantly playing 3/4 maps. And we have an easy example on STPL with the famous 6min curse. That's the main symptom of either 1 of the players not having practiced the map at all, or executing a BO that just doesn't fit the map. (You can see my last game for an example of that :D). Anyway from my point of view, on BWCL you can always train 2/3 maps since at least is a BO3, you don't need to know the full mappool.

Have a great Season everyone. Let's enjoy this !

Atlantis looks beautiful. Cardinal's maps are all FS clones so don't get complain about maps. It's good to have some diversity, getting sick from standard. Wish you guys used maps from very old ASLs too. I miss Camelot.

The map pool is good.
Neo_Sylphid_2.0 - Extremely popular map that everyone is familiar with Eddy- Map previously used on ladder that's coming back for KSL4 Carthage 3- Also used in STPL Clay Fields/Bubbles not FS/CB but some similarties. normal looking maps nonetheless Whiteout - ASL map used in a few other leagues already. Atlantis - Only truly weird map

Hope y'all are busy practicing on Clay Fields ready for this Sunday lol (Clay Fields being the 1v1 map of the week). Please link me any streams and VODs, I want to watch as many games as possible, cheers!

As well as I've explained in the s49 preview topic, it's always hard to predict the next ladder maps.
We have caught a couple!

What happend to that island map from KoK, the one looking like honeycombs, i believe had 'Hive' in name? This map was awesome for its idea.

Beehive (honeycombs, exactly!). People preferred the more standard Atlantis when they had the choice.

That series fischei1 posted above between NaS and iRk has some quality games. Heres the VOD link: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/511395863
For example, in the TvZ between Spx and JY, Vincent says "Wow, I did not see this coming... I mean its unbelievable". The PvPs were fantastic as well. Strongly recommend watching them. The PvZ features 2 Shield Batteries.
Spoilers: + Show Spoiler +PvZ Dragon defending Babo's 2 hat muta. When Zerg kills 4 corsairs and 3 cannons in the main, damages a 5th sair heavily and snipes the 6th corsair as it pops, it could have been a little bit of a hairy situation. Dragon employs a lovely Shield Battery/Archon combo. Ends as a multi-tech game and P on 4 bases. The first PvP with SuGo and Dewalt's dragoons fighting around the hills and chokes was gripping, chasing each other in loops. The early game dragoon micro was intense. Goes to lategame 3 base each. The second PvP is dt expand vs 3 gate obs that also goes to lategame multiple expands. Favorit mines from 5 different base locations and Kingdom secures 4 bases.
And in the TvZ JY puts on a lot of pressure with +1 air armour mutalisks and goes straight into ultralisks with +3 armour upgrades. JY is level pegging in supply count with Spx and snipes the first vessel with scourge. This game shows how strong muta harass can be on Clay Fields. And yet...

Again here is the VOD link of the series fischei1 posted above between pSi and pariah, cast by Vincent: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/515763359
Spoilers: + Show Spoiler +Features a 1 base terran vs zerg game at 1:03:00 in the vod. Also a TvZ on Clay Fields at 1:48:00. I wonder what might have happened if Zerg had taken the close 3rd base rather than 9 o clock as his 3rd. He had 2 lurkers ready and would have held his 3rd base most likely. It would have been much easier to defend the dropships after that too. Looking forward to seeing a rematch between these two.
Evilbringer casts some bwcl here between pariah and iRk: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/515779899
Spoilers: + Show Spoiler +An interesting PvT build order at 37:00 where P double expands after a 2 gate goon, then gets double forge no robo. Protoss royally butchers his pylon walling at the 3rd (check it out its pretty funny). Would be interesting to see this played again with appropriate adjustments. This game features ghosts with nukes by the way.
Also a good PvZ game on Bubbles between Krocan and Threo at 1:32:30 in this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/515261233
