The "All-Star Match" is an event that has been in the BW scene for a long time, and was used as a fun post-season event during the KeSPA era as well as numerous foreigner-only leagues, such as CPL. We are modifying this format to better fit the population of LMaster's Beginner StarCraft Discord (click for invite link). We opened sign-ups for members of the Discord a few weeks ago, allowing players to pick their teammates or sign up as free agents if they wish. There was no MMR cap, but players were asked to provide a screenshot of their MMR page after having played at least 10 games.
There will be minor prizes available for the winning teams, as well as a special mystery gift that will be given out by one of the moderators of the Discord, MrWizard!

Beginner Allstars is more than a misnomer at this point, kind of a shame. When you first took my suggestion for fight nights it was intended to give newer players visibility and something to participate in but once again this event like others before it has turned into some random mid level player (cpl t1) space and there's hardly a newer player in sight.

I didn't organize this event based on your suggestions and sign-ups were open to everyone on the server. I can't make people sign up. Why didn't you sign up? Or better yet, why didn't you organize an event that is adhering to your standards?

New player here (Phy) with my two cents. Love this idea and will participate in next one, this discord is very supportive.
Only reason I didn't sign up is because I've been playing for a week and would have been a detriment to whoever I was paired with _HOWEVER_ stuff like this is what is going to motivate me, as a new player, to get better and participate.
Thanks for organizing it and am really looking forward to you guys duking it out.

No one who is actually participating in the event or in the Discord has an issue with your participation. Don't fret.

I mean Tim is playing as a final boss in the 3v3, I know no one cares haha. This is for fun, it's not a serious tournament. The Korean pro league would get tossgirl to play and have pros off race. It's all fun and games

First of all, I host open play nights that give visibility and feedback. Usually the really new guys don't play, but it's routine to have guys 1100-1500 playing.
These are just for fun tours Jealous organized because it's usually fun for active people to play in something organized. The first one had participation from a variety of levels, from sub 1000 to 1700.
Like the first one, this had open signups. Nobody can force players that don't want to play....to play. I guess to me your post reads like a long winded "well it sucks that really new players don't want to sign up". And sure, perhaps it does. But nothing anyone can do about that.
