I'm uncertain. What is the plan for games for upcoming weeks? Is there a break or..?

Explained this in the captains chat and the announcement on discord but willl post it here also:

Week 7 officially comes to a close I believe. We'll be finding out who makes it to the playoffs for the end of Fridays cast. Stay tuned to learn the Round 2 maps so you can start practicing!

If your team didn't make it to the playoffs, it's not all over yet! There's Round 2 coming up and it'll likely start in about a months time (2 weeks for playoffs) + 1 week break for me. Hopefully you've enjoyed the tournament so far and I hope you continue to do so moving forward!

So to put it simply.

11/05: Playoff Matches announced
15/05: Playoff lineups submitted
20/05: Playoff Semi Finals played
27/05: Playoff Finals played (hopefully live)

27/05: Round 2 first lineups submitted
03/06: Round 2 first week played

Now I'm glad I never train on specific maps, because with my spare time it would take me half a year to learn all of those I don't know at all.

Qikz, this is a great tournament and initiative you are running.

The maps are complete TRASH.

Can we please stop this "OH FS IS BORING. CB IS OVERPLAYED" and stop trying to be hipsters? Truth is, we're all foreigners, we aren't that great, and we need to work on basics.

The best games with solid play will be played on those "Standard" maps where it gives each player a better forum to practice on proven maps. Anyways, I doubt you're going to change it. It's your tournament, you choose and can mandate whatever you want. I've accepted that.

Queue a bunch of low skilled players who are going to come out of the wood works saying

"WE NEED MORE VARIETY. WE NEED MORE ENTERTAINMENT..." People going to start talking about "new strategy" -- ok? Half these people can't even do basic opening builds and going to talk about "New Strategy" as a basis for using new maps. Lol

But I don't feel like arguing it. Everyone's just trying to be a hipster with these non sense map pools nowadays lol

Step 2 - Immediately after compliment, extremely aggressive complaint.
Step 3 - Post long argument about disagreement.
Step 4 - End with "I don't want to argue".

So tell me, how is Qikz or anyone supposed to respond to this comment? After all, you just posted several lines trashing his choices, and now he's not supposed to explain himself? How can any debate happen after that?

SuGo, it's alright to disagree with the map choices, but if you're going to post an argument, you have to leave the person you're talking to some room to operate here. Honestly a lol here.

The maps are already chosen. He won't change it.

That is why there is nothing to argue. I was just posting a rant on the poor choice of maps.

Maybe you should just discuss already maps for round 3.

Also I haven't laughed this hard in a long time reading this sentence:

thinking at the same time about Scan, MisO, Mind, Best and bunch of other foreigners without basics.

I for one think it's really sweet that there's no FS or CB. There are maps I'd rather see and some maps I'd rather not see, but not having FS or CB makes it far more interesting. LT got played out, Luna got played out, Python got played out, FS and CB are played out. I can't remember the last time I saw a build on either of those two maps that I hadn't seen at least 50 times before. I'm not really arguing, just posting a counter-opinion-rant.

Why mock lower skilled players? lol
I'd rather watch a higher skilled player than myself fail a beautiful attempt to something 'new' than watch him successfully execute a rax/fe, turtle to 180/200 on 3 bases and move out at 2/1 mech vs toss while the 1 vessel EMPs the incoming arbiter on FS.

Compared to pros you're never really gonna look good anyway, so that shouldn't be a concern.
And if you don't like the maps, you can choose to not play in the tournament.

The beauty of foreign BW certainly doesn't come from standard play and upsets make things much more interesting imo. With this format and a couple of nonstandard maps a weaker team actually has a chance to win a fight.

Stop complaining if your time is better spent on working on your basics.

(And basics aren't just executing a build order btw.)

Hey you know, if you had argued for Gladiator being part of this map pool, I'd be inclined to agree.

That plays out fairly standardly, it's fairly balanced, and it's not played out. But FS/CB specifically, I'm really bored with.

I can completely understand where SuGo is coming from, when you look at these maps, it will be extremely difficult to transition from playing from the last map pool, to this map pool, also not even taking into consideration a 'normal' practice regimen which would normally consist of ladder because it is way too difficult to get a player at 2k+ MMR in public games on bnet.

I think these maps are interesting / fun, but when you look at a map like Flight-Dream Liner, Troy and Return of the King especially, it makes you realize that this is a little ridiculous for new comers to effectively learn and improve, which is essentially the point of this league.

it is only a matter of time before two players are in a game and one of them kills the assimilator on Troy and realizes the Meta of the game has now completely changed,

And Flight Dream-Liner looks like a bad rendition of that map similar to paranoid android but with bottom left / bottom right positions, what's it called again? lol

But then again, I guess it makes it kind of stale with FS being played every game, but I think that is the best way for newer players to learn and improve.
