As a player I like more new system where you are matched with more equally skilled person and can try to develop your game instead of focusing on winning no matter what. However, it looks like more individual league than team league. How about combining both systems? First phase goes by new system then there will be ranking of players based on their games. Second phase coaches based on results of previous phase games picks players (draft) for their teams and teams start from playoffs? That sounds like a modified version of the ranking tour, and seems like it'd be a good idea if people vote for it! I like ![]() Another idea for combining the two formats, seeing that the vote is 12:7 for new vs. old system, is to have "super teams." For example: Team 1: Coaches: 1 P, 1 T, 1 Z Team: 2 P, 2 T, 2 Z (or whatever the appropriate Coach : Pupil ratio is). Then, these teams follow the new format throughout it. Each team has players that sign up for a week's matches, and then they are coached by their mutli-racial coaches. With 3+ coaches per team, it is imaginable that there will never be NO ONE to play with; many high ranking coaches are familiar enough with the other races, or can become so, and still be helpful to their members IMO.

Do a few months of people signing up/training, playing specific match-ups, then put them on "teams" to compete in the playoffs. Though I think we would have to have an even amount of teams (2,4,8.. etc) as there may not necessarily be a "strongest" or "weakest" team to match-up playoffs wise (unless we match them by highest ranked coach?). We would also have to make sure the teams had an even skill diversity and active players that were committed to playing for the duration of the playoffs.. which could be another problem or something that people might not be able to do every week. But with proper communication I'm sure we could still make something like this work. Nice idea!

Generally looks good to me. The problem I see is it is hard to distribute equal number of players of all races. For instance, I saw T is popular race among active players. Another problem: it is hard to predict if person is going to be active during league and we could distribute passive players into one team and all active to another (I guess problem to any league, any person can be busy because of work or studies). Do I understand correctly that only one player of that race plays? If it is the case then problematic thing can appear, for example matchup is PvX and team has 2 active Protoss players because team wants to maximize their points they will most likely always put their best player and active 2nd best player will not play. Probably last one is not problem because it will motivate 2nd player to improve and players in this league are really helpful to each other and encouraging everyone to play. In this approach I really like that team has coaches of all races.

Having more or less people of each race isn't a big deal as long as they are evenly distributed imo. It should be noted that in CPL, we had 13/12 of each race, and 4 racepickers, meaning that the general distribution is pretty even! Anyway, certainly something to consider and add to a future poll once we get some more feedback ![]()

It seems that CPL may be taking a less serious route hence forth, and although obviously nothing is determined yet, my stance on the matter is that while I had a lot of fun and satisfaction coaching team drag 'n herb, moving forward I want to #1 take a break from the intensity to focus on other things, and #2 I want to coach higher level players if I commit to anything like this again. Im still going to coach drag n herb and If any of you guys come chill in my channel I can give some tips or whatnot, but im not very interested in coaching D ranks anymore, id prefer C, B or higher. Understandable. I know you put in a lot of work/time/effort in helping train your pupils. I'm sure it's a big part of why they found the success they did in season 1! As mentioned nothing has been decided upon yet in regards to a 2nd season. The main points moving forward would be to look at having more committed help on the admin/staff side of things, and to just get a feel for how rankings will work/how to determine what skill level of players would be involved once SC:R gets released and the ladder gets up. Thanks, and no problem, it took a lot of time, but I like how it turned out at the end of the day! ![]() On August 10 2017 21:35 Scaramanga wrote: Coaches, organizers and casters did an amazing job this season of CPL, thank you to all who helped run the league. The scheduled time for games was bad for aus/asia players and it was pretty hard to get a hold of opponents to reschedule. I'm glad you enjoyed the league! Unfortunately there isn't really a time that works for everyone, so we went with what was initially voted on when the idea was first proposed. This is partially why we gave a week to get games played, but we also had to cater to the largest group of players (Europe and North America). Hopefully in the future it will be easier to coordinate times with opponents so everyone can get their games played!
