Welcome to the reboot of the C Ranks Teamleague! This is a league for C ranked players to show off their skills, although anyone from E to B- is allowed to participate, and it has a $250 prize! There is a 7 week round robin regular season followed by a Proleague style playoff with the top 4 teams.
League Format 8 teams, 1 match per week. Teams will play every other team once making the regular season 7 weeks long. Top 4 teams will move on to the playoffs which will be a Proleague style elimination (3rd vs 4th, winner faces 2nd, winner faces 1st).
Match Format Best of 5, no ace match, each set is a best of 1 on a predetermined map. Captains must submit the lineups by Tuesday night/Wednesday morning 24:00 EDT / 6:00 CEST /13:00 KST. Lineups will be posted the following day. All sets need to be played and count towards the set score which will act as the first tiebreaker for playoff positions.
Time and Date Games will be played on Sundays at 15:00 EDT / 21:00 CET /4:00 KST. Games must be played before the replay deadline. First match will be Sunday, March 31st.
PRIZE POOL
$250 - Winner Take All
The prize will be split among the team members according the number of points each player has. Captains start with 2 points. All other players start with 0. Individual players will earn: +2 points for a win/forfeit win +1 point for a loss -2 points for a forfeit loss
Captains can also lose points for the following reasons: -1 point per day for late lineup submission (1st time warning) -1 point per day for late replay submission (1st time warning)
The penalties for captains can stack up pretty fast but at the same time can earn them 2 extra points if they are punctual.
1. Winning team captain submits replay pack to cranksteamleague@gmail.com. Replays must be titled "Set#_Player1_Player2". Also, indicate the result of each set in the email. Replays must be submitted before 24:00 EDT / 6:00 CEST /13:00 KST on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. 2. Captains must PM me the lineups including the players' races and map before Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning 24:00 EDT / 6:00 CEST /17:00 KST. 3. Rescheduling is allowed if both players agree to it, but no later than the replay deadline. 4. 20 minutes grace for no shows (by 15:20 EDT / 21:20 CEST /4:20 KST). If there's a no show players must submit screenshots with timestamp using the /time command. 5. Substitutions: Teams will be allowed up to 2 3 substitutions in the event of a no show for the regular season and 0 for the playoffs, no questions asked. If the sub is not made at least 1 hour before the match and communicated to the opposing team and an admin, the subbed out player will still receive a forfeit loss penalty. After using the 3 subs any no shows are automatically forfeit loses. The subbed in player can't be one of the players already playing a game that week and must be subbed in before the 20min grace period is up. Substitutes must play the same race as the player they are replacing. The sub doesn't have to play their normal race, they can offrace to meet this rule. 6. All games played on ICCup with LAN latency on unless agreed to by both players. Anti-hack is a must. 7. Race changes are allowed between weeks in the regular season but not the playoffs. PM me before lineup submission date to change race. 8. No BM in-game or out will be tolerated. 9. You must play on the ID you registered with. 10. No cheating, smurfing etc. ICCup rules apply.

Since we have 8 teams a round robin would take 7 weeks. If each team plays each other twice that would be 14 weeks. Then we have 3 weeks for the playoff matches. Would players prefer a 7 or 14 week regular season, not including playoffs?

Gonna be lenient this week for team 7 and 8. But try and get all ur teammates together in a skype group, pick a captain and send the lineups in by saturday at the latest.
I would prefer a 7 week season followed by playoffs because that totals to 9 weeks, which for a lot of teams might be as long as they will survive together before they start bleeding players. There's a better chance that people will last 9 weeks than 16 weeks.

I'd also prefer a 7 week season since 4 months would be way too long, but I would also like to play each team twice. Maybe it is possible to play 2 matches per week? And since it is a BO1 per player, 2 games per week should not be a problem.

Sounds like a nightmare organizationally.
Stealth Bunnies also has two more players in the team: sB.Arca(Crema) (C-) sB.Truth (not sure, should be C/C+ though. Need to confirm he's in the team but I'm pretty sure.)

This rule was set in place prior to the possibility of a 14 week season. Even for the 7 week season, I don't think it would've been strictly enforced unless 1 player was ALWAYS on the same map. I'll ask l3g about it.

And what about the playoffs? 3rd and 4th place if they make it to the finals, will have to play 3 matches. Will you set a limit?

I think this rule should be removed. If teams wish to send out a player per map, they should be free to do so. Using such a strategy inherently introduces weaknesses such as being vulnerable to getting sniped. I believe that there is a natural incentive to not send out a player per map.

Your argument is that if there is only 1 B- player they'll be able to play every week, and if there are two they'll both be able to play every week. Not only will this often be false, but in addition there are plenty of active C rank players too, so the B ranks won't necessarily be more active.
I like the idea of only one B- player per week because if you have two per team then you have a backup, but still get plenty of matches per B- player. Having 3 or more of them would mean they don't get so many games, and only one means you have no backup if one can't make it (although of course C level players can still play instead).

This poll comes out at a very bad time when most team rosters have been finalized. If I had known there was going to be only a limit of 1 B- player per team then I would of re-adjusted our team well ahead of time.

This makes no sense, i dunno if ur arguing that often B- players will be busy on saturdays or what, but sayle's point is perfectly valid. Please stop trying to restrict stuff, just let the team play who they want. And ofc the B- ranks will be more active. It's gonna go like this in activity most likely B->C+>C>C- obviously.
I don't get why people would leave a league just because they can't play every week. Just be on the team and play every other week or something, not like you are dedicating so much time to the league that only 1 game every other week makes it not worth your while.
Someone like me who is C rank is probably only going to get to play every other week as well, And if both B- got to play each week I might never get to play.
EDIT: Basically some people on each team aren't going to get any play time at all and a lot of people on each team are only going to get to play rarely. Leaving because you cant play every single week and have a higher rank than others is kinda a douchy perspective. Is your silver rank free time worth more than my yellow rank time?

I know TL is sometimes reffered to as "very strict" but in this case I think it's silly to add more and more rules... The league starts in a few days and still there are new rules coming in?

5. Substitutions: Teams will be allowed up to 3 2 substitutions in the event of a no show for the regular season and 0 for the playoffs, no questions asked. The subbed out player will still receive a penalty and the subbed in player will not earn any points. After that subs are not allowed and any no shows are forfeit loses. The subbed in player can't be one of the players already playing a game that week and must be subbed in before the 20min grace period is up.
^changed to 2 subs for a 7 week season. Will be 4 if we go with 14 weeks which looks likely. Players should try and reschedule first and use the sub only as a last resort.

I think those points only affect prize money distribution for the winning team.
There's points that you see on the standings, that's mostly just maps won/lost points that affect who makes playoffs.
There's points within teams that will determine how the prize is distributed. I've realized it was stupid to track points for all the teams, so I'll just add them up for the winning team once that has been determined.
Icedraco, Darko, and ToKa are all postponed. Darko and ToKa are both playing tomorrow at 20CET I believe, and Icedraco and pono need to arrange a time that they can both make.

That'd be fine if this wasn't called the "C RANK TEAM LEAGUE" (with 2B- players). The argument is that he is better than B-. I don't think anyone cares about playing and losing because the rest of his team still has to win, however, if he's above B- that's the issue.
I know people like Radley made it into BWMN Open Round of 4 up with trutacz, sziky etc. yet he's never got past C+. At that level it's entirely possible for players to take games off B and above yet still be B- or less. I'm inclined to go with the "why not actually play the game and try to get better, ur goal should be to defeat him" thing in this case.
If I had the chance I would play against A/B level players all the time But I don't think they're at fault here, they just are B- level players who are extremely good and iCCup ladder points aren't too accurate...

If you can call them A- i guess, back in the day these would be like B/B- players top most likely. Its hard to judge the ladder now since its rare to go past like C+ or something anyways. and no one really plays at A level anymore

Yeah except that kind of rating doesn't fluctuate really quickly.
I'm planning on taking the spidered information from blueblimp (which he has kindly provided) and reranking it with my Glicko2 system (which is also not volatile) and then add A B C D E ranks which should be somewhat similar in terms of who is in them to the iCCup ranks. It would be pretty easy to use those and require that players have a rating variance of less than, say, 100, which would require them to play at least 30 or so games.

I'm thinking about casting Week 3 CRTL Matches. I have some time off and I want to give back to the community somehow. Although I never commentated brood war games before and I'm terrible at analyzing strategy out loud. So I wanted to know if it was worth it for me to cast these games.

Uhoh...what have I got myself into..I was hoping everyone would go towards - get another caster. I guess I gotta setup this bad boy stream up and learn how to do overlays and such.

It has been brought to my attention that Kiromastikata for Team 8 is almost 100% certain to be Inf3cted playing under a smurf. Admin has been PM'd but so far we have had no response. So there it is, let's get that dealt with.
Next question would be, does the team captain know already, or is Inf3cted just doing it for the lulz and nobody else knows?

Well with inf3cted's poor performance in GC maybe he realized that he is C rank material.

Are you going to cast all matches from league, or just particular ones? If first option, i think you shoudn't jump to week 5 like dRaW when there are still not casted games in week 3, 4 and I guess even 2 ;( .
ill put it on youtube in a sec, but radley tbh I can cast anything they just gave me those reps. I don't follow so it's hard to find which has not been played. I can cast more tomorrow after icc-cl if need be.
It is being. He's allowed in the lineup this week, which also doesn't look good on asmodey. If I had a known smurf on my team, who was breaking the rules, would I be submitting him into the lineup? Hell no, I'd be kicking him out.

Well Team 8 still wants to win the match and I guess the captains reasoning is that he's hoping kiro will be found not guilty :/ that stuff about "innocent until proven guilty"? Evidence has been found against kiro but as no final judgement yet it's a risky gamble idk...
Amazing punishments -- It was great decision first to prevent Kiromastikata instead of iwL-Boom to play in our team and after reverse all pairs he won. A lot of respect for this decision -- Can we recruit some other B- player, or Team 8 must play with specially weakened lineup?
The last week of the regular season coming up will be intense. A lot of teams are very close for that last and final playoff spot and there could be a lot of shifting for the top 3 positions.
Could someone clarify if 2 teams have the same record, for instance, a 4-3 record, but the other team has more +/- individual wins, does that make the team have a better overall standing position? or if that team has beaten the other team in the past in the regular season, or something altogether different that I have not mentioned.
And remember it's proleague format so every position counts. This means it will be 3rd vs 4th place, winner plays 2nd, then the final will be 1st vs the winner of that.

both w/o we waited 40 min++, never got a pm/heads up according to both players.... Nando asked for PP but this was literally 1-2 hours before the match time. ][-][ero will reschedule depending on Nando's availibility, but will take w/o if time does not work due to exam schedules.

He pm'd me at 2 in the morning, so I didn't get the message until an hour before we were scheduled to play. At that point my response would not change anything, and he likely would not see it anyway. We can play our match later this week.
Love the initiative this league had. C-Ranks is way easier to manage than D-Ranks. The players are just overall more interested and play more. Can't wait for the playoffs!

While School of Wala vs CoV still hasnt been reported yet, the playoff teams are already set so captains can start sending me lineups. Round 1 will be 3rd place Stealth Bunnies vs 4th place Avatars of Victory.
The playoff format will be slightly different. The maps will be played in order and the first team to 3 map wins will win immediately. Teams can still choose to play all games at once or play them in order, but any irrelevant games will not count and won't be casted.

Thanks for putting together this league, it was very well-run, and although half of my team never once logged onto skype/contacted anyone at all, I want to thank the others for putting up with being the only 5-6 people who were able/willing to ever fill the lineup. I just wish that we had a little more cohesion within our preparation for matches, as well as wishing that I had, myself, played better during the regular season, and that the season didn't start while crunch-time for finals began for me. I may have been a B-whatever ranker in the past, but I'm pretty much a C- rank at whatever race I use. Sorry to those of you who thought I could be that ace to carry WMGC to victory, I played a lot of bad games but that's fine; this is a fun league and it should stay that way.
It's been a pretty unfortunate beginning to the season; last place, if I recall. But the next 4-5 weeks brought us up to 3rd right before dropping out of the playoff spots. After our close week 7 loss, it came down to the results of other team's matches. Unfortunately, every single team who needed a win/loss took the opposing road towards letting us into the playoffs, but such is life. Good job by everyone who helped us give the wins to make it there, and I once again apologize for not playing up to what may have been expected to me.
Thanks L3g for running this event; thanks to all of the admins who helps coordinate, and thanks to all of the players who helped all of us have a fun 7 weeks. Good luck to all.

After this season I will no longer be running Team Stealth Bunnies. It's been a blast but I haven't got time to continue running it. I hope someone else will step up to run the team, and bring us to the finals next season. Thanks to all the teams who played in CRTL, it's been fun.

Team Stealth Bunnies lost to Team Rocket Reborn 2-3
. The second to last game to be played, which was postponed till yesterday, was sB.XaXo vs the mysterious ][-][ero. Now, ][-][ero is an unknown Protoss player who has never played in any other tournaments that I am aware of. Happily it was discovered a few weeks ago that this player was in fact sGs.BaBo, a current D Ranks Team League player, who has been in previous D Ranks events for well over a year now. Which only makes sB.XaXo's loss to him all the more shameful!
However, the handsome WandS was very suspicious (as was XaXo, who swore the player he played against was uber gosu and definitely not a C- level player like BaBo, but then he lost so that's ignorable ;D) and checked the replay. 400 APM made him suspicious, so he checked against an sGs.BaBo replay. The hotkeys, APM, and action distribution were totally different.
He asked me to help him compare the replays of BaBo that I had with the XaXo vs ][-][ero replay. Indeed, they were totally different. Then he thought of another Protoss player with ~400 APM that had been involved with the C Ranks Team League. Minister! Now, Minister was previously banned from CRTL for claiming to be a C- player when he had reached B- before. He gathered up three more replays of Minister and compared. The hotkey patterns, APM, and action distribution were exactly the same as the ][-][ero replay!
WandS and I were now thoroughly suspicious of this player. I confirmed with BaBo that it was in fact his account: Yup! There's the 25-2 stats he was talking about.
WandS then asked two different iCCup administrators to check the IPs of Minister and ][-][ero's last login. REMOVED AT REQUEST OF ICCUP ADMIN (my bad). Yup! They're the same. So now we have it confirmed that Minister played instead of BaBo against XaXo!
As to how this happened according to BaBo: He was called into work about half an hour before the scheduled game. He didn't want there to be a walkover win so he posted in his team's Skype chat what his username and password were for ][-][ero and told them he had to go to work (he ended up playing a KotH with greenelve and Nagisama for the next hour before leaving for work, plenty of time to play his game...). He actually logged off his sGs.Babo account at this stage, after I messaged him on iCCup asking when he was playing. So he played one game of his KotH, then I messaged him and he logged off that account, and continued with his KotH.
Then SlowBullets, team captain of Team Rocket Reborn, told me that Minister was in their Skype chat (wut why...).
So according to BaBo, his only crime was to post his user ID and pass in the chat group to prevent walkover (still pretty awful). Then Minister saw the username and password and proceeded to log on and play the game vs XaXo.
L3gendary has allowed the game to be changed into a win for Stealth Bunnies. BaBo/Team Rocket Reborn will be in a lot worse trouble if it turns out that Minister also played in the Nando(OD) vs ][-][ero game too. Still waiting on that replay.
I'm pretty disappointed in what happened (even though I'm not even sure what happened), but I have to correct few things from Birdie's post.

SlowBullets said that Minister is in the group, I'm not in it so I can't confirm or deny it other than the screenshot of what he said to me. Would suck if he's implicated too in this, because then there's three cheaters.

I was only trying to cover for my team - didn't want them to receive a W/O loss at a crucial time; if I had missed an already PP'd game I'm sure that's grounds for W/O, or at least I would take one. I couldn't miss work either; it is often that players arrive late to PP'd matches, so there was no guarantee that I'd be able to finish the game and make it to the bus stop. I kept playing the KotH because those were games I could leave whenever without any penalty on anyone else. I know it was a scumbag thing to do, and I have already talked to L3g and I am banned from CRTL. I honestly do feel terrible for the situation; I have played honest games in DRTL for over a year, but like hackers, one mistake can permanently mar a reputation. As I was retiring DRTL after this season anyway, you guys don't have to deal with me anymore, hooray!

My skill has gotten too high for DRTL, I hit 50-29 C this season.

Work called me on an urgent assignment that was not supposed to be mine, and they did so at around 4:15. I'm a tutor and there are times when my company is legally responsible for children's safety, but a person doesn't show up, so it's a major legal issue for us. In those cases, a substitute has to be summoned, and I had to board the next bus to the city where the school was located (at 5:30) to make it in time for the subbed class (at 6:30). I said people are OFTEN late for PP games, and I would not be able to both play the game and make the bus in that situation. Like I said before, I had my team's best interests in mind, but I was short-sighted.
I just want to re-iterate that I am not trying to get unbanned, just to be understood. I still committed a dishonest act, I still fully deserve the punishment, and I am still ashamed and very sorry for the wrongs I've committed to this league of dedicated players and organizers.
Jealous, can you explain why your Skype message was changed from "for 27 cents? easy" to "someone log on for me please so I don't get w/o, I have work".
When Minister was banned, some people on the team thought that it was now impossible for us to win the league. This was the cause of the team almost dissolving immediately after, with Beggar, Puzzle, and Metal[x] leaving the team almost right away. Being the weakest player on the team, the idea came up that Minister would play on my account. This idea was hatched outside of the Skype group as far as I remember. This might be the reason why the team got back together and continued to play games. Before then, I had only once attempted to use the Hero name for CRTL, and that was as a sub for Beggar, a game that never happened anyways.
After giving my account to Minister, I had not logged into the account or had anything to do with the team besides chatting once in a while. Although I had laddered the account myself (L_Master has the rep pack, there are a few reps on repdepot as well), the account was no longer mine at all. Every W/O and game played on Hero's name was actually Minister's games.
Who knew about this? I'm not sure who knew about this besides myself and Minister, who I was friends with in college. It is fact that others on the team knew about it. I'm not going to name suspects because I have no proof.
Why did you photoshop screenshots? I think you may see the pattern here, but I didn't want to give trouble to people in my team who didn't deserve it. I wanted to take the fall for everyone who may be involved, because their knowledge of the issue would preclude them to being banned as well, when really I don't think they deserve a sentence as harsh as mine. I don't know who else was involved in the decision making process for me giving up my account to Minister, but I surely didn't want people who WEREN'T involved to be implicated. On Facebook Minister asked me for my password because of these facts. I told him that people KNEW I was ][-][ero (well, L3g and L_Master did, not sure how anyone else got wind of it but who cares). The reason I told L3g and L_Master was to be honest with them from the get-go at the start of both DRTL and CRTL; in DRTL I sent the rep pack to L_Master so he could gauge whether or not I was too good for DRTL, for L3g it's so that he knew who this random no-name was in his league. I started this league with the intentions of practicing with C players, playing (and probably losing) a few games, nothing more. Otherwise I would never have told anyone that ][-][ero was BaBo.
I don't think I can properly express how sorry I am, and how ashamed as well. I have been an honest player, with no hacks, cheating, or anything of the nature for years in this community. Giving my account was the stupidest thing I could have done, because it makes me a dishonest player. As I said before, I had no intention of participating in any D or C ranks events through Team Liquid anyways (I told L_Master of my retirement well in advance, and I PM'd SynC my resignation from DR All-Stars a week ago), but it's definitely a bitter note to go out on after years of honest play.
So what part of all this bullshit is true? Everything that I posted here, 2Pac's Skype chat screens, and everything that I posted relevant to me going to work. The only additional falsehood that was cleared up in this post was the timing of the ][-][ero account transfer and therefore the duration of Minister's ownership of the account.
TL;DR: I wanted the full blame to fall on me and Minister, not anyone else, so I tried to make it seem like the issue was a new one and not premeditated by a part of the team. Everyone knows the mantra "snitches get stitches." Well, I'm not a snitch.

CRTL Drama, lol. So what exactly is the extent of involvement on their team? It is unfathomable to me that whoever their captain is wasn't involved, especially after reading a combination of Birdie's post and 2pac's. As in, Babo photoshopped a screenshot asking for someone to play for him in their skype group, team captain said that happened and Minister was in the skype group, and then 2pac comes and posts that that wasn't true.

Let me clarify on this matter as well. The only reason that Minister even got banned in the first place was because he lied about his rank stating that he was C- for the league. Then mid season he hits C+, which I would say is his real rank , and eventually B-. He fell down to 52-5300 range after another ~100 games or so and stops laddering for the remainder of the season as far as I know. There have been a few players who were C+ in the league that hit B- at some point/kept the rank (such examples are: munkie, plus, ihufa, me and I'm sure a couple more). Had Minister stated that he was C+, he would have been allowed to play.
It's funny though, so if Minister stated he was C+ from the get-go, he would not have been banned from the league and this whole ordeal of Babo giving him the ][-][ero account could have been avoided. I understand that he shouldn't have said he was C-, but it's kind been unfair that the difference between a - and + takes away his eligibility to play in this league. If minister had said his legitimate rank then he would not have been banned; Babo would have not been coerced into giving his account and none of the team would be implicated. Minister made a big mistake but we failed to see the full picture and as a result there are consequences for our actions.
Again, I am sorry that I failed to fulfill my duties as a responsible captain.

Going by public opinion, it's WandsSL, where Wands is the president and the king. He is the only player allowed to have performances higher than B-, and anyone else is instantly suspect of being inappropriate for the league, regardless of TLS results or otherwise.

I have never seen Minister be higher than B- (or B- at all until 10 minutes ago when the Google archive page was posted in sGs chat), and no inference that he is this SuGo character that I do not know and have never heard of -_-

As I have stated, players such as plus/myself/munkie/ihufa hit B- (some of us lost the rank while laddering, while some of us kept the rank). This is okay, because we all stated our max rank as C+ which was true at the time.

I fully accept my fault and the organizer's decision. In fact I find it to be more lenient than I expected. However, no one should worry, I will not be entering any of the above leagues any time soon (even beyond the 1 season limit).

I share the exact same sentiments. Thank you for this league L3gendary - besides this whole fiasco, I sincerely say I had a blast with the team as I never was in the team league experience. With the aid of this tournament, I improved drastically as well. As for the punishment, I accept, no questions asked - I would not even mind a permanent ban to the league due to my actions.
My apologies to everyone involved, I should not have lied but it was kind of a spur of the moment. BAD decision on my part, I don't know what benefit that could have done...

SJ.SuGo started playing again on March 6 and reached B- on April 21. Before March he was inactive. You don't reach B- less than 2 months after starting to play again if your previous max was C+.
Claiming to be C- is stupid if your max rank really is C+. But if you're B- or higher, posing as an unknown C- draws less attention to you than saying C+ and having people question your max rank. I think smurfing as C- was a calculated decision, not some flash of idiocy by Sugo. If he said his real rank maybe he'd have simply been banned outright.
There's no "ABSOLUTE PROOF", but maybe that's just because he clears stats every season and has other accounts we don't know of anyway. Sugo claimed to me that he was A- max (and apparently has said the same to Metal[x]). I don't trust that either, but I find it hard to believe that your team is incapable of finding his true rank/accounts when he's IRL friends with Babo, you invited him to your team, and he's in Skype with you. You're playing this off like the only reason he was banned to begin with was for being silly and saying C- for no reason, but it seems to me that he knew exactly what he was doing.

Hitting B- during the CRTL season is normally a good thing, suggesting improvement. However, he hit it after playing for only 2 months, which is something not possible unless you've done so before. I'm saying that he was at least B- max in previous seasons as well, which is the problem. His "legitimate" reason for claiming C- is that it's easier to smurf as a C- than as C+ when neither is his real rank.

Take me as an example. I did co-cast with Birdie during bwmn streams, including my own games. You just have to talk about yourself in 3rd person and ignore your memory. They will have to ignore memory only. Very Simple.
