^ I support this. As usual, I'm too busy to participate - maybe once I graduate at the end of winter quarter? Anyway, it is generally understood that for an all-kill league you should have a strategy prepared for each map. It adds legitimacy to the process.
On Babo's paranoia: I think it has its merit and it gives us all a chance to know all the new players and integrate them to the community if nothing else.
Good luck to you all!

My mappool suggestion looks like this -
1.La Mancha 2.Grand Line 3.Longinus 4.Neo Jade 5.Benzene 6.Pathfinder 7.Match Point
all are different so there will be diversity, yet they are not hard to play on so it will be double fun
im serious

This is one of the very few points I will not debate. We can discuss removing at most 6 maps, so it will shrink into 16 maps and have 3 or 4 mapvetos. But I wont go down any lower then 16. Please do not see me as an authoritarian orga (since I let you decide pretty much like everything in this league, beside of this), but as already said I will not remove more then 6 maps.
You can state here the six maps you do not want to see in this league (besides non-removeable maps: FS, Jade, Othello, Ride Of Valkyries [one map per each generation of maps]).
Please now refrain from further convincing me into lowering the mappool any more. If there is no 100% needed change, I will not remove more maps. You can also state if you want 3 or 4 mapvetos.
Also rotating maps in a set maporder will not be done, since the majority did not want it. And besides, this is a real nice factor to have as a teamcaptain. With this option you can still train special maps for special matchups (and even special opposing players).
|
iCCup Andromeda iCCup Circuit Breaker iCCup Destination iCCup Ground Zero iCCup Match Point iCCup Python
are the maps I don't want to see in the league. I would like 4 map vetoes.
Poll: 3 or 4 map vetoes?4 map vetoes (7) 88% 3 map vetoes (1) 13% 8 total votes Your vote: 3 or 4 map vetoes? (Vote): 3 map vetoes (Vote): 4 map vetoes
|
I would just remove Python. I don't really see the point in having Python since it already has Fighting Spirit.
|
Also add preemtive map pool. practicing for 16 maps is total bullshit for a D rank player, who may even not get to play.
|
Im more for having less maps and less vetos... 2 vetos per team makes 4 unplayed maps in totall... for example 8 maps + 4 veto = 12 maps to practice for...

I vote on removing Andromeda and Gladiator.
Gladiator especially. The map was created with one purpose only, to kill Flash. Andromeda is nothing out of the ordinary, but as macro maps I think Colosseum II is more interesting, and having both isn't necessary.
And please keep Python. It's a awesome map that could lead to very interesting games and it's a nice contrast to FS. Who cares if it's common. It's not like you guys still play on it, right? I don't, because it has its own meta-game, which doesn't translate well into other maps, but it's a great map to play for fun.
Anyway, Grand Line SE would be cool.

If I had to vote on 6 maps I'd remove from the pool, it would be: Python Destination Othello Outsider Andromeda Circuit Breaker

Good luck to everyone involved

Personally, if I were to remove 6 maps, I'd remove the following: Neo Chain Reaction - This map is pretty difficult, complex, and PvZ is very very abnormal on this map. Not to mention TvP can be really brutal here as well. Ground Zero - Boring map and very imba. I'd rather have Electric Circuit, Circuit Breaker, or Jade than this map. Longinus - Look at the Liquipedia stats. Crazy imba, and double gas, with modern mech transitions, will kill Zergs so hard. Python - Old map, nearly impossible for Ps to Forge FE, doesn't work with modern strategies. Match Point - I don't like 2 player maps. Heartbreak Ridge - I don't like 2 player maps.

Meh, its your choice. I just know there is no benefit to such a ridiculously large map pool. Even with vetoes you still have 10-11 maps to prepare, when even the highest lvl of players don't prepare for more than 6-7 maps.
Its a nice concept on paper that you try to accomadate for a wide number of ppl with a large map pool, but in practice ...
At best, ppl will generally be annoyed by it. Worse, players may be turned off from participating at all due to frustration

I' d like to vote out the following maps:
Python Blue storm Outsider Longinus Andromeda Chain reaction
|
I want 4 map vetoes and these maps out of the pool: Blue Storm, Chain Reaction, and Destination. As long as we have good teams, players, games, organization, and results tracking I'm sure we can all have a fun event regardless of maps (at least none of these maps are notoriously awful like DMZ, Battle Royale, or Demon's Forest.

By the way, CobaltBlu, L_Master, and myself are planning on running the next DRTL (DRTL season 4) after this DRAKTL, just so that it's officially out there and everyone knows. Nikon is happy for us to do that.
