This instarcraft.de thing isn't working and I don't see the point in weeks off. It took forever to get kal_ra's update on the OP. Lineups are still a big issue, and a kind of penalty needs to be in place but not too severe. You could probably use some help in running this as well.

I could vent my opinion on how you've run this season but L3gendary is more polite than I would have been and has said much what I wanted to say. 4 out of SB's 9 players are SCII players that switched to SCBW or started SCBW after, so there is something of an influx from that. It's also possible that the time of the league isn't good for some people, perhaps? Postponements make that less of a problem though (an example of this being myself; match time is 3am for me but I've been able to play two games through PP and will be playing another in the same way this week too). Is the total number of players significantly less than previous seasons, or just the number of teams? I know several teams have around 10 players each, which would theoretically make it possible to have more teams. We could also advertise it on iCCup more, as that's where the majority of the D ranks players are. It might even be possible to find a korean who also speaks english and arrange a D ranks korean team to play, which would make it more diverse (right now it's almost entirely English-speaking and European players, there might be a lot of Asian players we're missing out on). Regardless, 8 teams is a good number of teams; any less and it would be somewhat annoying but 8 or more is a good number. I do highly recommend that next season doesn't have any byes like this season had, unless there's an odd number of teams. (I believe BWCL.de's scheduling system played into that this season; we shouldn't use it next season). Perhaps we need a break too; it was only a short time between seasons and too much of a good thing makes it boring. Ideally there would be some sort of competition the teams could do in between seasons to keep them together but at the same time give them a break from DRTL.

Also BWCL is actually a really good resource but its just not working out for us :/ On September 09 2012 16:32 Birdie wrote:Perhaps we need a break too; it was only a short time between seasons and too much of a good thing makes it boring. Good idea, but it would never work if it was just up to the teams. I think an organized team-mele game with your teammates would be super fun inbetween seasons... Just have a ro8-ro4-finals. I know itll be really hard cause of timezones but if each team could have at least 2 representatives we could make it work. edit: On September 09 2012 15:33 L3gendary wrote: No offense but I think this needs to be organized completely differently. You guys voted 22 yes 3 no... wasn't implemented -______- sigh. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=349433¤tpage=36#701 edit2: UPDATED Airforce Ace of Spades (1- 1) Team 2 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() pivert never contacted me (more like I had no idea how to contact him lol...) and Essbee couldnt make it this week so I played his set vs coughing hydra. I dunno what were doing about the outsider set. and dunno whats going on for CB set. Since I guess both teams cant fill either we should just give one w/o to each of us...

I'll see if I can whip something up after Wednesday. iCCup ranking is really bad in terms of representing true skill, so maybe I'll even learn how to program a bot that can parse all the iCCup ladder stats and make a true skill ladder, and convince the iCCup admins to impliment it. Looking forward to it Birdie! Although isn't the iccup ranking kinda broken cause of smurfs / koreans / most koreans are actually gone so its easier but not really cause noobs dont play anymore either. #broodwarproblems.

It's statistically broken. Ranking systems are supposed to attempt to display one's true skill at the current time compared to other players. Currently, it just gives you points if you win against people within a certain points distance from you, and takes points from you if you lose. There's no mathematical basis for that system to be accurate; it would be a simple matter to game that system to get A+ or E- if you really wanted to. Whereas, using an ELO (or Glicko2, which is more accurate) system, such as what chess uses, and KeSPA uses, we can have a vastly more accurate ranking that accurately adjusts player points based on the points of the opposite player, in a mathematical way which has been proven to be very good at predicting/displaying skills of players. There's even other formulas which are more accurate than Glicko2, which I could use if I really want to.

The thing about this league is that it's pretty casual. Enforcing rules is... tricky. And yeah, there are less people than the previous season. Not to mention that a team disbanded. It's also pretty much impossible to set up a time that'd be good for everyone, we have representation from too many timezones.

But TBH this season i think you where not present enough to run it smootly. I think a lot of players lost interest because there was not enough organization. I think as well that you need more admins, there are around 60/70 players in the DRTL. I wasn' t enough available last month if not i would have offered to help. For next season i will offer to help do. Thinking back, (at the start of the season i didn' t think so) the AllKill format seems like a good idea, because there is always some members of teams more active then others. This way the problem of lineups is resolved.Just need to declare the first player that is going to play. On the downside less games for all and no PP' s. Another idea could be to have a 2v2 set. The 2v2 community is active and bringing in players from them could be a benefit. Or a 3v3 4v4 hunters. Since its teams, playing with multiple players in one game is a demonstration of how much a team is organized and skillfull. Not to mention it would be pretty fun to cast (and watch) We gotta get creative here while keeping a form. Could also be, instead of 9 weeks, two 5 weeks, with each doing a playoff and the winners playing each other for a grand final. Just pulling out ideas here.

I don't think the league should be made to cater to teams with only a few active members. But most of these arguments have been made before, so I won't remake them lol.

Me and LCC are in contact. We are playing Wednesday hopefully. If not before. The Ender WO is not a WO. Writing a WO without communicating me is impolite. (obelisco) is in recover ATM(as you know) but said he should be able to play in the near future. Lets say if hes still out of commission by thursday, Uround can take his place. (keeps the MU the same). Thats fair. Any probs with that, PM me directly.
