it does damage when it reaches the unit, it wasn't like that before(it had to do the animation too) but it was patched recently that if the charge zealot reaches the hitbox of the unit then it registers as a hit.
cooldown is like 8-10 secs I believe.

Charge is simply the zealot charging when it reaches a certain range of a unit, charging zealot are guaranteed a hit, the rest depends on how well the terran is kiting.

and what was the cooldown? You are guaranteed one hit, even with marauder slow, but I believe that's it. Cooldown is very small in comparison to other spells, zealots move faster in general, but yes they only get that burst of speed + damage dealt at a certain distance.

This isn't true. It will only do damage if it actually catches the target. And it will only charge for 3.5 secs, not infinitely.

It's a hit as soon as the Zealot touches a unit. The cooldown is 10 seconds. It can be manually triggered or left on auto, and most everyone leaves it on auto, and just loses zealots to an occasional zealot on the edge Leeroy Jenkinsing into a factory in front of the army. (If you see a Terran land a factory in the middle of the map, this is part of why they do so)
