JD could've ended this a lot sooner. He could've crushed Really's initial push into center easily with proper flanking. I guess his confidence is still not 100% back from the losing streak. The old JD would have ended this a lot sooner.

A lot of current ZvTs have Zergs using the initial wave of Mutas + lings to surround and kill the initial pressuring group of marines, which reduces marine numbers, delays Terran push, and gives Zerg more poking ability in the Terran base. The bunker makes sure that doesn't happen while still ensuring the MnM are out in the middle of the map, pressuring Zerg into making Sunkens. It's actually a very cute idea.
Considering that flash did the EXACT same build and mid map bunker against Jaedong not to long ago. Except flash decided not to defend when jaedong attack and countered instead. Reality choose to go back and defend, it was an interesting choice. This new TvZ trend is interesting :D

O_o it's not like the center bunker covers all the middle of the map... Zerg can do the same but has fewer positions for it... and I think for the Zerg of Jaedong's caliber it's not a big problem.
Bunker gives increased range + extra health for Mutaling to eat through. It makes fighting straight up with Mutaling in the middle of the map not a viable option as that woudl incur too many losses.

has there ever been a game where this worked? It seems like a really dumb idea tbh. Zerg can choose to just not engage.

but why the heck they would fight NEAR a bunker?
they can just catch marines where bunker doesn't reach. For example - near the bridges out of terran's base (from the middle's side of them)
