I can't believe after weeks of hyping myself for this matchup I missed it live. Thanks moktira/nevake for uploading the VODs so quickly. Glad to see Flash showing beastly TvZ once again. Finals should be epic.

Hydra vs Bisu
Sea/Light vs Great

Flash and Zero should work together to make this as Hydra's group for next MSL, ensuring Bisu advancing to the next round and pretty much eliminating the zergs in this group.

Even though Hydra got owned, I was quite impressed with the strategy he prepared in set 2. The only real mystery to me was why he didn't take the third gas sooner since he already secured a 3 base econ much sooner. Since he was going guardians, that earlier third gas could facilitate a hive tech much smoother and more comfortably.

But either way, he had really poor muta control in both set 1 & 2, which warrants to me that Flash was simply the better player.

Gosh, such rape almost makes me feel sorry for Hydra.
Hoping Zero makes for some better games and pushes Flash a little.

I really hope Zero can give Flash a better run for his money. The good thing is he has Light as a practice partner now + I guess he has these semi-final games to analyse. Although these days Flash changes his play around a lot in TvZ so I'm not sure how much use it will be.

It was quite obvious that Hydra had no real overarching strategy. He is more of a tactician than a strategist, and that was one reason he lost- because Flash is great at both tactics and strategy.

Hydra practiced with Light too. Just sayin.

It wasn't that even. Hydra never had the economic advantage later in the game, and Flash always had the bigger army, though sometimes out of position. So a final engangement was bound to be a lost cause for Hydra.

This is very wrong, Hydra had the much greater economy for almost the entire game until Flash's mass eraser effectively shut down 2 running bases.

starcraft is a game that changes a lot, flash mission in game 2 was to shut down expansion and, hydra at some point had the advantage, but flash did the eraser trick and hydra didnt have enough scourge to bring them down, imo hydra is a very good zerg but he misses little things, that make a zerg like jaedong great.

man flash is so good though.. loved watching those games, he's such a boss.

I am actually really curious to see how zero fares, being another good zerg.

can't wait!

Things dont look particularly good for Zero. The last 20 games he played was almost exclusively against Zerg. This might explain his victory over Jaedong. Even if he's playing his zerg teammates, things dont look so swell because nothing teaches a gamer like real games.

That said, I wont mind if Zero wins. He seems like a very nice guy.

The build Flash used in game 1 is super interesting. Hydra wasn't ready to break the pre-defiler push...

In game 2 I was sure that Hydra will win. But he lost mainly due to (relatively) weak defiler play and poor multitasking. Flash was in loads of troubles in the mid game. When Hydra got 4 bases and after the dropships failed miserably I was sure that Flash will lose. But he managed to pull it out due to the factors mentioned above.

In game 3 I thought it was even till Hydra lost 5 lurkers for just a couple marines. And then extra 2 lurkers for nothing. After that he just didn't have enough army to stop Flash who could split his army to stop the 4th and launch the attack for the nat..

In game 2 the eraser trick and the fact that Hydra allowed Flash to build up a huge number of Science Vessels get him back in the game. He destroyed all the drones on 2 of Hydra's bases and that's why he didn't have enough Ultras and the attack was postponed a long time. Also the drop place for Hydra was quite horrible. He lost half of the Overlords to turrets. A frontal attack on Flash natural would have been better. At least he would have killed some tanks not only turrets and depots...

I'm super wondering what prevented Hydra from just killing the VERY small (2 rax build!) group of m&m with muta+ling when they left Flash's base (game 1).

JD vs. Sea, JD vs. Flash were the games where terrans lost their first small group of mm, that was small due to early tech (ebay in that case). Zerg just walked to them with muta+ling and demolished them.

Why hydra couldn't do the same?..

imo what killed Hydra particularly is that he didn't realise the difference between flash and mind, lol

Flash is quite a particular player. You need special tactics vs. him, and probably all vs.Terran tactics needs to be somewhat reviewed, mostly in theoretical sense yes (because, what practice there could be, if there is actually only one flash, lol, all zerg can't practice with him :DDDD ). Maybe you always need to count on the maximum possible terran micro and best decisions and rely on luck less. For example you shouldn't fly above +1 range marines with your mutas on open place and hope to pick them off. It's suicide - marine has 5 range, muta 3. With close-to-ideal micro they will just kill your mutas with almost no loss. Flash's micro was good - so he lost almost no marine and hydra lost many muta. -__-

which is why Zerg Progamers need to figure out that burrow nullifies such Eraser tactics..........
