Welcome back.
Just like ty2 wrote, it's not outdated if you can do it properly, but it might need some adaptation. Depending on how long you've been away from BW, you might be surprised by the a common TvZ build that is +1attack 4/5rax to fight the mutas aggressively with a lot more (upgraded) marines than before. As I understand it, some T discovered that if you get that +1 super quick after your 1rax expo and then add 3 or more rax, you can build so much bio (with early +1) in time that it can just shut down the muta-aggression (by strong pressure on natural or 3rd) and possibly cut/delay turrets for a long time. Also overall, as the bio-production-rate is so high, it's easier to build army for defensive purposes and just throw a lot of cost-effective bio at Z at any point in the midgame.

if youre on fighting spirit and you took a nat as your 3rd, then your 4th should be going up after your 5th hatch, den and evo go up. youre going to be relying on sunkens and zerglings to stop the first (and maybe second) zealot push that comes. by the time the 3rd push has come with zealots, maybe archons and dragoons, you should have a running 4th, hydras and lurkers if you took one of the side expos on fs then you may want to wait to make a decision depending on how the game is going. its near impossible to defend your 4th at the same timing as above if you took your side expo.

After progamers win their matches on their streams they always say that one phrase, it kind of sounds like shoya simmidad. I'm guessing it means "gg?"
Also, Bisu and Larva always play that one rap/hip hop song with one guy singing on their stream anyone know the name of it?

Sugo 수고하셨습니다 which pretty much means gg/thanks for the game/good work.

Is this really what they are saying? Not a short form of it? To my untrained ear it sounds much shorter, more something like SO-es-mida.

Someone earlier asked if BW operates on real time or Blizzard time.
The timer in the campaign that I just played definitely operates on Blizzard time. However, I think it has to do with what game speed you set.

can anyone explain unit positioning in mid/late game TvsP. When I move out at 200 my army gets always crushed way harder than it should (even with bad/non stasis) just by getting too many zealots into my tank line too fast.
|
Without replay it is always hard to guess, but the following list could be a reason (if spell casters are not your problem): 1. You have too many SCVs, making your army smaller than it should be, around 60 is good number I think. 2. Use your whole army. Only leave like 2 tanks at your third, which should be walled. 3. You should always scan ahead before you move, if you see him charging you only in normal vision range of your unsieged tanks, you can gg. 4. Mine your flanks, but not in the direction you are going, if you push over a mine field and he charges you, you can also most likely gg. 5. Don't waste your vultures. If he charges you, don't leave your vultures in front of your tanks, pull them inbetween your tanks and then let them shoot. Otherwise the dragoons and tank splash just kills them very fast. 6. Scan in intervals, that the units are consistently visible during the battle.
|
Also, try to not have your tanks be perpendicular to the enemy army. What that means is if you are pushing from 10 to 8 on Fighting Spirit and he is coming from 8 up to meet you, you don't want to have a vertical line.

Will Broodwar ever be patched again?
|
Most likely never, but it's possible that there'd be a graphics patch so the game works on newer versions of Windows. Definitely not a gameplay patch.
|
maybe some interface patches, or bnet updates. But the last balance patch was in 2001 if I recall correctly
|
Is there a way to watch replays in old patches without having to keep logging back out and in all the time?

Would someone agree that Terran is somehow slightly stronger than zerg and zerg is slightly stronger than protoss in overall statistics? As well as championships won wouldn't it be Terran,Zerg, then protoss in order of most championships won by them races?

I agree with the graphics patch as well as definitly fixing some glitches with units like dragoons for sure.Which would make protoss better if it's possible I mean.Maybe if someone(Blizzard??)would also fix some reaver bugs dealing with the scarabs they shoot out. There is also several other glitches that should be addressed. This also all falls into gameplay changes but other than the glitches and some slight fixes too hit points and building hit points for all races everything could be tweaked slightly too somehow balance better.I would need some help too look into it but someone or me could look into it.Someone that is smart at math and science could figure out how truly balanced each race is proportionately to the other races.

Look at the racial statistics. They ARE balanced, enough to not warrant rocking the ship. Doing stuff like fixing Dragoon pathing and scarab connectivity would upset that balance. In SC2:BW, Scarabs have ~100% hitrate (or used to, when I played it a few years ago). Do you know how broken it felt? Part of the reason why Dragoon micro is impressive is because they are retarded. Part of the reason why Reaver targetting is impressive and scarab dodging is viable is because the scarabs are retarded. Part of the reason why Carrier is viable against Terran is because Goliaths are a pain to get up and down ramps. These are factors that make the game harder, and thus separate a bad player from a good player from a great player (not claiming these are the only factors, obviously).
There is absolutely no need to forcibly change any of this for every player. If you want a squeaky-clean, noob-friendly, streamlined BW, play SC2:BW. Don't change BW's balance because you have trouble controlling units.
