It depends on what type of 2 gate. With proxy 2 gate, it's a good idea to cancel core and get your 2nd gate up. Stop mining gas completely. When you start mining gas again depends on when you feel safe. (i.e. when you have enough zealots to stop any aggression) If you aren't supply blocked you should be able to make a zealot as well at 15 supply. Position them both so that they're close to the top of the ramp. Later on with your additional zealots try to create an arc so that 3 zealots hit 2 zealots going up the ramp. The above only really applies if you scout their base first and see nothing otherwise you won't have time to cancel the core. If you scout middle first you will be cancelling your gas and doing something similar to the above. If it's 2 gate in base you can do the same as above or do this. Delay your core for a bit and get the 2nd zealot out first before making core. Get a total of 3 zealots before starting goon production. You want to have 2 or 3 probes behind your zealots for more damage since you stop making zealots and you don't want to trade zealots evenly or you will have a hard time when your own zealots die and it's their zealots vs your goons. If you really insist on keeping that core then you to have to pull a lot of probes and make a shield battery to hold. You also need fairly good micro.
