Dropships are my favourite unit in the game. They are great. Look cool, and lots of sexy micro can be done with them. My only problem is I cannot figure out how to do a spread drop.
A spread drop is when you have multiple dropships, lets say, 5-6. Its where your dropships are moving, and all dropping units at the same time, while still moving across the base. Therefor having the units spread throughout the main. I have seen this in many vods. Watching NaDa unload 12 dropships worth of units while the dropships are still moving is amazing.
The only way I can seem to do this is by binding each ship to a key (1,2,3,4,-0) and cycling through them and clicking repetedly on the wire frame pics. This method is sloppy and inconsistant. How do you really do it?

Unload on itself
You can also unload from ALL of your dropships at the same time with only one click - just unload in the center of gravity. ie in the exact center of the group. It's hard, but it can be done  I prefer the safe way.

Yeah, what he means by "center of gravity" or the center of us units can be explained with simple shapes so you get the idea.
Let's say you had two dropships. To drop all at same time, you would click unload directly between them while the dropships are still moving.
If you have three, and they are in triangle formation, click in the center of the triangle while dropships are still moving.
Etc etc but it gets harder as you get more dropships and they aren't in perfect formation. Just go to single player, use cheats, and just practice it.

hmmmm. I think I understand. So thats why NaDa kinda positions his dropships before he unleashes hell. Ok so I form them up, and click unload in the center of them. Is this kinda like a glitch? Im going to go and practice now.

select them all, bind them to a hotkey then press the key twice so that the screen centers then unload in the middle of the screen

there's some way to do positioning for dweb too, and maybe other applications we dont know yet? it's strange, this center of "gravity" thing

you select 5 templars that are spread out, you press on the ground and all templars must be in range of where you click, and it will create a huge psistorm ;o
It's risky though.
Safest way to unload multiple dropships at the same time while they're moving is to press "u" and click on the dropship. Do that with each dropship.

oh d-web will probably not work that well because its range is pretty limited

dweb is actually the easiest thing to do like that.. all you do is set them up in formation, then target them all on the mini map, and they'll go spread on the map perfectly. You can keep targetting on the minimap to get the spot perfect if you want

spread storm also works if you do it on the minimap instead of on the screen

I'm very certain that nada does it by very quickly selecting individual dropships, pressing U and clicking on the dropships... That's where 350 apm pays off :D

But on alot of NaDa's VODs He just went in with 4-8 dropships and unload it all while moving without stopping for formation...

I'm sayin he can't do it everytime, he mighta done it a few times, but it's too bloody risky, what if you miss >_<! Especially in like tourney finals, since oh so many recent ones were TvT..

This might be the easiest one but according to what i saw in nada fpvods he clicks in the "gravity" as others mentionned cauz he always separates his dropships to have a better "sight" of the "center"

Anyway so much better i tried ur tip but it's still kinda hard u must micro them very fast w/ more than 3 dropships don't you ?

glue a small black dot to the exact center of your moniter or something like the CS players do.. haha eventually your hand will be able to find "exact center" by itself

I tried doing the unload with one dropship, but what is the point of it? When I did it "sucessfully" it basically unloaded them, but only one kept going (Tried 3 dropships full of zealots), for 3 dropshpis or less isn't it just a lot easier to u click on dropship? I'm not that great at terra vs terran so i guess this skill isn't key to me but what happens when u do u "center gravity shit" click on middle of dropships?

it is NOT a hard thing to do. even I can do it consistently (and i'm barely average player). just dont click too fast. to be safe make sure the units are within range of your screen because it is the easier to judge where the middle-front of your units might be.

lol, it's not the center of gravity... It's the geometric center of the formation of your dropships, which is why this gets hard to do when you have a bunch of dropships flying in an odd pattern.

That still didnt help me, am i supposed to click in middle of my units in minimap, in ground, or the middle dropship, or where?

In boxer vods most times when dropping metal (+4 dships for sure) que takes some sec/s to bind each dship to a hotkey...scan, send them there and circle thorugh dships while clicking frames....seems the safest way (or else press U on each dship)
If i were on a tv game i wouldnt go for gravity drop... specially if you can get stormed or tanks splashed , or we

probably.. you're better off just telling each of your dropships to unload onto itself while in transit

Alrighty, I took it upon myself to make jpegs of this.
In the before picture, I put a red dot showing where you click to make the drop spread out(center of gravity for that particular drop). The after picture is just what it looks like when done correctly.

Yea thats the way most people do it. Just practice with it alot to get faster and faster, than u'll be dropping like Nada in no time

yeah, i saw a VOD, XellOs vs i dont remember @ Paradoxx When Xellos have lots of dropship he used this method. Yes yes yes XellOs 350+ apm

Its easy for me to use the "center of gravity" method with two (side by side), three (triangle) or four (square) dropships, but with more than that, I cant do it.
Whats the best "shape" for five or more dropships? Circular? Square? Rectangle for six? Triangle? And does the shape have to be as close to perfect as possible, or even a rough imitation will do? Like in the shuttle jpeg above, it isnt a perfect square.
I'd LOVE to be able to do that with 8-10 dropships.

i dont get the storm and corsair dweb thing what is it suppose to do? is it any bigger? cant you just do one by one or is the storm and dweb lasting longer if you do it that way
