<_< what? I can't use html codes in forum posts =( I mean the .pdf you linked to (the guide) looks like it was formatted in LaTeX. Am I correct? yes, sorry my question is what else would I format it in? MS Word? I suppose that was a possibility

Good noob guide. Should be stickied or at least linked to in a sticky.

This. Put into recommended threads maybe?

lolol Latex! Good stuff, should use it for sc decal here hahaha

Yeah it should go in the recommended threads for sure. I think the game lacks a modern guide for starting out.
A few things I'd like to mention though:
- You mention having 7-0 as hatch hotkeys late game, I don't want to get into a Zerg control discussion but basically no one uses this. 5-0 all the way through the game is the most common. - For macro I think many players see how many Barracks/Hatches the progamer uses and just use that as their number, mention how you're not anyway near progamer level and there's nothing wrong with using way more production buildings, as long as you're aiming towards the goal of what the progamers use.
|
Something that maybe should go in basics is that every building should be built with a purpose. A LOT of newer players will make second/third gateways much earlier than they need to. There's no point spending 150 minerals on something if your economy won't let you use it for the next five minutes. It is skimmed on during point two, but I feel like maybe it deserves its own point.

I didn't read all comments, or the guide, so sorry if this is out of context. I just wanted to add that i'm pretty new and I learned the game pretty quick out of playing it out abit, then watching a ton of english commenteries to pro games. If it's not in there, then maybe it should be ^^

this guide is really good, im just starting to play this game, and there isnt much help/information on teamliquid.net for new people

Can't believe I missed this the first time around, and the sexy sexy formatting it has.

This guide isn't extremely long. I think its the perfect size to describe everything a new player needs to know about the fundamentals of Starcraft without going too deep into any individual topic. Great guide for newbies.

As i recall, there have been so many arguments over f2f3f4 keys. In each and every one of them, the fact that you should use them with your bases has been proven right. People shouldnt use them for macroing and i think you should change that, if people start using them for bases instead they wont have any hard time relearning them
These arguments pertained more specifically to Terran and a bit less to Protoss due to the impact of scarab shots on workers. For zerg using F2F3F4 for hatches and rally is fine.
