Hey I've noticed after most of my brood war games my hands get cold. This is really annoying and seems to slow me down some what. I try to keep the room I play in warmer then average. Does anyone else have experience with this?

My hands get colder too but only after the first couple of games. When my game count goes up to 4+ then they get warmer and stay warm. You may want to consider wearing a sweater/jacket when you start playing, it certainly helps.

kewt...

when i play beyond a comfortable apm or when stressed my hands get cold and abit shaky... its probably due to stress. take a break after each game and dont push yourself too hard over a game.

unless you're a progamer....

i used to get cold hands too, i think it was because of the way i used to sit before, really laid back with my arms resting on the edge of the table. I think that caused the bloodflow to be slightly obstructed and thus made my hands feel colder. Maybe you have the same problem?

i also have that during winter, but not during summer

wash your hands with really warm water between games, so the blood keeps flowing, that usually helps

or you could buy one of those fancy hand warmers, but i think it's a waste of money

Cold hands are most likely because of the blood flow. You should do some minor physical excersizes with your hand (like pinching hard on something soft) every other day and you'll lose that problem totally. People that work out regularly don't often times have this problem. Let me state that I am currently not very physically active so I use this method aswell

My hands seriously go freezing sometimes when I play. Its kinda weird but really only happens in the colder months (makes sense eh). I usually take a hot shower to warm and relax them :D

it just might be the way your hands are elevated and how like upwardly bent your wrists are.

This and make sure you sit properly.

Had this problem until just a while ago, but now everything's fine.
If you have a good reason to disagree with the above, please tell me. Thank you.

yeah winter time my hands gets old becaus I have bad micro circulation...
But another big reason is sometimes you get tense/nervous, and that makes it bit more pronouced.
So i guess just stay relax and play the game? :D

I used to have this problem until I moved my keyboard to the edge of my desk. This makes it so that I can't rest my weight on my wrist, and it stops any blood flow problems. Listen to Day[9]'s podcast on mechanics, it may help you solve some posture or hand position issues.

I used to get cold hands before during "important" games like CWs and NWs but never beside that except if the room was way to cold. So I think its possible to get cold just because you are nervous.

This.
Don't get your hand way too high compared to your elbow. Otherwise your blood will have a harder time to circulate through your hand, resulting deshydrated hands.
Get a chair where you can rest your elbow on and don't get your keyboard way too high. Eventually cut those little "legs" below the keyboard.

What kind of self respecting male complains about their hands being cold?

Unless you're outside in the winter, there's honestly no excuse.

Also, you probably have swine flu, so I'd get that checked out.

I just do some exercise like burpees.... warm up your body and the flowing blood should warm up your hands

or you can go run your hands under warm water

Make sure to give yourself a stranger after sitting on your hands for 3-4 minutes. Should increase the blood flow...

Carpal tunnel or similar repetitive stress injuries cause a weird "numb" feeling that can feel like cold. You might want to get checked out for that so you can deal with it before it gets any worse.

I'm a pianist, and yet I find myself with surprisingly little to say. I'm not completely out of tricks tough.

1. Are you nervous? If you feel tense, your hands will probably get cold.
2. Obviously, how cold is the air around the keyboard? Are there any air drafts? Maybe there's an air vent nearby? Dressing a bit warmer helps if the room is cold.
3. Try running your hands under warm water for a minute or so.
4. If you tried running warm water on your hands and your hands get cold very fast even though the room's not too cold, then your circulation might be a little bit weak. I know of a few solutions within the range of alternative medicine, but I think I'd be getting off-topic to discuss it here.

Well, I think that's all I have to say...I'll edit if something comes up.
