The reason is that because 1.16.0 is buggy and causes laggs on the Battle.net

Lol the title is awesome enough to merit it being left open. "Kespa: We gonna still using 1.15.3"
But Kespa, what about all those zerg mineral hackers in PL?!?!?!

keep this open! I find it fascinating!
here, you can use this to make the op longer:
========= In breaking news, the korean e-sports association, also known as KESPA, has made a shocking announcement that they will continue to use the old 1.15.3 patch. This is surprising news as the latest 1.16.0 patch has been just released merely hours ago! This stunning denial and outright face palm to blizzard by the korean progaming community shows how, though we all appreciate the hard work and diligence the blizzard patching team puts out, their patches still have a long way to go before being of great quality and worthy of any hype.
Of course that is the patching business, and as Ellen DeGenres said in a totally unrelated comment, "I was coming home from kindergarten--well they told me it was kindergarten. I found out later I had been working in a factory for ten years. It's good for a kid to know how to make gloves." Likewise, we should be thankful for honored community members and genius programmers such as (i don't want to name them because I'm probably going to forget someone important) that have brought us all the coolest gadgets and brood war add-ons, along with anti-hacks in our never ending battle against those who cheat.
In conclusion, I'm really hungry and Honey Nut Cheerios haven't been helping to satisfy my midnight hunger.

No reason to close it because we have people here that'll probably want to talk about it. I mean, I'm not one of those people, but still.

I wonder if its also because of the saved chat issue. I'm sure the B.net lag shit doesn't even matter as they all use LAN and not battle.net for practice (90% of the time anyways).
PS- this is why 2nd post said close.
|
im happy that kespa is not a blizzard puppet that means good things may happen in a close future

This is the first time maybe KESPA did something right? Do they have any data/proof to back this claim of lag on LAN?

Jesus does blizzard even test their patches? seriously how can you oversight some huge shit like this? B.net is so laggy now- not even just in games, just browsing profiles and crap is totally choppy.
There is the issue with anything u write on b.net that has an R as the second character makes it try to reply to last messenger too.
I don't see any lag in single player or in a rep though.
|
ok, sticking to 1.15.3 thanks for the heads up..glad i didnt update.

the new 1.16 features look nice, but I won't take a chance with lag.

Having a glitch right now where im in lobby, can see host talking but not 2nd slot. They can't see me or can't see me type or something.
even in game we couldn't see each other type slot 2 and slot 4. Both could see host type and he could see us type.
|
Did they possibly change b.net ports or something?
|
ahh well they will fix these bugs within days kespa could be using 1.10 for all i care , wasnt that the last patch with actual gameplay changes? might have even been 1.09 when was the last time a bug changed the outcome of a pro match?
|
When the drone death of a cancelled hatchery caused crashes (this only started happening after an attempt to fix a different bug).
It's really nice of blizzard to continually support such an old game, but honestly they're doing a poor job.
|
Damn it, I just updated to 1.16!
Hope they'll fix this soon

Not to mention with the new patches the replays simply bug out...like why is there event a patch?

Don't remember which one is older but the bug that would happen when an arbiter was made in TvP the terran's tank would become invisible and the game would crash, that was so weird and hilarious.

Well, the purpose of saying that wasn't to spite KESPA to make them seem closed to new ideas or anything. I agree with the decision wholeheartedly. It was to note that SC2 will not be anywhere near ready for competitive play at anywhere near the level of SC for years to come (if then).
|
that is not necessarily true, and its far more complicated than this situation. as far as kespa cares the only variable between 1.15.3 and 1.16 is in game lag. you can choose to have lag or not, they chose not.
alot more to consider with sc->sc2.
|
come on Idra even u said that its not suitable for esports atm and ppl at cj house arent happy with it. Even forgg said that hes gonna stick with bw.
|
at the moment did i miss a press release? sc2 coming out tomorrow?
|
not that laGGy and its playable, on bnet, at least for me. i dont care. rwt owns.
|
My experience: - In the bnet channel, the interface loads parts by parts. Now it's a bit annoying but i'm willing to take that trade-off for the <100% CPU consumption, as it doesn't affect the game play and the functionality... - In game: OMG, it's CPU-lagging as hell. My mouse cursor often got stuck for 0.2 second then suddenly revert back to normal. Very annoying and so hard to micro.
EDIT: yes, I updated to 1.16 , was so excited.. but fail
|
Hopefully the iCCup coders see this and don't update the AH until these bugs are fixed.
|
Why why savior was waiting for this patch the lag will make his macro a move more powerful i see every protoss 2 gating for supreme power haha a move power
|
playing iccup then switching to bnet actually made me laugh. and without chaos, its not even worth playing.
|
I'm not getting this until icup updates ^^

Replays don't work for me.
I cannot toggle the speed (not faster nor lower). It shows all text ingame, even /f m which my opponent received.. I never saw that in game.

Forgg sounded like he was done with gaming once he was done with BW. Several WC3 players seem to think the same (ie "yeah, I'm quitting once WC3 is done for").
All this being said, anyone remember how Boxer was asked in an interview if he'd switch to WC3 once it came out, and he replied something along the lines "Of course, I'm a professional, I'll play whatever is the most popular"? Pre-release statements dont mean THAT much.

so the end for me is pretty close at least i can say i lived in brood war age

Oh well. Sounds like KESPA can back this up rite? Just get Blizzard to look into it and fix it. Shouldnt be too much of an issue to fix rite? A few weeks?

I think boxer meant though that if StarCraft kind if died out he would switch to wc3, but he would play sc as long as it was still a game that made sense to play professionally or w/e.
Just arguing minor deatils though, you're right. Pre-release statements don't mean much.
Back on topic too: About the patch... I havent downloaded it yet. I want to just for kicks though to check out this lag.

That's not really a valid example.

if you think about it, there's really no reason for them to switch. they don't need to worry about hacking in professional games and the other aspects of the patch aren't really anything worth upgrading for...
I wish blizzard could have at least condensed the last two patches into one patch... I mean 1.15.3 was basically useless and then finally when we get chaoslauncher and iccup upgraded they release another one...
I mean the new patch is nice and all, but honestly there's always going to be hacking and while the other aspects of the patch are cool, I don't think it is worth the inconvenience it is causing...

more power to kespa
fight the crappy patch institution

i think the reason the new patch created lag, is that it is tied into that feature for optimizing cpu thingy...
