I'm pretty sure they've said that they will host some tournaments and do other stuff than just commentary with that $$$, but I guess not, hehe.

Are all of their viewers like S-ranked brood war players or are they more like me: F ranked brood war played < 100 games in my life ~3000 MMR sc2 played < 1000 games in my life just really enjoys watching starcraft and starcraft 2 -- it's a cool game and the high level strategies are fascinating. I'm not hating on Nyoken's commentary either, both channels are good imo. Obviously Tastosis is less technical in their casting, but this can be a plus for someone like me. Not saying you need to like it, but idk why you are surprised at how popular they are unless you think that most viewers are actually super technical.

Come on, Tasteless can explain that workers mine minerals, zerglings attack and toss needs to build pylons only so many times.

I think a lot of people watch Tastosis to be entertained by their banter. I got a friend who only watches Tastosis and that's his reason. He won't even check out StarcastTV, which is a shame imho. But he says he doesn't need all the extra info, he sees what is happening and that's enough. The cast is just for entertainment and he likes what Tastosis deliver in this regard.

I think it's good to have a cast that maximises "listenability" and another that maximises "game knowledge at the highest level". I'll never understand people who hate on either.

I've watched quite a bit of StarcastTV and enjoyed it, but Tastosis are undeniably talented at casting even if their game knowledge isn't like, the top top tier. Artosis has a lot of active ladder experience to quote from and recently, Tasteless at least talks like he's been laddering more too, lol. It's not like they're scrubs or something. Absolutely, I love both sets of casters for different reasons. Tastosis have been the soundtrack to one of my most beloved hobbies for over a decade, it’s like watching the big game with your buddies at the bar kind of vibes at this stage. Nyoken + whoever is great too. It’s one of the regrets of my life that I never stumbled upon this site and the wider BW scene beyond thoroughly enjoyable casual play when I was a youngling! I’m too old with too much going on to be able to learn the beautiful game nowadays, but I still love learning about all its intricacies

I often find tastosis do have interesting things to say and can b superior in terms of analysis to nyoken and gypsy, depending on the matchup

I've been doing mostly Starcast for the last 2 ASLs because they come out faster and their quality of casting has improved (audio and skills-wise) SO MUCH over the last 2-3 seasons*. Nyoken is a gem. Just wish that eonzerg got to cast with him a bit more (at least during zerg MUs lol, NEED A ZERG CASTER FOR ASL ONCE IN A WHILE). Gypsi is a great co-caster though. I love tastosis, but I stopped subbing to their patreon after they casted that saudi tournament last year. And kind of crazy how they never really cast anything outside of ASL despite taking so much money from their patreon during the off-season? I get that they make more money streaming twitch but I wish they were able to cast some proleague games or something.

I'd rather give my money to Asl English than netflix. We are truly blessed to live in an era where we can directly target and pay for niche content that we want If you have a problem with the Saudis make sure you never pay taxes in the USA, American government is way more responsible for propping up their autocratic monarchy and genocides than fucking dan stamooley and Nick Classless plote I agree with you that it would be nice for them to cast other stuff. Isn't there some sort of StarCraft university tournament that the pros are pretty hype about?

Is it worth the wait? To me usually it isn't, to plenty of other people (who may not even watch ASL otherwise) it is very worth. Even I have sometimes rewatched a game with Tastosis cast to hear their take on it. While I would LOVE to have more Zerg players casting #More eOn, (for Terrans and Protosses both Tastosis and NyPsy) the ASL casting I've seen is not that anti-Zerg or unfairly skewed. Personal streams... Another matter haha

I’ve seen them both cast the odd pro replay individually on their YouTubes so it’s not a crazy ask to have a few duo efforts here or there as a bit of off-season material
