Also for the record being Tesagi's advocate here ALL ranged units can have infinite range glitch (sunken range made that famous but it works with all units). Ofc when a unit has one of the longest ranges and very high damage output already it's a bit different when it gets a buff..

There are other proxy services but this one is easiest to remember ![]()

This is the uniformity of shroud/fog of war, which adds to the illusion that you get huge range boost from having a scouting unit/building. The uniformity changes as you move the unit where it at some point can make a close to perfect circle but a slight move again will add back the uniformity seen in the picture. I would argue you could see this as constant disadvantage in certain angles which you should learn if you like siege tanks, in some angles you dont even need a scouting unit/building. This is a coding error but i would guess added calculations to make this a perfect circle was frowned upon seeing how old the game is and what PCs we had. StarCraft has always worked on less powerful PCs (even the crappiest PC) and thats most likely because they didnt add over-complicated calculations for stuff like this. ![]() The hit animation is always closer to center of the building than the outer sides so that gives the illusion of a longer range, you only need to see an edge of a building to be able to hit it, not the center core. Here the ghost just got hit then cloaked, above that i land a CC one step to the right which causes siege tank to be in range but visually not so. This is full vision of map btw from enemy tank. ![]()

This is the reality of a Terran Siege Tank. Crazy AF. I.e. you need to use other units to provide visions for full range.

They still are though as the vision part is very easy to get, send some expendable units to the front at a constant rate.
