i recently got a Logitech MX518 Gaming-Grade 1600dpi Optical Mouse after my other mxduo mouse broke on me after a few years.
it was cheap as hell on ebay refurbished, is almost as "good" as the copperhead, and if you are not that picky it was a very good buy in my opinion.
also i heard that the copperhead has issues and is too small for some people.
and it was only like 27 with shipping. not bad

copperhead being too small? isn't it even bigger than the mx300?

If you want a ballmouse or if this was 8 years ago I would have said go for a Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse Since they havnt been in production in years and since there are optical mice that are better today id say go for a mx300 (Open it and remove the built in metal weights though).

also i cannot double click on a man, before with my old mouse, if i double clicked on an item, it would select them all!

i would say get a good mouse pad first haha
(copperhead and G5 use the same lazer and similar drivers they give the same performance heh go figure but they are ment for high dpi high resolution screens oh yeah update your g5 you might be behind on the frimware yes the mouse has firmware and if its an non 2007 verson its behind on it this will give it better reporting also dl the latest verson of set point and change the MHz from 500 to 1000 so its moer stable it shouldn't affect anything unless you computer is crap you can change it where you change your dpi heh)
sorry for any typos im lazy i dont care
Never had a mouse better than a Lazer one, tbh. Never had any problems like what you describe.
As already stated, I use my G5 on 2000 DPI in Starcraft, and its perfectly fine. And I don't know about everyone else, but I knew it had Firmware. And about the full reports (1000 MHz) setting. I had a Diamondback, didn't like it.
I would agree with the getting a good mousemat statement. I found my 5L Steel pad made as much of a difference to my gaming as the mouse,

Mouses make a huge difference. Theres 2 ways to hold a mouse by either palming it(bad way) or fingering it(good way) both are viable but fingering just gives you better control and that's a fact. Most of logitechs gaming mice you can't even hold properly and except for maybe habu and deathadder razers mice are still a little off. As for what's the best mouse at the moment it's logitech g3 without a doubt but if you have huge hands the deathadder might be for you.

No mouse is the best, just choose one that you feel most comfortable with. I, at one point, was pretty obsessed with getting a new mouse thinking it would help me get better somehow. Then someone much, much better than me told me he just used a regular Dell mouse, I pretty much got over it then and there.

Your not very smart. When I first got a gaming mouse I saw my control in game take a HUGE jump. It's a freaking fact some mice are better and it does matter.

I never said every mouse was made equal, I said use the one you feel most comfortable with so you don't go off blowing $50 on a mouse that sucks on the advice of forum members who will obviously have different tastes than you.

Yeah, I'd recommend just sticking with what you know. If you're used to something you'll be better with it, and the fact that the alternative is "better" doesn't mean it'll work out better for you. Maybe in the long run.
There's stilll something to be said for quality mice though. Not the be all and end all though.
As to the palming/fingering comment, while it made me snigger, I know what you're saying and it's true enough. I have pretty big hands so I found the G5 was the perfect size (maybe on the very of almost too small even), and I just generally like the look/feel/performance of it more than others I've tried.
