Also, what's the ideal sensitivity? Right now I play with 1000 dpi but I'm not sure if that's too low or too high (I imagine that ideally you want higher sensitivity)

Logitech MX300/G3/G1 Logitech Mini Optical KTEC mouses Progamers mostly use the Mini Optical. Higher sensitivity = better. DPI doesn't have effect in starcraft because of the low resolution.

Could never go back to an "ordinary" mouse, too slow! I might try that 3200 dpi Saitek mouse though.

There's a thread in the CS:S CAL-O forum at www.caleague.com on mouse optimization. Go read it. Edit: Puoso is wrong. Higher sensitivity is not better. The trick is finding the right ratio of Windows sensitivity, mouse sensitivity (on Logitech, Razer, etc. gaming mice), in game sensitivity, and DPI based on your game's resolution.

imho, unless you're a crazed all-out gamer (fps games especially), a simple logitech optical will suffice for bw. then again, this is just my opinion, and i'm sure some people enjoy playing bw using hyper sensitive mice, so yea. you just have to see and test them all out for yourself.

I think it isn't produced or sold anymore, but I'm not sure about it. However, it is not listed anymore on Logitech.com (in fact in no country) and I haven't seen it in any stores for about one year... Maybe check ebay or something if you think it's worth it. Topic: As everybody said, there is no best mouse. It begins with different ergonomic shapes of someone's hands. For me it is the Logitech G1 at the moment because it's light, not bad looking, smooth in movement and precise. For mouse sensitivity, everybody should consider his own preferences. Neither do I like it slow nor too fast, so it's rather between slow and fast. ![]()

Its a very small mouse that is designed for laptop users. It small and light and very good for starcraft IMO. And I like high sensitivy for quick twitchy movements. Works for me.

WOW cheap mice have crappy sensors that track very poorly to the motion of your hand. even between other high end gaming mice there's a scientifically observable difference in how well they perform under stress. the deathadder is probably the best mouse on the market right now in terms of accurately measureing the movement of your hand (its not in the major article, it came after it was written and has its own separate article). it's less of a big deal in rts than fps but it's definitely noticable. whenever i visit my parents i take my mouse with me if i feel like playing starcraft there, i cannot do a worker split on my parent's stock dell mouse at all, the thing is very unreliable in tracking the motions of the mouse not to mention gaming mice come with extended warranties so if you break your mouse send it back and get a new one indefinitely for 3 years ^_^

i would say get a good mouse pad first haha (copperhead and G5 use the same lazer and similar drivers they give the same performance heh go figure but they are ment for high dpi high resolution screens oh yeah update your g5 you might be behind on the frimware yes the mouse has firmware and if its an non 2007 verson its behind on it this will give it better reporting also dl the latest verson of set point and change the MHz from 500 to 1000 so its moer stable it shouldn't affect anything unless you computer is crap you can change it where you change your dpi heh) sorry for any typos im lazy i dont care

after my other mxduo mouse broke on me after a few years. it was cheap as hell on ebay refurbished, is almost as "good" as the copperhead, and if you are not that picky it was a very good buy in my opinion. also i heard that the copperhead has issues and is too small for some people. and it was only like 27 with shipping. not bad

Never had any problems like what you describe. As already stated, I use my G5 on 2000 DPI in Starcraft, and its perfectly fine. And I don't know about everyone else, but I knew it had Firmware. And about the full reports (1000 MHz) setting. I had a Diamondback, didn't like it. I would agree with the getting a good mousemat statement. I found my 5L Steel pad made as much of a difference to my gaming as the mouse,

Yeah, I'd recommend just sticking with what you know. If you're used to something you'll be better with it, and the fact that the alternative is "better" doesn't mean it'll work out better for you. Maybe in the long run. There's stilll something to be said for quality mice though. Not the be all and end all though. As to the palming/fingering comment, while it made me snigger, I know what you're saying and it's true enough. I have pretty big hands so I found the G5 was the perfect size (maybe on the very of almost too small even), and I just generally like the look/feel/performance of it more than others I've tried.
