The game is more figured out now than it was back in 2002-2007 back when the phrase originated. There aren't that many unexpected/unknown surprise specific moves happening in games in general now.
but I'm confident some of the higher ranked games (remember, 10-7 only so far!) will be more in accordance with what you are asking for.

Sorry to be an asshole...but hmmm. This is not what pimpest plays are. Pimpest plays are specific points in a game with a very specific move that is exceptional. Its not an entire game with no highlight pointed out. Just no. I appreciate the effort but its just wrong. If you want to relabel the thread as fantastic games of 2019 then by all means I support that.
Things like flash floating buildings over his tanks to block broodlings from queens for example just off the top of my drunk head That happened in 2019. And I'm absolutely certain I've seen better examples than that, they just aren't comming to me at the moment.
I did not watch the larva video but is that his drone push all in? In that case I it qualifies Ok yes it is , I can tell from the video preview.

The game is definitely more figured out but there have definitely been some actual pimpest plays in 2019. Again this is just off the top of my head and very vague but Best's Dark archon maelstrom work in early game pvz should be on there.
Or actions offensive hatch fast defiler push possibly. Sorry I cant remember the specific game.

Floating buildings over tanks to prevent broodling is legitimately a 1998 strategy though, like to the point where it was written in a strategy guide from 1998. There really aren't that many things nowadays that qualify for pimpest plays the way that was back in 2003-2006, virtually everything has been done.
I understand your point of view and somewhat agree with it - but going by the definition used in the SClegacy pimpest plays would from my pov give us exactly 2 games to choose from, where one is the larva game. Action's proxy hatch defiler rush with nydus support is a close contender, too. Maelstrom, even in early game, has been used occasionally for a very long time.

First one is Larva v Best, and it's 2020. Second is our top-4 Pimpest Play. And Action's proxy hatch on Transistor is 2018.
