Update june the first 2007 I added the commentaries for todays OSL games.
Due to all the great audio commentaries that have recently surfaced I felt compelled to follow suit and present you with some more audio commentaries, fresh of the press and hopefully just as good as the ones already on this site.
The games commented are the recent MSL group games between Savior, GoRush, Shine and Jangbi. For those that prefer to hype themselves for the match there is the newspost from Live2Win about these matches. It can be found here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=53836¤tpage=1#cutnews
Before I present you with the links to the Vods I must apologise for the low image quality of the videos and probably more importantly my constant abuse of the English language. Part of the reason why I wanted to commentate a few games myself is to improve my English. So please don’t be offended by some weird grammatical creations.
So without further ado, here are the Vods. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed commentating.
First batch of commentaries + Show Spoiler +

Poll: Did you enjoy these audio commentaries? (Vote): Yes I definatly did! Keep them coming, I want more! (Vote): Somewhat. You definatly need to improve before I start enjoying your commentaries (Vote): Not really. Pretty bad commentaries if you'd ask me (Vote): No, you kidding me? Worst commentaries that I ever had the displeasure of hearing

Hmmm I feel as though I have heard this voice before
Edit: You have some nice insight :OO and your voice is pretty cool to listen to.
|
I really like the background info in the beginning.
Seemed like you watched the videos beforehand though. Good job other than that.
|
great insight, but could u be more emotional?
|
I watched all of them, thanks a lot more making them!

I watched Game 2: Jangbi vs Shine having never seen it before. I was very impressed. There was nothing I recall you saying that was wrong or didn't make sense. Thanks for your effort.

Watching, and I like what I hear already within 3 minutes. EDIT: I'd like to see more faked enthusiasm, though =D. Your English is essentially perfect.

Nice commentary, the way you said some things was kind of annoying at times but definitely would like to hear more.
|
You have a lovely voice, and seem to know what your talking about.
|
wow i didnt notice how Shine faked a standard fac build by moving an SCV to his nat so jangbi's probe could see it, and then lifting the rax while in Jangbi's LOS until the second time I saw it. Brilliant ^^
nice commentaries, you seemed to improve with each one =)

He had 0 enthusiasm though imo. Iunno, that's just my style. Watching them first is good if you want to go into lots of strategy ^^

Still, it suits him. I don't think feigned enthusiasm would add much, other than make the viewer cringe.

Yes, it does suit him, quite well actually.
By the way, it's not feigned enthusiasm in mine... T_T

I think i might try this later when I have some time. Commentary was REALLY good overall, you kept talking and stuff BUT YOU NEED MORE EXCITEMENT WHEN BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING TAKE A HINT FROM THE CRAZINESS INTHE IRC CHANNEL WHEN SAVIOR GETS THAT CC INFESTED YOU SHOULD BE LIKE OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGG GORUSH JUST PWNED HIM WITH THOSE MUTAS. THOSE MUTAS TAKE THE HP DOWN, SAVIOR DESPERATELY TRIES TO HEAL HIS CC WITH SCVS BUT IT'S NOT WORKING SCVS ARE SIMPLY GETTING KILLED AND AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GORUSH INFESTS THE CC!!!!! THE CC IS INFESTED!!!! etc.

What about feigned awe or disbelief? Just SOMETHING.

Watching it before hand helps avoid making you look like a moron. And insights into strategy are a big part of commentating reps, everyone and their mom can see what's just happening in the game.

love the accent
analysis is pretty good as well

I liked em I didn't get the impression he already watched them, but it's not like thats a bad thing.

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them.
Some random remarks:
1. I did watch the VODS before commenting. Not on purpose, but because I wanted to do a commentary on a series and I wanted to do it when I did. As I already watched or otherwise know the outcome of all the recent proleague, osl and msl series, the only option was to wait until a new one was available for download. As such, I decided to just pick a recent series that I had on my pc. I did try act and think the exact same way I did when I first watched them, and I think I succeeded at that quite well. On the other hand, it's obviously possible that somehow through my commentary the listener gets the impression that it is not the first time for me.
2. I try to be more enthusiastic, but it's hard for me. I am not a very excited person, moreso reserved and collected. Also, when a game gets excited a lot of things are happening on the screen and I scramble for the right words to say. Add to that the fact that when confronted with a choice between saying something senseful and sounding excited, I prefer the former. Finally I try to keep my commentaries free of words that might offend people. Considering I don't really know that many ways in English to put excitement in my words (and not through my voice), I end up being rather limited in ways to express myself.
I will work on these points, as I know from firsthand experience that a VOD is much more pleasant to watch when the commentators are going wild. Do not expect miracles though, I doubt the Korean commentators were this good when they first started.

These are great, thanks!
I think feigning enthusiasm for commentaries like these is silly. For live commentary it works well but for strategic analysis like this it would just be irritating IMHO.
