I don't see the problem with the buildings. First of all, the picture of the original you posted is overly blurry, not at all as it looks ingame. I mean sure, the top of the Zerg Hatch looks a bit like an anus now, but other than that..

I always thought the zergling appendages were some sort of claws, hooks, or fangs that they used to attack things with.

actually, zerglings jumping on two feet are shown in the campaign cinematics. Looks clunky and very slow, though

well sadly im dead serious, and maybe u can call me elitist, maybe, but there is plain evidence for my claim before your very eyes. i can try to explain, i mean saying things like '' so this is how its meant to look, mind blown'' implies you guys believe they actualy only resized the old pixels and everything stayed the same, however that didnt happen at all. they have completely redrew from scratch the new HD sprites and with it, changed the art ever so slightly in most cases and blatantly obvious in others. for example look at old and new bc, new one clearly has sc2 bc art desing influences. same with for example victory screens are competely diffrent, or blood and death explosion ingame, for example ling and marine blood look like nothing compared to original sprites. each and every single unit and building has undergo these type of changes. zerglings never had duck feet or arms, they had claws, i think u can spot that urself.

i also want to point out the following, u cannot in good conscience launch remastred and press the SD button and compare the graphics to HD and back, because u need to realise SD graphics currently in remastred are worse than in 1.16.1, sideffect of game being ported to difrent renderer and thus they are slightly more pixelated and slightly more blurry. i mean that picture of zerg base that Twinkle Toes posted for comparrison is deadly wrong. SD is never that blury at least not in 1.16.1. so with all that out of the way, i cant help but wonder, why did they feel to make such artistic liberties bordering on fanart. and i hope u also notice strange cartoony likenes of prety much all new HD sprites for some odd reason, almost reminding me of mobile games, just compare old and new minerals for instance or old/new archon. im sorry this just doesnt cut it in my book. what im trying to say here is that there is no such thing as how thigns always looked, only HD. yes artosis and tasteless wont stop saying every 10 minutes ''so this is how it always looked like!'' but please dont be that naive. heres another thing they claim every time they cast, we can finaly see resources and suply of players when obsing tnx to magical technologies of remaster. id urge everyone to go on youtube and search for any vod since 2008 or maybe sooner that had suply and resources tabs. somehow they forgot huh? hard to believe.

there is much more to be said. now Classic Team has actualy claimed as much to change the art because they couldnt resize any pixels so they had to do it by memory of how it would look and also didnt had the game or something (i gues that golden master disk on ebay 2 months before remaster launch was a nice PR stunt). well sure u know thats cool, ive actualy found hydralisk sitting on skulls victory screen wallpaper in complete 1080p that was done in 2008 in anticipation of sc2. its still online. also same wallpaper form 1999 in 1280x1024. original is ofc in 640x480 what im trying to say is that clearly they couldve made a proper HD withotu changing art if they actualy wanted too, but cartoony style is popular now in 2017 along with tying in with sc2 lore, so we get what we get. ok but that is art. why cant SD be extended to wide so that were esentialy playing at a disadvatage to HD users because they see more screen. there is no reason, units are selectable and everthing in wide why cant SD display them? maybe to force u to buy HD? there isnt even 4:3 its just a fake letterbox to make u belive it is.


and as the last thing, id like to mention a good way to do a proper HD mode, it can also be seen if u open map editor and load a map, and i mean the old editor and SD graphics and u will see a map zoomed out in SD which actualy looks great. weve had this 20 years, zoomed out maps but only in editor, thats all they realy had to do, no tinkering required, its all there since begining. also there have been resolution hacks since like 2005 that let u play in 1920x1080, that looked exactly like if map was open in editor, namely zoomed out and preserved graphics. because of all this instances i question blizzard intentions. and ofc there is more. did you know that stacraft beta form 1997 that can still be played btw and had suprsing things that were cut like observer slots (revolutionary new feature of remastred), selecting buildings and units at the same time, voice chat some other stuff i forgot. i mean hell does anybody even know about team melee mode, the revolutionary archon mode form sc2 copied? u can even save a game and resume. well so at this rate im really not sure what remastred actualy added? hotkeys could be edited before too. i guess half working automatch, but also broke bnet in the process, menus used to be instant and still are in 1.16.1 not waiting 2 secs for the new bnet web browser (and it is a browser) to load for each click like on remastred. i could also go on with the forced blur, the turn rate debacle, mouse issues, noncompatible mods but whatever.

so at the end of the day i sure seem like an elitist, but what i truly want is a proper remastred which this one clearly is not for reasons i mentioned. and yes in 20 years, the next re-remaster will change the art yet again, u can bet the world on it. and maybe lings will get duck beaks. oh ye btw there was also an 1.17 patch that they never realeased to public that was datamined and revealed to include fixes for OS compatibility and direcdraw color fixes that weve been waiting for for years. they instead decided to skip it and esentialy left us hanging on 1.16.1 because they started to work on remastered 2 years ago and go to 1.18 which was remastred beta. i really hope its clear yet why im bitter like that

As someone who used to love modding the menus (.bin) files, there certainly were a lot of unused features such as observer slots such as you mention.

Excellent point about the map editor and how crisp BW looked zoomed out.

I played SC2 for a few days (admittedly a torrent file) before deleting. I rushed to TeamLiquid when I stumbled on the mention of a Remastered BW in my internetz surfin', but this being the first article I read, am a little disappointed in the pics/art work displayed in the op.

Zerglings definitely have four legs. Open a replay and pause when a bunch of zerglings are running from left to right and you'll see it.

Zerglings have 2 backlegs, and two huge claws which they use to run. Then they also have 2 arms attached to their backs that they use to attack in conjunction with the 2 huge claws.
