Finally! First time beating the last level. My final unit composition:
5 Strikes and 3 Blazes +120 upgrades
5 Pikachus and 5 Crunches +187 upgrades
14 Toxic Shooters + 140 upgrades
6 Lt Commanders + 160 upgrades
What I am pretty proud of is that I managed to not lose a single life throughout the game. Personally I think the later phase of the game is all about balancing the anti-air splash damage and the anti-ground damage. I sticked to Toxic Shooters for quite some time, then transitioned into Pikachus and Lt Commanders(Valkyries), which turned out to be just about what it needed.

Among many others, yes. I wouldn't say it's difficult in particular, since it's a poker game where luck plays an important role. That being said it requires a certain amount of strategy as the game progresses, also team effort. Not a lot of people can reach the end as far as I know.

I beat this last week as well, my composition was mainly dragoons archons and mutas. protoss ground is surprisingly good.

Goes on too long this one.Got to level 40, maybe 80 minutes in before quitting from sheer boredom.That was regular Nova X2.

We just beat this this morning. Ended up with ~18 hydras and maybe half a dozen mutas and sold everything else including the lurkers. Once we came up with the idea of intentionally breaking straights, flushes, and full houses in favor of seeking three/four of a kind or ace pairs for heros, everything just kind of fell out naturally and we beat it the next time we played. When a full house, flush, or just a high card have basically the same value, it makes it easy to aim for only hydras and mutas (including heroes).

Recently found out that if you add "#x2" in the title of the room you created you can actually speed up the UMS as you can do when watching a replay. This also works with standard maps. Not sure how the magic works, but it actually helps a lot to shorten the whole process.

Do you recommend switching to Archons at a certain time? I managed to make the last level with no lives lost playing Hydra/Muta but not sure you can kill lings fast enough.
Mech seems to be laughably bad also.

Ye, this version of poker is rather fun. Beat it too 2 days ago with 200 upg hydra army, 5 marine + 6 ghost 180 upg, couple of mutas, dragoons and even corsairs at about 60 upg.
But it's kind of funny to think that u wouldn't want to go for full house when u get it, because it's better to get a part for your hero

I beat it with full hydras @ 200 and 6 valks, since they added the 10k mineral thing in valks were at 200 also, and then spent my defilers on the royal cruisers+dragoons and upgraded protoss ground.
Its hilarious how good valkyries are in this, the last 3 waves didnt even make the first turn before they died

Yes valkyries are good until someone else decide to go valkyries too  (maybe it's fixed with the new 1.18 tho)

Most people will die before last wave, i wont usually get them if im not the only one alive, odds of them firing before everyone elses stuff is dead is kinda low

Sorry to necro this, but considering that some undeserved slander was being thrown at me here, I think I should throw in a comment to defend myself.
I never once claimed that I invented poker defense,or that the map is completely my own creation from the ground-up. However, I did put many hours into redoing just about everything (terrain, triggering, balance, adding new features/levels, etc.) to the point where I feel that calling it "my map" isn't terribly wrong.
I do leave credits to the original authors, if you look in the briefing or the bottom of mission objectives it usually says "thanks to liveingrace" since I believe they are the original creators of the "new poker defense" which its based on.
Expecting me to include a complete changelog of every poker map ever made is just a bit silly. People constantly ask me "are you the sato that made poker d?" (either in our SC UMS Discord, or when they see me in-game) and every single time, I say "I made the Nova X2 version, not poker d itself", when it would be much easier to just say "yes" and move on.
Lifebot is a petty person who is determined to spread misinformation about me just because I don't like his maps (and I'm not even rude about it.)

Who ever knew that Poker Defense was such a serious USE MAP SETTING CUSTOM GAME....I never realized people could get so passionate about a custom map, that isn't real StarCraft... it's just a FOR FUN type of game, chill... No one cares who made it lol
